    Good review, I saw one of these on a local classifieds ad yesterday and wondered if it was worth looking at. Cheers!

    I bought one of these quite a few years back for like $150 brand new. I suck at playing bass. It was cheaper than most used basses I could find at the time and I just needed a "house bass". I let a friend borrow it and he held on to it for just over 2 years and I hardly noticed. Now It just hangs on the wall waiting for someone who can play it to plug it in on jam nights. I basically just admire the sparkly blue paint and thump around on it every few months.

      It's a fine bass for a beginner....it sounds decent too: definitely records well!

    The tuners, at least the strings go strait from the nut to the tuner without an angle sideways. I always like that.

    I'm waiting for mine to arrive tomorrow. How do you like the action? I've heard nothing but good things about this series for a budget bass. Some people don't like how heavy it is, but I like to feel I am holding something. I can't wait to put some .45-.100 flat wounds on it. Thanks for the review!

      The setup on the one I tried out in the video was great and the playability was fantastic.......

    I tried one of these once and i felt like it played really nice for the money, just the right neck profile for me.
    However, the pots were janky, and one of the stacks was completely shot. And this, I assume, was just from people trying it in store. Definately not a road beater!

    A very fair review. I know that there were things you thought were flakey, but were you happy with the neck and body? Everything else could be upgraded.

    • @Rib13Bass
      @Rib13Bass  Рік тому +1

      The neck and body were ok. I don't think there is a lot of route there to work with so pots and electronics will have to be small.....I believe there is a passive version of these basses (TMB30?)

    • @innocentoctave
      @innocentoctave Рік тому

      @@Rib13Bass The TMB30 is indeed passive. But it's also a short scale - 30" - where the TMB100 is a standard 34" long scale.

    It sounded a little "farty" to me; even in the upper registers. I'm extremely underwhelmed (and I'm an Ibanez fanboi).
    Thank you for a great review, though.

    I'm weird in that I like the look and sound. But I know quality control is not so good on these. I bought one and had to return it (fret issues)

      @Rib13Bass  Рік тому +3

      Yeah, my channel is still a work in progress lol......its a full 34" although it doesn't look it.....the bass I held wasn't that heavy (good idea - I may start bringing a scale along to remote video locations)

  • @fladification

    I hate the design of these guitars, well....hate is too strong a word but still. The reason? Because of the "control" plate. Why bother with a control plate if you're not going to put the controls on it? Splitting the controls between the pickguard and the jack plate just makes me angry in such a "why TF did you that" kind of way.

    • @Rib13Bass
      @Rib13Bass  Рік тому +1

      I agree. I was not crazy about that at all. But the main issue was those potentiometers. They just felt fragile - like I could think about breaking them and use The Force to make them fall apart. All it would take is one wrong angled fall off of a guitar stand or a strap pin failure
