Most people only know the Yoshida Brothers from the song they did for the Wii commercial. They've been around a while. They play traditional instruments (the shamisen is the Japanese equivalent of the banjo) but they have a following like rock stars in Japan.
I randomly watched Nightmare Before Christmas for the first time today. I also randomly started listening to the Yoshida Brothers today. Loved them both, then ironcally enough, they do a song for the movie I just watched.
The first time I listened to this song was in 2011. It was a rainy late afternoon and I was walking aimlessly through my gloomy rural town. It definitely accentuated the mood quite well.
Love music of Yoshida Brothers and Nightmare Before Christmas. Thank you Spartan Fidelity for introducing me to them. Best song on the compilation I can tell before hearing it all. Hopefully the Tiger Army track is as awesome as it should be.
I know a lot of people didn't feel this was "what Nightmare was going for," etc. but I think this album isn't supposed to be just a remake of songs and sounds, but an interpretation. And honestly, from what I've heard so far, it sounds like only the Yoshida Brothers and one other artist actually put some thought into their interpretation. The other tracks sounded like the artists thought, "Hey, cool," went in the studio, came back out, and just didn't really bother with any real thought.
the manga you're talking about came looooong after the movie came around, i have this manga as well but i bought it due to my love of the MOVIE that has been around since before I was born
Not nessecarily firearm references... lock stock and barrel was a phrase used to indicate that everything had been done as a package deal... either when buying a business.... or when someone had been shystered out of something, indicating that the crook had taken everything. Similar to 'hook line and sinker" regarding a lie being accepted.
Lord Jack Skellington, Yakuza Boss.
It's kind of interesting to see these guys amongst people like Korn and Marilyn Manson.

Holy shit, wasn't expecting to see Yoshida Brothers pop up.
This really gives out the vibe of a Japanese folk band crossed between something out of Cirque Du Soleil! I love it!
Jack, Patriarch of the Skeleton family, a subsidiary of Halloween clan
This song is so good. It is like a mixture between a movie and video game.

Yes, but just as "hook, line, and sinker" has its origins in fishing terminology, "lock, stock, and barrel" has its origins in firearms terminology.
