Hi what’s the other screw head that is inside the early 2011 MacBook Pro?
    Is it torx or polydrive?

Would it not be possible to flip the board up with the mic still glued and disconnect it from the board and it's traces? Or does that make re installation way too difficult?

It's possible and is preference if you do it for a living I would say.

If I have an early 2011 13'' with i5 processor, can I replace the logic board with a mid 2012 i7 logic board?

Yes you can, it's same family type.

Save Apple Dollars Do you have a list of compatible logicboards? I have the exact same MBP as OP. If not a list, then what is the family type?

@John Marks When I researched this a while ago I found out it possible to do what I said, but you have to do some finagling because there are some slight differences between 2011 and 2012 MacBook Pro, I will link the video when I find it.

@John Marks here is the link to video explaining how to do it. You have to buy a few replacement parts, and it looks tricky, but this guy was able to doit ua-cam.com/video/Je-_x4T5J_E/v-deo.html

Can I pay for your time in diagnosing something that's really annoying me on my 2011 13inch MBP i5 2.4ghz EMC2555, I'm on Yosemite but can't remember the vers (unable to log in reliably due to this problem). Think it's a malfunctioning GPU on the integrated Intel 3000 (only runs the that, no separate GPU). Concerned there might be a problem with the property I'm renting in terms of electrical wiring, possible surge, user a three pin mac power adaptor but still wondering. If not perhaps a short across the logic board. Apple regard as obsolete
Symptoms: Started off deteriorating when watching UA-cam/embedded vids. Wouldn't load, would require restart. Also noticed buzzing/micro electric shocks above right hand side where right palm rests (above HD). Would get hot also. Then suddenly screen pixelated and switched off. Three beeps trying to restart. I took off the back, changed RAM over and tested each slot independently. Reboot each time and at different intervals machine would pixelated lines, yellow, purple then hang or immediately shut down. Took off logic board. Cleaned well with Iso Alc and compressed air. Tried reboot, lasted long, logged in then pixelated and shut down. Testing newly order one stick of 2BG ram in next couple of days as a sanity check. Cleaned SODIMM contacts. Rebooted off external HD with original HD still connected. Same. Rebooted with Batt disconnected. Same. Thinking of removing batt & int HD and booting off cross both devices off list. Can integrated GPU be replaced? Hate throwing things like this away and loathe to buy another logic board without knowing for sure that's the issue :)
Many thanks - Happy to donate to your paypal etc for considered answer

I followed this guide and yes everything works. Keyboard and power button didn't work at first but that was because I didn't plug the cable in far enough, it's very awkward. with some patience got it in though and working flawlessly, and much quieter after cleaning and repasting.

It's a little low, best to listen to it with head phones.
