Thanks Ruth for this video. R and Python are both great languages R is a data specific language. Python is a general purpose language. That means that something like web development in python is designed for web developers and requires understanding a full web development technology stack on top of the data analytics skills. Ie Python + Flask or Django + HTML + Javascript + some asynchronous programming framework like react. The community is bigger but spread across many more different use cases which may have no relevance to you. Web development in R is designed for data analyst which means you only need R and Markdown to build a data-driven dashboard in about 1/10th the code using a library like Flexdashboards. This is the general principle for pretty much everything in the language. I could go on with many other examples and have also made videos on the subject but in general... If you are a web / app developer who wants to integrate some machine learning functionality into an app then you should go with Python. If you are an analyst who spends all day exploring, analysing and reporting than go with R. It will take you half the time. As a data analyst tool it has integration with BI tools like Power BI, Tableau, etc whereas Python does not. You can still use Python within R if you find a must have Python library. You can also convert your R code to REST APIs to make your work available for easy integration by developers. It's worth noting that I've worked with both languages but teach data analytics courses predominantly in R. I'm glad that you put together this video as Python is great but not for everyone. I know many people who have had a very similar experience to your own.
