Lyrics:
What have I done?
What have I done?
How could I be so blind?
All is lost, where was I?
Spoiled all, spoiled all
Everything's gone all wrong
What have I done?
What have I done?
Find a deep cave to hide in
In a million years they'll find me
Only dust and a plaque
That reads, "Here Lies Poor Old Jack"
But I never intended all this madness, never
And nobody really understood, how could they?
That all I ever wanted was to bring them something great
Why does nothing ever turn out like it should?
Well, what the heck, I went and did my best
And, by God, I really tasted something swell
And for a moment, why, I even touched the sky
And at least I left some stories they can tell, I did
And for the first time since I don't remember when
I felt just like my aold bony self again
And I, Jack, the Pumpkin King
That's right, I am the Pumpkin King, ha, ha, ha
And I just can't wait until next Halloween
'Cause I've got some new ideas
that will really make them scream
And, by Godm I'm really gonna give it all my might
Uh oh, I hope there's still time to set things right
sandy Claws, hmm
Almost everybody on the nightmare revisited comments are all saying "the original is better". But this is a cover album. No one can top Danny Elfman but these artists are great too and again it is a cover album, it's not supposed to be the original. If you wanted that you should listen to that.
Hannah May В этом смысле не было.
Tatyana Franz what
Damn straight :)
Nice not being rude but still getting the message across!
I actually heard this album before watching the movie and it's the reason I finally picked up the film. :)
oh man ,, i love how he says "why does nothing ever turn out as it should?"
calix smith I often find myself saying that when things go wrong
I love that line. It's awesome

I like the fact that he got in character while singing this, he almost captured the essence of Danny Elfman.

One of my favorite covers on this album. Well done!
While lacking in some areas, this song still holds a similar tone to that of the original. It chooses to be a bit more subtle with it's excitement, with calmer background music, but it's still enjoyable. The beginning is especially good, almost like the original. Overall, it's a good song. Nothing fantastic, but still a decent enough song to sit alongside the original.
No one hate me, but I like this better than the original.
I don't hate you even though I prefer the original.
***** When I read 'YOU FOOL' I imagined it in GassyMexican's voice.

the singer of the plain white t's sounds like cryotic
no
I wish he sounded as good as cry does
Cry has a great voice, but without practice and proper warm-ups, his singing voice isn’t too great, honestly.
This aged well-

I like the original soundtrack, as well as most of the covers on Revisited - really neat to hear some of these bands' renditions. They maintain some of Elfman's intended flavor while adding their own distinctive touches.

I love this version. Yeah, they don't have Danny Elfman's range, but they make it their own. It sounds more like a story when they sing it, not just a song.
I'm astounded by how appropriate his voice is for this song
Love this cover.
0:00-1:03 When you trade all your rares in AJ for a fake unrealased
I wonder what was running through their heads while they were singing this
i think of Jack Barakat when i hear this.....
I need help
Yes yes yes, me too!
Claudia Pacheco I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE.
This is a lot cleaner and calmer than the original but lacks the emotion from the original :(
That's what I'm sayin... He doesn't even sound like he wants to sing it like he's just uninterested. I don't like it at all.
That was definitely a problem with some of the songs on this album, but this one isn't too bad to me :)
Matt Long I agree, what I believe you are addressing is the difference between the skills of a singer vs. a voice actor. While there's much overlap, in the film Jack IS the Pumpkin King, so he's coming from the right place mentally, emotionally; whereas the singer here isn't necessarily going to that place. He's doing one song rather than spending the time it takes to make a movie getting into character - less investment. Many of my favorite singers are those who can bring the appropriate emotion, passion and mood to each individual song.
Chucklemaniac agreed
yeah because the original is a *_musical_*
sousnded like Volitare in then begining
What have you done? To jack that is...
just a question about the movie do we watch it on halloween or xmas?

If you go through my favourite songs playlist on mines it's like dub step then Heavy metal then pop......... I don't have a certain taste of music I just like....ALL OF THE THINGS
omg I love pwt they are so cool but don't be so mean there no the same from tim's was a musical so it of course it was like that but these people aren't doing a musical so of course it doesn't sound the same
find a deep cave to hide, in a million years they'll find me only dust, and a plaque that reads "here lies poor old jack" favorite line :3
This is a perfect description of me when I was 13 and accidentally erased my entire wii memmory

I like this version better than the original
This version it's full of personality...well done!
ive been listening to this song on repeat for 4 hours holy shit-
After listening to Elfman's perfection and feeling, everything seems not quiet right.
wow. Done perfectly. The right tone of voice at the right parts of the song. I've been listening to the album and i was disappointed that there actually aren't many songs on it that are done perfectly like this.
this reminds the time I try to be a P.E teacher didn't last long because I was to intimidating :( oh well
i like both versions of this really good :D and this ones voice really adds emotion onto it
In the song jacks lament and this one it says *AND I JACK... the pumpkin king* #easter egg
+B Sullivan In "This Is Halloween", it says "Our man Jack, is king of the pumpkin patch. Everyone hail to the Pumpkin King now!" and you know the rest
I know I love the songs
you can actually understand this version better (in my opinion) c:
I love this song! and the way he sings it is awesome!
This is amazing!!!!!!
Me when I try to fix something
This is a beautiful rendition of Poor Jack ^-^
Who's watching this in 2017?
Mr. Pizza Sprite Man I'm watching on July 18, 2018!!!!!
This is the best song that I heard !!!
The first note played and I already love it
I like this one better.
I like this. But you never really like it as much as the original....hint hint George Lucas
I used to be so obsessed with this movie when I was like a toddler x) And I still love it to this day♥
This si an awesome soundtrack too :)
You can feel the anger and sadness
he did such a great job singing it, kept to the spirit of the song and owned it~
my two favorite things:
The nightmare before christmas
plain white ts
I love this :3
+thechocobyson Chu R everywhere on halloween songs
hahaha I love how into character the lead singer gets. You can really tell they had fun recording this. Awesome cover from one of my best childhood memories! ^_^
I don't think he sounded sad or believable enough at the first part, but at the part where Jack gains confidence again, I think he got into character a lot better.
I think the problem is that he has less emotion than the one from the movie so in comparison to that one this cover has bland emotions.
This was similar to the cover of Jack's Lament (All American Rejects I think?), but the singer pulled off a lot more emotion. Not quite the same as the original but for a cover I think they did very well 😊
I got serious chills when he hollered out "That's right, I AM the Pumpkin King!!" In that moment, he sounded nearly identical to Danny Elfman. Maybe I'm the only one who thought so but, yeah. :P
When life’s being a bitch.

Can’t believe it’s that time of year again!!!
And still can’t believe this is TEN years old!!!!
That was awesome! I love hearing the different versions of these songs
Ilike it when he says " And here lies poor old jakc! " And my fav lyrics of the whole start at 1:22 to the end!
Nightmare before Christmas soundtrack of Halloween
I think I like the studio version done after the movie was made because yes, he does the emotion well, but the thing Plain White T's is missing was the parts where Jack SAYS those lyrics, not sings them and that's what gives them their emotion. Plain White says them slow and to the tempo only and it doesn't sound authentic to me. They tried, and at some parts they did well, but to me they fell flat. Danny Elfman put even more emotion in with the redone studio version, too.
@MsHimynameisawsome I saw this movie in theaters when it was first released. I went AS Jack Skellington for the following Halloween. Thanks to this movie and The Crow I spent my high school years as a semi-goth. Trust me, I understand EXACTLY what you mean. I have to listen to someone who never saw the movie until they re-released it in 3D tell me that they're a bigger fan than me...funny how that happens.
How come when everyone hears a slow sad song or a metal sad sounding song they always bring up the word 'emo'? We aren't 'emo' as you say. We are original. And we have the guts (or the balls) to express our feelings and try to get help. While others bottle it up inside. I know some very happy original people out there. And I'm one. But these comments about 'emos' makes me angry and depressed. Because apparently cliques is all you f**king people think about!
@bluedog88 Ok, I'm going to interfere for a second, I just want to ask you something. What makes you such a GREAT musician that gives you the right to criticize this so harshly? I mean, I respect your opinion, but the way your talking about this song makes you sound like you're a damn expert in music. So can you at least keep your thoughts to yourself for the people who are trying to appreciate this particular cover? Thank You!
@beatensenseless902 Oh, I fully understand what a cover is, thanks for the definition though. But when you do a cover of a song you should do it justice, not butcher it like these guys did. His voice has no inflection and no passion. It is a god awful interpretation. I feel like all these people who left positive comments haven't been touched by the original rendition of this song and are willing to accept this piss poor cover as something good.
I actually don't think this is bad.
I mean, the original is better...but the original will always be better. Its supposed to be.
As a remake, this is pretty damn good. Obviously not exactly the same, but the melody is the same, and it doesn't sound horrendous. The mood is the same as the original too. I actually really like it; if you want to see songs really destroyed, check out Town Meeting Song...
I still can't understand why they didn't use the fall out boy version of what's this instead of flyleaf's. It was much more upbeat and closer to the original movie score than flyleaf's. Plus it was a lot more fun to hear, flyleaf's representation was kind of a downer for me, even though I do like that band too.
Finally a voice who could do a lot of the same vocal styling, for he can actually do those low, vibrating vocals. I love almost all the cover on this album, but the front man of the Plain White Tee's [ his name escapes me at the moment] came the closest to the original, while keeping his own style, BRAVO!
@Seraph825 so very tru i loved this since i was a kid when i first watched it at christmas time, i remba my dad askin me if i wanted to watch it cause it might have been a little scary, now im 23 and cant wait to get my kids to watch it! hate hangers on who have just come in and tell is die hard fans how we should like this movie
No one can remake this song since the original music and singer were PERFECT.
Plain White T's? Honestly, how did you even make it onto the CD? If I had been their supervising the creation of these remakes I might have beaten you out of the studio with Nightmare Before Christmas merchandise.
I may be harsh on this but...god that was just...terrible.
@temarifan987 luckily I went from VHS around halloween time until new years :P then when my tape started waring down I waited until it came on DVD but I could only ever find blue ray -.- but! I have DVR :D now I watch it almost every night, singing to all these songs :P
i know most people love the original movie i do to but i dont go around saying that these versions are crappy because they're too fast or theres not enough emotion yes sparklehorse's version of jacks obession is horrid but other than that the others arent half bad
@gigachamp Lies. Amy Lee with Sally's Song is the best on the CD. Probably the only good thing on this CD. And I like some of the other bands here. Marilyn Manson shouted the lyrics into the mic and shat out some guitar riffs. But at least it wasn't Sparklehorse. Ugh.
@beatensenseless902 Dont think you quite completed your thought there... And there is a difference between being closed-minded and expecting music artists to actually put effort into a song. Its not an insult to Plain White T's, I just dont think they tried while making this song.
I didn't like this song at first, but it's growing on me... Of course, that might just be because I just heard Sparklehorse's song on the CD. Seriously, before you complain about Plain White T's messing up this song, hear how they butt-raped, slaughtered, and cannibalized Jack's Obsession!
I have never heard them in my entire life until this song came out and Danny picked the right singer[s]
They sung this aong absolutley perfectly.
I love it completly♥
Some people make the song slower or worse or something... Nu uh. They were amazing!
=DDD
Image how good this song would be if it was covered by the used! Why would it be so awsome? Well because unlike the singer of the plan white t's, the singer of the used has a fantastic voice and can emote. The same can be said for AAR's cover.
I am still amazed at how well this movie turned out ! EPIC ! Seen it over 30 times and love it ! I like this redo on this and some of the other's.... this song reminds me of.... dang... that one line is ..... can't think what it reminds me of, but.. yeh
@ilovetiggerful I know most people would never have touched this at 5, not even my brother whose to cool for, well anything, who obviously just likes because everyone else does
Disney predicted right, not many kids, much less parents, watched this
@Seraph825 true man i remember when alot more than the hot topic crowd liked this movie i was like 6 when the movie came out and loved it watched it later in the 90's still loved it 00's still do but now people seem to think it is researved for emo kids
@wrenssis
I know! It'd be something a bit different than the original but It'll sound so cool! Then people can compare them and of course all the original stuff would get a lot of publicity and such! It would be awesome to try out!
I think the singing was good, but I think the leads singer's acting sounded false. I can tell he put an effort, but it didn't really work. But then again, comparing anyone to the amazing Danny Elfman is pretty tough.
@temarifan987 i didnt just wait for christmas or halloween to watch it.. I liked it a lot when i was younger not saying it was my favourite or anything but at least i can say i was a fan of it before it was a Fad to like NBC
@temarifan987 I did the same thing. :D I used to watch it almost every week.... But I wore out my VHS tape..... So to preserve it until the DVD came out for the anniversary I began to watch it only on those two dates.
I think the film is the best musical I've ever seen, the songs are so clever and fun. I don't normally like musicals. I think this band did a very good job and his voice suits the song. Ignore the trolls, they get everywhere.
@Seraph825 when i was little i used to watch this movie until i wore out the tape and it came out of my VCR with all of the tape coming out of it :( i miss it i think i liked it better than beauty and the beast xD
@botdfX3 I think Flyleaf just got stuck with the wrong song. They tried to interpret it as a depressed and saddening curiosity, which really isn't what the song's about. They would have done a much better job with Jack's Lament.
Did they even try in this song? It lacks all the quality, passion, and power of the original. They should be ashamed to have even put this out. Pitiful, it sounds like he is talking the whole time and is distracted.
What have I done... What have I done...
I never Intended all this madness... Never...
Why does nothing ever turn out right?
Well what the heck?! I went and did my best...
"AND I JACK THE PUMPKIN KING..."
I LOVE THIS!!!
personally, out of all the other songs on the track, i really think that this one actually captures the essence of the original song. i would give it a 5/5 * and i really hate Plain White T's. but good song
I'm not sure what everyone is talking about, I think the emotion is fine. He sounds sad, happy, grumpy, confident, and excited all when he should. Did you guys want him to cry or something?
this is good, especially love "What have I done", but imo, they screwed up starting at 2:00. the original was more booming (lack of a better word), which is one of my favorite parts. still, this is good
i was singing this so passionately and with so much energy but i then i caught myself saying "that's right...I AM THE BANANA KING!!!" and i burst out laughing :D thanks a lot throughthedarkness13 :)
i like the part in the song where he says
only dust and a plaque tht reads here lies poor old jack
he sounds so cool there lol n i like the part where he goes like wat the heck i went and did my best!
Absolutely agree. I like the Plain White T's, but certainly not this song. This was the most dramatic, climactic song in the movie, and by far my favorite. Pretty dang disappointing.
@Anonymous6131995 You must have never listened to the original version. The Plain White T's version is so superficial; "Poor Jack" simply does not work in an alternative style.
I think it's bullshit that barely any kid watched this movie. I, Seriously as a kid, watched it every Halloween And Christmas. And I know many other people who did the same as kids.
i was a little kid when the movie came out. i used to watch it all the time. over and over. i loved the music and now that its change with the rock verisons i like it so much more.
@Seraph825 Hey! WTF i have like tons of nightmare before christmas stuff i perchased at Hot Topic and Vampire Freaks. The movie suits the Emo,Goth,Industrial,Grunge Cultures.....
