@@gauravnagar3712 you still didn't got the point he is trying to make. It depends on the use case. If you are dealing with tons of I/O calls node js is the best possible tech stack. But if you are doing some CPU intensive work that nodejs is not a good choice. It depends on the use case. Simply loving a programming language is not the way to go
Proud full time PHP dev here. It powers almost 80% of all database driven websites. That's 5 times the market share of the next most popular back end environment (.NET).
Language choice matters less than architecture choice in my opinion. If you work in small independent modules, you can use a separate language for each module, you can pick according to use case and team experience. If you limit the size of each module to "a few days of work", then you can always replace the module within a few days as well. You can even experiment with more exotic languages if you want, because with limited module size it's not going to be a "choose once, live with it forever" thing. Now, picking a good message bus to let your services communicate with each other... that's quite important.

My end goal is to become a professional software developer, I don’t like freelance I tried it already. Question? I google PHP and the results said 78% of servers run on PHP. If this is so why aren’t companies really looking for developers with this skill set? I am from New York and I see Java developers more than anything else. I am thinking now would it be best to focus on Java or node.js since I already know JavaScript? Thank you Hitesh.

Where do I start? Thank you all in advance - interesting video.
I have to pause the video in the mid just to write this comment. First of all, stop comparing PHP to Angular and React they are the frontend frameworks, PHP can be used to serve API to Angular and React as well. Secondly PHP VS Node.js has totally different execution model, PHP is a scripting language where node.js works on a non-blocking IO model. believe me, no game developer will prefer its server engine to be built on PHP. JS is universal, its popular because of some reason. it can be used almost anywhere ( from the clients to the servers, desktop applications #ThanksToElectron, mobile applications #ionic #ReactNative and Embedded System as well)
In my experience, PHP is an indispensable part of your toolkit as a backend or full stack developer. You'll always get clients that are still using PHP, namely Laravel.
Thank you ... thank you and thank you for this video ... I was getting pretty depressed as a WordPress developer about all the bad mouthing of PHP that has been going around ...
I’m a 5 year php developer and I make around the same as my friends who work with newer stacks. Now I have friends who have less then two years of experience, and make far less then I do even as (insert Vue/Angular/React here) devs. Experience goes a long way when negotiating salaries/side projects. That doesn’t mean I don’t stay relevant, I work with react on my free time. So I at least can diversify my knowledge base. Btw Look into LitElements the injection of components into html is a familiar experience to working with php.
For present sir you think php is important... taking a view like after a span of 2 years what will be the position of php knowledge requirement in the industry
Sir you have two computers on your desk first is apple but second monitor is not apple so how did you installed Mac os on that is it hackintosh or remotely laptop connected or windows in that Or official mac os ???
As a Magento 1 & 2 Developer you need a solid PHP foundation, Object/Class Pattern understanding, DI, and XML. Plus all my personal projects are developed in Phalonphp Framework. I would also suggest learn SQL/MySQL, or even Mongo DB. The frontend JS frameworks to me are just a transfer of memory resource load from the backend to the frontend, which can be beneficial in some applications, its best to learn as much as possible, and develop projects to help you learn the pros and cons.
Thank you for your explanation! I feel much better as I move forward in my learning! (Before watching your video I thought it was just me who thought it was so hard!)
Yes. Symfony is perfect for small or medium size project given the right use case. For large projects it's also powerful but you should be aware of limitation of components like doctrine when you except lots of complexity and load.
Very cool video! I'd add from my experience that it's easy to find junior position as markup designer and go on to php basics. In my case it took 3 month to learn simultaneously basics of html, css, js and php. And I had some salary as well during this "fun" period. After you learnt and tried basics you can tell what is yours. Some guys adore front parts and never go deeper. It's up to you then. And if you dig deeper into backend parts - there is no frontend at all. Your programming is not much different from any other language, I tried python and some cpp and it cost nothing to use them in ocasional cases. Good luck and good choices to ya all )
The only people bashing php are 20 year olds who have no experience and are just jumping on the newest trend because they have no direction. Php is still a viable avenue. Thank you for making this video.

Learning laravel right now coming from .net core im liking it so far. I find it more efficient and less bloated with maybe a few less features. Any one else have that experience or is just my imagination?
I like the video. I just disagree that telling people that they shouldn't like a programming language based on how the syntax is too harsh. In fact, one of the reasons (not *the* reason) we have different programming langauges is because there are people who prefer one syntax over the other. Yes, all of what you have mentioned is important. I just don't see why is it bad for someone to like a certain programing language because he prefers the syntax over others. For example, I do like a lot Ruby and Python because of the syntactic sugar, and they let me write cleaner code. Maybe not the best for certain scenarios, but we're here talking about "liking" and not "right tool for the job".
There's a huge amount of programming languages in the world and all of them were created to solve a different spectrum of problems. Therefore, everyone has specific characteristics that make them unique. I think Hitesh tries to say that we shouldn't select one over others based on the syntax because at the end of the day that doesn't matter. What matters is being able to build a technological solution to solve the problem that an organization is dealing with. And if we are in a situation where we have to pick a specific programing language for a project, the syntaxis is the last thing we should consider.

GRAY HAT Because they think that their shitty code could work faster there.
node js is love for me but still it has some cons like very less platform to deploy and hard to deploy it
php is like bike and nodejs is like supercar
@@gauravnagar3712 you still didn't got the point he is trying to make. It depends on the use case. If you are dealing with tons of I/O calls node js is the best possible tech stack. But if you are doing some CPU intensive work that nodejs is not a good choice. It depends on the use case. Simply loving a programming language is not the way to go
@@udg-g4v i know this and this same answer i have given to some other person in this comment section
Proud full time PHP dev here. It powers almost 80% of all database driven websites. That's 5 times the market share of the next most popular back end environment (.NET).
Php+mysql is a killer combo
node and mongodb is too
ASP + SQL Server
and
Java + Oracle too.
You can use PHP with mongodb too
Language choice matters less than architecture choice in my opinion. Now, picking a good message bus to let your services communicate with each other... that's quite important.
ah yeah,im still learn php even its 2019 because in indonesia company (corporate or some startup) still looking back end who understand php.funniest thing its codeigniter in here still booming and its a rare company using symfony as they main framework.i know symfony from my first job and its incredible fun.but my journey as backend must end and i switch posisition into QA with javascript as my main techstack.
The thing I like most about you that you give a very neat and clean knowledge about your topics
Thanks man 👨🦰
Only the coding hipsters diss on PHP, when it comes to implementing solutions PHP is not going anywhere, not any time soon.
Hi Hitesh, I love PHP and I already have 1 year learning JavaScript and some Reqct. But for about 1 month I’ve been learning PHP to create forms, sessions, cookies.
I think your right? My end goal is to become a professional software developer, I don’t like freelance I tried it already.
Question? I google PHP and the results said 78% of servers run on PHP. If this is so why aren’t companies really looking for developers with this skill set? I am from New York and I see Java developers more than anything else.
I am thinking now would it be best to focus on Java or node.js since I already know JavaScript? Thank you Hitesh.
Wow! You just confirmed all my thoughts and ideas. I planned on learning HTML5/CSS3 -> Bootstrap-> PHP -> Laravel. This is exactly what you said so thank you for your video!
Heyy did you learn what you said ...in these 7 month and its helping???plz answer...
Hello Hitesh... you usually say do five or six project... getting stuck here... how to start / what to do... where to start for the project ! 🙄🙄🙄😕
Can you give a thought about IoT
Future of IoT?
I was scriptural about this video but it was real, practical, and worth the listen. I have been a full stack web dev for 16+ years and I get videos like this in my stream and they are usually half-on and half left-fields thoughts and ideas. This was not that. You get a Gold Star from me Sir! (And no, I don’t mean gold star in any kind of demeaning way. I give mental gold stars to people doing things the right way like the guy who uses his blinker when driving or the waitress/waiter who asks ‘dressing on the side or stirred in?’. THAT person gets a gold star. Sorry for the long explanation but I wanted to be clear.) thank you very much, And Good day/evening!
Sir are you planning for android summer boot camp?
I love CORE PHP. Its awesome.... I am working with core php from last 6 year...

I have been using php from last 12 years.. which made my career healthy n wealthy. 😊
I observed many times that people still are underestimating this technology and programmers are not fully using some advanced concepts of php 5.5 + or 7
PHP 7 is really great and much more improved in security level. I like specially Prepared Statements to prevent SQL Injection.
as a lover of C and C++ type programming languages i personally find pythons syntax just completely unusable for me
But Python is easy to start with
@@dexdevlon8941 "to start with"
is the key part here :)
but if you already know another language or several other languages ,
good luck because trying to program python at that point is like trying to hammer a nail with the pointy end of an axe
im not saying its a bad langauge all around its just a few bits of it that ruin the entire thing for me.
primarily the syntax.
i mean if it had proper {blocks} then it might even be usable to some degree for me
@@logangraham2956 I personally have experience with many languages like Javascript, C, Java, Python, php, etc and I feel like I can write a lot of productive code only with a few lines in python then in C or C++ and for the case of web service I can use Django, or Flask. And python doesn't have a really bad {blocks} system it just takes a while to get use to it, the main reason I love python is because of its extensive libraries which allows even a beginner or a expert to write code quickly and productively
Please don't feel offended this is all my personal opinion and if I wrote anything wrong please correct me as I am no expert :)
@@dexdevlon8941 don't worry , no offense ,
we're all here for the tech not the feelings :)

If you think Python is bad, look up F# or Brainfuck.
well I am certainly the newb - as started off playing with Adobe CC & photography and band album work etc: I then went to doing a deprecated Dreamweaver & flash course (which cost me a fortune that I couldn't really afford) But am at stage now where I have made several sites mainly local with HTML and CSS - The problem I am having now is WordPress and as I am being told about installing flywheel to work locally before hosting, So basically for what you have said regarding PHP what is next for me, where do I turn? Where do I start? Thank you all in advance - interesting video.
I have to pause the video in the mid just to write this comment.
First of all, stop comparing PHP to Angular and React they are the frontend frameworks, PHP can be used to serve API to Angular and React as well.
Secondly PHP VS Node.js has totally different execution model, PHP is a scripting language where node.js works on a non-blocking IO model.
believe me, no game developer will prefer its server engine to be built on PHP.
JS is universal, its popular because of some reason. it can be used almost anywhere ( from the clients to the servers, desktop applications #ThanksToElectron, mobile applications #ionic #ReactNative and Embedded System as well)
Php is still the best for web. It actually runs the web in 2019
Php can work on non blocking IO. You can use reactphp, swoole php etc. Swoole blows out nodejs in terms of speed.
In my experience, PHP is an indispensable part of your toolkit as a backend or full stack developer. You'll always get clients that are still using PHP, namely Laravel.
Thank you sir your video is a morning Motivation for PHP Beginners :) :)
Btw Look into LitElements the injection of components into html is a familiar experience to working with php.
thanks for summing up that so clearly because it is difficult to find out what developping programms are essential to learn, so many of them.

Make a separate series on WordPress
Thank you for your explanation! I feel much better as I move forward in my learning! (Before watching your video I thought it was just me who thought it was so hard!)

Can I use Symfony framework for small or medium size projects?
Yes. Symfony is perfect for small or medium size project given the right use case. For large projects it's also powerful but you should be aware of limitation of components like doctrine when you except lots of complexity and load.
he could have just gone straight to the 7th minute.
Good luck and good choices to ya all )
2018:- i thought python will kill php.
2019:- ghanta
Php is a daddy of python
Actually no language is ever killed but the scope at which a langauge is used is being narrowed
python usage is actually reducing as a server-side language.
PHP 90% Python 1%
@
Yup. Python is good for AI, ML, Data Science but not in Web Development. PHP and Node.js are best choice for Web Development.
@ Python is a general purpose programming lan so no doubt it can be used every where..
The only people bashing php are 20 year olds who have no experience and are just jumping on the newest trend because they have no direction. Php is still a viable avenue. Thank you for making this video.

Nice video you have on php...in your video, you did mention of mastering htm/css and may be bootstrap, can I forgo them and master ReactJS instead
Hey Hitesh, all that information aside but your left eye dosent seem good to me. Is everything alright.
Symfony, CodeIgniter, Laravel, Wordpress, Drupal, etc. PHP continues to progress and get better and better.
