Lowkey feel like the dermatologist was telling these girls things they all already know... they're obviously all quite knowledgeable about skincare already based on their routines. I think this would have been better with skincare newbies or people who have no routine at all, and the dermatologist could recommend types of products to them.
Honestly speaking... these girls' skin weren't really that bad. They never seem to but people with visibly damaged skin in these types of videos, it's really annoying. I want to see women with actual problems with hyper-pigmentation and active acne. I also want to see them talk about the differences in routines for teenagers vs adult women, because I see a lot of people pushing skin products to their teen audience.
Ya that’s exactly what I was thinking. None of the girls had routines that were the “average” persons routine. I was waiting for the dermatologist to criticize something. The video was basically of the girls showing their routine that’s it.
@@melissapeterson1298 honestly I'm pretty sure the last girl knew fully well what HA stood for and they just had her ask that so it'd look like she learned something. She's into skincare enough to be buying kbeauty products as well as from The Ordinary, she definitely knows what hyaluronic acid is lmao
Women interested in skincare are more likely to jump at the chance to be involved in a video like this. And keep in mind, just because a routine is extensive and has a lot of cult favorite products involved does not mean the person has an awesome skincare regime. For example, Dr. Dray - a dermatologist - would not endorse the Farmacy cleansing balm because of the high volume of natural fragrance that can be disruptive to the skin. It doesn’t seem like this dermatologist was given the ingredients lists for each product which might’ve changed her opinion... with so little information to go on, she could only suggest broader tips like retinol and double cleansing etc. A lot of dermatologist actually recommend a more simple routine... beauty gurus and bloggers are the ones that recommended everything from Sephora.
Fair point about doing a newbie video as well. I really enjoyed this video because it either validates or debunks hyped products by a professional. Like the first person, I’ve had a regular routine by now and pulled all these things from research from the net but doesn’t mean I’m a chemist or dermatologist!
Probably because everyone’s skin is different. Certain ingredients can be “bad” but for some people they can be non irritating. I personally like fragrance in some of my skincare so it’s more of a sensorial experience.
shtefyyy just because it doesn’t irritate your skin doesn’t mean it isn’t bad for it. What this person listed is bad for all skin, the skin type doesn’t matter.
I wish they could make a video that helps explain the different skin types and what they need, and which products you should not combine. Skin care is way too complicated and I seriously need help... haaalp
Actually I just found a pretty good series called Skin science by Cassandra Bankson and she goes in details about skin types and skin concerns and pretty much every question I’ve ever had about skin care. Thanks guys :)
I wish the dermatologist would have scanned the ingredients on the back of the products and then decided if it should have been tossed or not. I know that some of those products don't have good ingredients in them.
The first girl had witch hazel which is good but the one she has, has alcohol in it which will dry out the skin and alcohol is a ingredient that shouldn’t be put on the face
The dose makes the poison. Just because it has a "bad" ingredient doesn't make the product bad, it just depends on the amount of the ingredient used for the product.

The Neutrogena Hydro Boost Extra Dry Skin formula (it’s a moisturizer) has been a game changer for me! It has Hyaluronic Acid and helps with flakiness :)
A while back I started using an acne treatment (Differin gel) that has been known to dry out skin quite a bit. My skin went from oily to combination where my T-zone would be extremely oily still but then parts of my forehead and cheeks would FLAKE. I then incorporated Jojoba oil into my routine after moisturizer and my skin became more clear (i still have acne, it didn't clear all of it) and balanced my oily/dryness. I now have normal skin with much less texture. I then switched out jojoba oil for rosehip seed oil since it basically is supposed to do the same thing but also fade acne scars better and i'm having similar results as I did with the jojoba oil. Glad that a few of the products I use have been approved by the dermatologist. Like many women, I pretty much stumbled across them on the internet. Had no idea retinol helped with acne though! I use azelaic acid for that and I have to mix it with regular moisturizer or it will sting.
I wish they could have one with really dry, sensitive, eczema ridden skin like mine. I also have some acne and forehead bumps so its a hard combination. I dont even cleanse my skin cause all the gentle cleansers Ive tried have been too drying still, I mean water is too drying for me. When she said that you shouldnt feel dry and tight after showering and lmao thats how I feel after every shower and I shower once a week with only water
AllTimeFallOutAtTheChemicalDisco I have extremely dry skin and never had acne so I can’t help there, but when it comes to dry skin Lush Sympathy for the skin is the best cream I have found for feeling hydrated (body not face) Tarte rainforest of the sea drink of H20 face cream is hydrating and more of a gel so it’s not super heavy so that may allow you to hydrate without getting too oily in your oily spots.
If you feel dry and tight after showering, it means your natural moisture barrier is damaged and your skin is dehydrated. Try to look for ceramides/cholesterol/fatty acids in skincare products. Shower at a lower temp so you lose less moisture. For dry skin, an oil cleanser or milky cleanser is better than water for cleansing. Use watery essences/lotions (Asian skincare have these) to hydrate your skin and lock in that hydration with an occlusive cream.
If the comments dont help, theres never a problem with seeing your personal dermatologist! They would probably give you more sound advice than what you will find online because it is more personalized to your problems, and could identify other possible problems with using certain products on your skin type. Also ive heard oatmeal baths are good for eczema?
It seems like the ordinary is a good brand, a lot of dermatologists are speaking highly of them, they're affective and affordable. i ordered some of their products a few days ago. i can't wait to give them a try.

im impressed that the dermatologyst didn't recommended sunscreen to the second girl, its a must go for skin care, and must contain UVA and UVB protection
just another tip for all your skincare people out there, see if you have a local soap making store in your area, there are a lot of products they sell that are great additions to your skincare! I personally buy bulk green clay and bentonite clay, also tiny pumice granules to use as an exfoliant. For an exfoliator, you want something that is small enough to get into your pores and clean out but big enough to not get stuck in there and you don't want something that can break down into smaller pieces, so pumice stone is great because it is quite hard! I also buy bulk jojoba oil and hyaluronic acid which are great for acne! Also if you have some stubborn pimples try a honey mask or spot treatment with aloe vera. Honey is naturally antibacterial and full of antioxidants, aloe vera is anti-inflammatory, has vitamin C & E & is antimicrobial. Jojoba oil is also AMAZING for acne-prone and oily skin, i have the crazy oily skin & it's awesome to slather it all over my face at night, jojoba is similar to the oil that you skin already produces so it helps regulate the amount your skin will make & it's anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, full of antioxidants and high in vitamins and minerals :)
They use way more than I do. I use rose water spray, homemade cleanser/moisturizer, and some sunscreen and coconut oil to wipe off makeup and then unscented mild soap to get rid of the oil then the above mentioned things for end of the day.
Everyone should check out Maurd products for acne they’re available at Sephora and Ulta but if you’re lucky you can find some products at Tjmax or Marshall’s.
The Luna night oil that the second girl talked about is ACTUALLY amazing. If you’re looking for something that gives you a result the next day LOOK NO FURTHER
My routine: Wash face with warm water and maybe a tea towel if I need the extra abrasion. I have no pimples or anything, but I feel like diet is 80% of the result.

No tea no shade but these routines are quite complicated. I am a former cystic acne sufferer and I just use the following: Morning: 1. Cetaphil oil control face wash 2. Cetaphil SPF 30 oil control moisturizer Night: Same face wash, then finacea gel from my dermatologist. I’m also on spiro (an oral medication). I should probably add a nighttime moisturizer eventually, but don’t want to overwhelm my skin. I also use pimple patches if I get the occasional small pimple. Tl;dr don’t feel like you have to buy super expensive products or have a super complex routine to improve your skin. Genetics plays a big role in things like acne - don’t get sucked into buying a million crazy expensive products. Try to go see a derm if you can.
Omg I felt the need to consult a dermatologist IMMEDIATELY. If there will be an episode where they will pick someone online and try to talk via video call, Honey, sign me up
always choose sunscreens that are mineral-based, such as with zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. oxybenzone and other chemical ingredients are actually endocrine disruptors and can mess with your hormones, leading to more acne!!
I have a lot of the same products they use! I'm glad to see some one with my same skin concerns :) I feel more validated from the dermatologist comments as my routine is not that bad.
I just did a requested video on my lazy girl skincare routine that I have been using for about 5 months now to get rid of my severe cystic and hormonal acne (so severe that my late mum even though she was battling cancer was worried about my face). My face is 98% clear of acne but I still have post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. However seeing the products line up of the first girl made me feel like my routine is kind of inadequate. I hope to add a Vitamin C serum and Hyaluronic serum to my routine.
I wash my face in the shower with the Dove beauty bar I wash the rest of my body with and I moisturize after the shower with the same Suave or Vaseline aloe-vera lotion I use on the rest of my body. That's it and my skin is fine and generally acne free. Probably helps that I wear 0 makeup though.
This was actually very helpful for me since my skin is sensitive but prone to hormonal acne like the first girl. I only use organic products, aloe vera and tea tree oil and usually they help when my hormons are not crazy, but I never thought about adding niacinamide and retinol. I'll give it a try! I just found a serum that has vitamin c, retinol, niacinamide and tea tree oils so fingers crossed 🤞
I am using petroleum jelly to remove my make up after that clean my face with wet cotton from tap water. Then apply Loreal Re Plumper or any loreal night cream. When I wake up I just waah my face with water and apply again cream on my face while it is damp. I dont use any soap or facial wash for my face, just plain water. During weekends, I do facial steam for 10mins. I just put water and olive oil on my rice cooker and while water is boiling, I put my face on the steam (of course with enough distance) then cover my head with big towel enough to trap the steam. After that I clean my face with cotton, get my nivea cream in the fridge and do face massage, then remove it, then apply my peel off facial mask for 15mins, when I'm done, thats the time that I apply my face cream. It works for me, no pores face, face like a baby skin as my friends says. And I'm doing this for more than 10 years already. Simple products only and simple steps.
I used to use a lot of products on my face and my face was looking great, but was very rough. So I thought it was best to leave my skin alone, so I am trying thirty days of just leaving it alone. So far I have just splashed it with water, and moisturized, and my skin has never looked better
I appreciate the intention behind the video but also kind of wish they actually analyzed and confirmed the skin type each of the women have, especially since this is already a very individualized consultation for each of them. I think a lot of women (myself included) try to get products based on their skin types so I wish the dermatologist could've addressed that more directly with each one. Definitely also agree with the other comments with having people with actual skin problems and/or are skincare newbies
These routines feel like overkill. Each person featured probably spends over $150 just on skincare products, and that's not even counting makeup. Idk about you, but I can't afford that. I use Soap and Glory peaches and cream cleansing wash in the morning when I get up, as well as at night when I shower. I follow it up with Olay moisturizing face lotion both times. Then, before I put on my makeup, I use Bare Republic tinted mineral sunscreen with SPF 30--this acts as a primer and BB cream too. Each item is $8-$12 depending on where you buy it, so I spend about $30 on skincare every two months.
The last time I heard a dermatologist talk about it, she said Vitamin C products weren't really recommended yet, because there wasn't any scientific evidence that they had any topical effects, compare to things like retinol; has that changed now? Also, isn't Niacinamide and retinol a no-no together? (though I guess if you'd splitting between day and night.)
she suggested niacinamide but like how? am i supposed to take the capsule pill things or find a cream/serum with it in there? or do i make a mask with the capsules? it sounds helpful for my problems but i dont know how im supposed to incorporate it

I like the concept of the video but I think it would’ve been helpful to have a list of ingredients for each product printed off for the dermatologist to skim and review prior to filming (and could reference in the video). It seemed like a broad overview of yes, retinol... yes, double cleansing etc. however, I wonder if she would’ve cut any specific products knowing what they contained (essential oils/fragrance, denatured alcohol, sulfates etc.).
Hi everyone! I’m going around skincare videos sharing tips. I have been doing skincare for 4 years, and do too much research. 1. Wash your face with an oil cleanser if you have oily skin. The oil in your face mixes with the cleanser, making it easier to remove. 2. Don’t overwhelm your skin with too many products. I’d recommend just a makeup remover, oil cleanser, water cleanser, and oil free moisturiser. 3. Natural products are best. Chemicals irritate the skin. If you have sensitive skin, this is even more important. 4. Do your research. Search up what a few of the main ingredients do, because, for example, you don’t want something that says ‘dries out skin’ if you have dry skin. 5. Be consistent. Your skin will get used to a product after a week or 2, which can lead to spots or irritation if you change products after.
Please do a video dermatologist talking abt how to know your skin type. This thing is so confusing for me, like at one point I'm sure my skin type is normal but sometimes it acts like combination skin

Glad that a few of the products I use have been approved by the dermatologist. Like many women, I pretty much stumbled across them on the internet. Had no idea retinol helped with acne though! I use azelaic acid for that and I have to mix it with regular moisturizer or it will sting.
I say have dr dray come on here and then see what happens :)
Kat Turner yup
This Dr. is too fluffy!!
Lol she’d be like “Throw the whole routine away! We want three things, y’all: ceramides, hyaluronic acid gel cream, and SPF!!”
Courtney Schaper exactly! 😂
@@courtneyschaper6648 ahaha yas girl!
I love the pimple patches! They work so good....
AllTimeFallOutAtTheChemicalDisco
I have extremely dry skin and never had acne so I can’t help there, but when it comes to dry skin Lush Sympathy for the skin is the best cream I have found for feeling hydrated (body not face)
Tarte rainforest of the sea drink of H20 face cream is hydrating and more of a gel so it’s not super heavy so that may allow you to hydrate without getting too oily in your oily spots.
Like the comment above, ceramides ceramides ceramides!
If the comments dont help, theres never a problem with seeing your personal dermatologist! They would probably give you more sound advice than what you will find online because it is more personalized to your problems, and could identify other possible problems with using certain products on your skin type. Also ive heard oatmeal baths are good for eczema?
AllTimeFallOutAtTheChemicalDisco you shower only once a week?
i love how the second girl thought she had a lot lol
It seems like the ordinary is a good brand, a lot of dermatologists are speaking highly of them, they're affective and affordable. i ordered some of their products a few days ago. i can't wait to give them a try.
They're great for no-fuss formulations that are scientifically proven to work. I love everything I've gotten so far!
@@2901Kimberley That's great, can't wait to get my hands on them.

I'm from the PH.
Edit: I just purchased Centellian 24 Madeca Cream on hicharis for my day and night moisturizer.
I found a kbeauty junkie possibly! I use the CosRX cleanser as well and oooh I see that Laneige.
I noticed that too! Those 2 products are such cult favourites. The cleanser was too drying for me unfortunately.
im impressed that the dermatologyst didn't recommended sunscreen to the second girl, its a must go for skin care, and must contain UVA and UVB protection
Please do a video about what drugstore do products dermatologists recommend!
My dry skin homies... don’t worry you’re not alone
Mixed Makeup guys. Susan will change your life ♥️💯
Madecassoside is a centella asiatica extract (Cica) which is great for wound healing and - maybe - collagen production.
I discovered niacinamide recently. Wish I'd known about it before. Major game changer for big pores, congestion and redness :)
just another tip for all your skincare people out there, see if you have a local soap making store in your area, there are a lot of products they sell that are great additions to your skincare!
I need a skin check once every day, anything can happen in a day.
🤢🤢🤢
bro ur everywhere
My routine:
Wash face with warm water and maybe a tea towel if I need the extra abrasion.
I have no pimples or anything, but I feel like diet is 80% of the result.
That was very helpful for my level of skincare knowledge!
I see you girl with your CosRX, Klavuu, A’Pieu Madecassoside cream, and Laneige mask! Seriously CosRX hydrocolloid patches are great 👍

Technically speaking, carbs are sugars.
Meghan Ushman she meant processed sugars
Refined carbs and sugars, dairy, processed meats, junk/fast food, etc.
Is butter a carb?
@@bbiagarcia lmao mean girls reference
@@bbiagarcia no butter is a saturated fat. Fat is not classified as a carbohydrate but it is composed of carbons as well as hydrogens. Any type of fat is classified as lipids. Fats include butter, marargine, vegi oils and steriods. Carbohydrates are complex chains of sugar molecules. Examples of those sugar molecules include glucose as well as fructose.
No tea no shade but these routines are quite complicated. I am a former cystic acne sufferer and I just use the following:
Morning:
1. Cetaphil oil control face wash
2. Cetaphil SPF 30 oil control moisturizer
Night:
Same face wash, then finacea gel from my dermatologist.
Try to go see a derm if you can.
i already use the gel cleanser and lip mask janna has. glad to know i'm doing smth right
Omg I felt the need to consult a dermatologist IMMEDIATELY. If there will be an episode where they will pick someone online and try to talk via video call, Honey, sign me up
I like that shes not pushing a brand. Just offering ad ice and explaining why
They should have her review a skincare routine of drugstore products
always choose sunscreens that are mineral-based, such as with zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. oxybenzone and other chemical ingredients are actually endocrine disruptors and can mess with your hormones, leading to more acne!!
c͙a͙s͙s͙i͙o͙p͙ée͙ I thought that was a myth?
@@jajarachel it is not and many sunscreens still use it because it's cheaper
It’s also better for the coral if you’re going to the beach.
crenner07 this is very true. chemical sunscreens destroy coral!!! imagine what it does to other sea life
I have a lot of the same products they use!
All I use is water and a hydrating face cream (with sunscreen) and makeup remover wipes. And a sugar scrub.
Love the Cosrx products and Lilyann naturals retinol cream.
Waited the whole time for the dermatologist to give things they could improve on
I wash my face in the shower with the Dove beauty bar I wash the rest of my body with and I moisturize after the shower with the same Suave or Vaseline aloe-vera lotion I use on the rest of my body.
What's the serum called?
@@beckaedwards6034 It's the InstaNatural Age Defying and Skin clearing serum!
Janna looks like the girl from almost every video of Cut Lineup.

Thats why she looked so familiar 😂
This is exactly what I thought lmao

They already had good skin and knows what the are doing
Loved this video!!
I would liked a list in the description of all the products used
What about just using neutral and oraganic products ? It would be amazing
omg these girls had the best products like they came INN the derm was shook
(though I guess if you'd splitting between day and night.)
she suggested niacinamide but like how? am i supposed to take the capsule pill things or find a cream/serum with it in there? or do i make a mask with the capsules? it sounds helpful for my problems but i dont know how im supposed to incorporate it
Really wish someone had more drugstore products to see about those
I legit want Dr. Jessica Wu to be my dermo’. Also, I wish she would’ve talked about NeoGen’s fermented essence. I love it and curious to know her thoughts.
Lovely vid! Lets all support each other! X
You should do a dermatologist review each other’s skin care routines
Loveee this! I’d like to see more skincare videos
my skin routine morning:
blackhead gel cleanser
tretenoin
rose water
my skin routine nighttime:
blackhead facemask
(put soap on an electric brush)
moisterizer
mario badescu cane spot treatment
rose water
Dan Brooks PLEASE stop using tretinoin during the day. You’ve most likely caused some damage that you won’t see till much later in life. Use only at night, and broad spectrum sunscreen in the AM
When i saw the thumbnail i was like is that mommy tang (the dermatologist)😂😂
Cosrx low ph cleanser is da GOAT🐐
I like the concept of the video but I think it would’ve been helpful to have a list of ingredients for each product printed off for the dermatologist to skim and review prior to filming (and could reference in the video). It seemed like a broad overview of yes, retinol... yes, double cleansing etc. however, I wonder if she would’ve cut any specific products knowing what they contained (essential oils/fragrance, denatured alcohol, sulfates etc.).
Janna is gorgeous!
more please!
I’d rather spend my money to Skin Care than Cosmetics. My opinion
Wow. My skincare routine with the girl Janna is 90% similar! Thats the reason i clicked on this video. Thank uu
Please do a video dermatologist talking abt how to know your skin type. This thing is so confusing for me, like at one point I'm sure my skin type is normal but sometimes it acts like combination skin
Please make more videos like this
I think the only thing I’m missing from my night routine is a retinoid. This just convinced me to try it because I’m acne prone and oily.
I'm planning on becoming a dermatologist. The result better be great skin or I'm going to be hella mad.
Hahha same 🤣
i'm so surprised that the derm didn't say anything about the witch hazel!
I feel they missed a dry/sensitive skin type of person.
They always do, I got eczema so super dry and sensitive T o T
Yumemi Cosplay Oh, same here T^T
Idk about everyone else but just water is what I use 😂😂
