I gotta say as a korean I was really disappointed by our performance. Seeing Japan and Australia playing so well made us realize we were just a big fish in a small pond. Congrats to Japan and Australia I hope they both make it to the semi finals!!

Yeah as a result of Korea's tournament failure, they took all their anger out on China by pummeling them. It's a record number of runs scored and may never be duplicated again. Can you imagine if there was no mercy rule? Korea may have scored who knows possibly 50 runs on poor hapless China.

Indeed after frustrating loss to the Aussies.........Korea used China as a punching bag and thank goodness for the mercy rule
And that wasn't even till the 9th innings. It was only untill 5ths'.
Losing against Team Australia was everything to Team Korea. All teams were great, but the small difference makes a huge impact on results.

it is a painful end that Korea could have won against Australia if they didn't make silly mistakes like ceremony tag-out and runner didn't come home from 3rd base when home is empty. The team Korea showed some detailed fine plays now which were all forgotten on previous games. The team seems just awakened. Big lessons learned.
i really hope South Korea can focus and really retool this team from top to bottom for 2026. Getting eliminated in the first round for three straight tournaments is absolutely unacceptable for a team with the potential of South Korea

The atmosphere in Korea now feels like a funeral home. Everyone is frustrated and desperate for the skills of Korean baseball, and many ways to fix the problems are being discussed. We will surely become stronger and I hope this will not be a lie in 3 years.

On the bright side, you guys still have a great football (soccer) team, as well as volleyball, handball, and maybe even basketball team. I even heard Korea has a decent rugby team too in Asia (only behind Japan)
who cares about baseball.... Do Kwon, the economy, inflation .....sports is last priority.
It's a match between two teams which can't promise the next round, but I applaud them for doing their best.

Question is more for Korea. For Taiwan, the fact that they have to be relegated while Czechia (who is awesome and competitive and never got mercy ruled or twice btw) stays is beyond me. China simply didn’t belong in this tournament.
@@kkb8510 if you looking into Taiwan's group, they are all 2 wins 2 loses, but WBC takes 2 teams that lose the least points to the next round, which is weird, because that's only defense side, if you take offense side into consideration, Taiwan actually scored the most among those teams.
Taiwan defeated Netherlands and Italy, both team are filled with MLB hit line, you didn't even watch the game😂

The biggest mistake of the team Korea was setting up a training camp in the United States.
this tournament is held in Japan which is right next to Korea so why go to all the way the other side of the world to train?
Moreover, the weather in the United States at that time was really bad for heavy snow and storms everywhere.
Their first game against Australia was the most important to them but they had to come out tired after a long journey.

As a former player and Korean fan ,this was a disappointing tournament for Korea but you have to acknowledge that Australia has a better roster than Korea. A bunch of casual fans here who probably never played baseball competitively and don't realize that the Aussies have tons of players who have professional experience both in Australia and in the US compared to the Korean players. Yes there are some players who have experience in the US as well but when the domestic KBO league is about single A or possibly double A level, I think the results were expected. It's only disappointing for the casual fans because the domestic league in Korea is more popular than Australia's but don't discredit the Aussie's team and their talent. It's a good wake up call to change the way Korea develops players, especially elite pitchers which they certainly lack. Japan will always be a powerhouse, hopefully Australia gains more popularity in baseball but that will be difficult since rugby and AFL are the popular ones, hopefully China starts to improve under Ray Chang, and hoping some players from the Czech team get the opportunity to play in more competitive leagues and possibly even some pro contracts.
They can't afford the tickets
The talent pool is very small in Korea. Only a few dozen high schools have baseball teams; whereas, pretty much every high school in Japan and the US have baseball, basketball, soccer, and football teams (US). Korea does a very poor job of balancing academics and extracurricular activities. Most kids either go home or go to hagwons after school in Korea.
@@krnpowr Yes I completely agree. I played baseball through college in the states and was also lucky enough to experience training in Korea under legendary coach Kim Sung Keun back when he was with the Goyang Wonders. I have many friends who are currently playing in the milb/mlb and also are scouts for both the KBO and MLB organizations. I have also done some scouting for the Kia Tigers. In Korea, there are too many things outside the sport that influence a career path whether it's political, financial, etc but I'm sure you already know what I'm talking about. This is probably true for many other countries including the US. We clearly know that athletes in Korea used to just focus on training and rarely attended classes but now is adopting the US way and have their athletes attend classes more. I think it's the right move to allow future success for young kids but it's a difficult transition, especially without much structure. Just like how soccer is adopting many European styles and hiring foreign coaches, baseball needs to study and learn how to incorporate studies into athletics to allow for proper development on and off the field.
This felt like a mismatch lol. Where was this Korea before.

@@abysswatcher4907 true sportsmanship is always trying your best even if the opponent is way weaker than you. Just scoring a few points and substituting all of your main players isn't true sportsmanship. Even though it's a brutal result for China, the players are going to learn a lot from this game.

일본은 아마추어 선수들로만 구성해도 상당히 경쟁력있는 팀들이 만들어질 정도로, 선수층도 탄탄하고, 경기장 시설들도 우리완 비교 할수 없을정도로 야구인프라도 어마어마함. 한국은 이제서야 고척 돔구장이 생겨서 눈비 걱정없이 야구를 하게 되었지만, 일본은 수십년전에도 돔구장이 여러개 있어서 항상 부러움의 대상이었지. ㅎ

그는 투구를 위해 셋 포지션 자세를 취한후에 다시 발을 뒤로 빼서 와인드업 포지션으로 전환했다.
내 생각에는 주자가 있으니 처음에 셋 포지션 자세를 했다가 주자가 만루라는걸 알게되서 도루 가능성이 없다는걸 알게되고 무의식적으로 자세를 바꾼것으로 보인다.
이겨도 즐겁지가 않아....
