Definitely nicking some tips for my own Kroot, these are incredible! You know, this video makes me wanna see your take on the classic Tau ochre scheme. I think that would be absolutely amazing!
I absolutely love the approach to the skin here. I do prefer Kroot to have the beaks picked out, or at least highlighted up further than the skin to make them look like a harder material. Other than that minor quibble these are fantastic. well done.
Wicked looking models as always. I’m doing the blue for sure. Want them to look like turkey skin. Can’t wait to get home and paint some chicken monsters.
Great video Henry, I always love seeing your videos even if it's a model I don't want to paint. It gives me ideas to try out on other things, have a good one!
I plan to paint mine either very dark or brown like how they on the first codex. I really don't like how they have been presented as mostly green in recent years, there is already a greenskin race and it's the ORK, making the Kroot green is making them a huge disservice. I think I'll go with a warm brown skin with the "coconut crab" freckles going on to make them look more organic (and Predatorish).
Great video! I'm new to Warhammer 40k and just starting out at the grumpy old age of 60. I'm curious about the cork-like things you have the models on while painting-what are they? Also, I'm interested in getting into airbrushing. Could you recommend an airbrush that's a step above beginner level?
@@Rogue40kCraftsman the corks are just champagne style corks with a 2p stuck to the bottom. Depending on your budget our H&S Evolution is a brilliant airbrush, suitable for all levels and will last you for ages.
Another incredible scheme Henry, thanks so much! I'm definitely going to be using these ideas for my Fellgor Kill Team. I'd like a couple of them to be Khorne-y, do you have any tips for using this method to get a desaturated red skin tone without highlighting to pink?
The blue one looks amazing. I had no interest in these models until I saw this video. Why do you do this to me, Henry? I have no time for another army.
Did you add anything else to the Rakarth Flesh when doing the highlight over the Hull Red? I tend to find that both of those colours are very dark for me when doing highlights like that. Also, your Loren Green looks far lighter than what it normally is too. Unless it's your camera that's making the colours lighter?
When doing the actual painting I tend to up exposure so that it's easier to see what I'm doing. The photos and video at end are more representative. But I am always completely honest with what colours I have used.
Good video, but I'd personally prefer it if you'd kept the schemes it seperate segments. When they are blended together like this it makes the video harder to use as a reference, as your commentary often overlaps between them. Just personal preference, but I think it would help in videos like this (especially when they share the same colour base).
'Naked Chicken Monsters Running Around with Rifles'
Best description of Kroot ever.
On a more serious note, another great tutorial.
These are some of the best Kroots I've seen. A lot of the time they look too cartoonish but these things look terrifying.
And a bit chickeny
@@cultofpaint What's more terrifying than an armed chicken?
Amazing work as always! Would love to see you paint up some crisis suits in the Tau sept scheme from the original faction launch in 2001!

Andy plans to do some Tau this year so I'll see how that plays out. But yeah I'd love a go at that classic tau scheme
Was looking forward to seeing how you’d tackle the Kroot! Excellent work as always, so much inspiration
I love how organic and natural you've managed to make these. Brilliant work!
...dang it yall gonna make me buy Tau again at this rate, that blue skin is FANTASTIC
The green + brown one is such a pleasing combination to look at. Very well done!
thanks!
i'm stealing "Naked Chicken Monsters" for my future army, in fact, I should order the launch box now.

The grey-blue one is absolutely my favourite one, I might have to get the Kroot Killteam and use that style myself!
Looking fantastic as always
THanks
Congrats, all of these vids got me buying an airbrush kit! Thanks alot, now i have even less space in my apartment :D
you're very welcome

Love your painting style & narrative Henry!
Lovely looking schemes!
Wow! Love the blue and green!
Justin getting into warhammer. And I decided the a kroot army will be the first army I build.
Stunning work Henry!
I want an army of Naked Chicken Monsters now... I really dig that green-hued fellow the most.

Another day, another army I don't need that you've sold me on lol.
Absolutely bomb video!
Fantastic work
Kroooottt!!!! Fantastic as always sir!!
Hello, I really like what you do. You are a great source of inspiration for me! Many thanks
Brilliant as always
always looking great!
YES!!!!!! Can't wait to watch this!
Those look phenomenal
Thankyou
Really cool. 👍
You’ve done it again! I used your Alaitoc video as a reference for my whole army. And now this. But I might need to invest in an airbrush…
oh nice!
Just a hint, if you want an Olive drab mix it from Black & Yellow and you can choose the tone you want, it's become my preferred Olive Green
Great work
Those are some great Naked Chicken Monsters!
i love these guy ahhhhhh !!
Fantastic
Tell Andy grats on the Golden Demon!
That blueeeee
Does anyone else say, “Hi Henry” when he introduces himself?
I hear ya

Is there an approach you can make to get similar affect with highlights without using an airbrush at the beginning. Beautiful models btw

Dark skin I wouldn't mind trying as a one off model

This would work great on the Fellgor. For a red just do your dots with rakarth during the preshade stage. Then hit it with red over the top.
@@cultofpaint thank you so much!
Dunno why, but the blue scheme makes me want to go on some kind of Oddysee...
Yes!
Awesome schemes…. Sorry what was the fibres you added at the end? Can’t see it in the description

Are the paints due this year? 🤞
Any tips for airbrushing rakarth flesh? I was trying something similar to this yesterday & had the devil's own job getting it to work.
I was using Vallejo thinner, 2-3 drops per drop of paint.

@@cultofpaint - Can you do a Kroot character tutorial? They have a lot of different textures to the models - especially the Flesh Shaper.
I’m the grimdark future chicken eats you .
Whoooo i am leaving a comment to please the Algorythmic Overlord and the Machine Spirit
Does Games Workshop dictate which color schemes you do for new models? They put up a tutorial using the exact three variations.
Nope. They send us things to review and paint up. That's it. I picked these schemes cos I thought they were nice and varied.
