I love the antique windows in this reclaimed window greenhouse. For me, they make the structure beautiful. But they also added an element of difficulty. The first step was collecting my windows. This took about 2 years but I finally felt like I had enough that I could plan out what I wanted my greenhouse to look like. I first had to measure and inventory all my windows and then the real work began. In the first video of the Greenhouse Build series we showed you how we made the foundation. The second one showed how to do the framing. The third covered the roofing.
In this installment of our reclaimed window greenhouse build, we show the window preparation and installation.

I like this style best, where the windows are all different sizes. I built one like this, moved, took all my windows and now just poured the foundation for another, only bigger. I have an old mobile on the new property with jalousy windows, I will use quite a few of these for ventilation. Some of my windows have bullet holes which I leave and one came from a barber shop in my home town, has "Broadway" painted in big letters on the glass. I found a set of doors from a church for the front entrance, fancy oval beveled glass in each door.
I will show your video to my builder so he has an idea as to one way of framing them in. Thank you Going to watch the others now.😊

It sounds like it will be a great project. The ventilation is a good idea. That is the only thing I would change about mine. I have a fan but to windows that open. I love all the character that is in the old windows and doors. So much fun!

I am glad that I watched this video. I have collected 29 windows from a neighbor. These windows from the 1800's and early 1900's were milled in an old saw mill in our town that is now run as a museum - the saw mill still works! I have watched other videos where the builder drills directly into the window. I didn't want to do that for fear of ruining the wood and possibly breaking the glass on the old windows. Your installation with the finishing boards to hold the windows in place is a brilliant idea! It does take more time than other installations, and I do not have power at my site. So, a small hammer and nails it will be! I also like the tip about using the Thompson's Water Seal since I want to install the windows with the paint surfaces in the "as found" condition, but still preserve from the elements. Some of the windows I have collected are green, some are black, many are white, and I have a few brown and one red. The different colors adds to the uniqueness! My inspiration is an article I saw one time where a couple built a retreat in the countryside, and one wall was all different windows. Thank you again for this video. I started with Part 4 since that is the first one that popped up for me on UA-cam. Now, I can start from Part 1. Continued success with all of your projects!

The little metal tabs to hold the window panes in place are called Glazier Points.
