As someone who gets stuck on the "ugly phase" of painting a lot: Jay, this looks INCREDIBLE! I loved your explanation of your process; deciding what to pay the most attention to and then sticking with it. That gives me a lot of motivation.
I know!!!! I've been using one of Jay's basing tutorials for a while to base my Slaves to Darkness models, it looks really good with them, my models are going under a massive repaint though
Awesome job! Only suggestion would be to bury another magnet somewhere on the base for the little thigh critter - that way you know it won’t get lost, plus it becomes a basing element!
My big peeve with rules with one off abilities is no token, this is a great way around it! I made a corrupted Shield Drone from Tau and a load of tyranid bits to mimic the rule and token use of the Ghostkeel and named it Parafex
Just completed an Exorcist tank. SO many little details I painted it mostly in small pieces and then assembled as I completed the painting. It turned out gaming ready... no golden daemon in the future, but after 10 years of not painting I am proud of it. I have been watching your tutorials and it helped immensely . Keep rocking these videos!
Love this video. Always great to watch you lay down paint. I especially loved your magnetic dude token. About 3 weeks ago, I bought some clear bit shields for my tau. Did a light speedpaint to tint one and add to my riptide. I then attempted to go to bed, but my mind kept spinning from an idea I couldn’t stop thinking about. I’ve been needed to add stealth drones to my ghostkel’s. They give the same effect your dude token does. But I didn’t have a good method to make them removable that I liked…. but those shields. I got out of bed, dug out the stealth drones. Drilled out holes to either side under the wings, then did the same to two shield bits and magnetized them to the drone. Being able to take the shield off after I use the ability is just sooo cool. Glad to see you had such a similar cool idea!
100% love this style of painting. Great results in a quick way while still looking better than just using contrast paint. Love the channel. Keep up the great work!
I admit, the described monotony of "not done, not done, not done" is part of why I hate batch painting, despite continuing to do it. I only do five or so models at a time these days, but so much of that time is spent blocking in colours or applying the initial (multiple) layers of washes (lacking an airbrush, I use it to build up the initial shading - a sort of reverse zenithal). It's a genuine relief when I get to switch to all the detail work - spending hours building up scratches, chips, and other weathering over different parts. That's the fun stuff. The bit that involves a bit more thinking.
I love vehicles because they're one of the few types of unit that I enjoy the process all the way through. I love painting infantry and beasts but I don't really enjoy building them as much, but I really like building and customizing vehicles. I think walker vehicles are the best because they're a great middle ground between the scale model style of painting and the painterly style, I've been working on a gorkanaut recently and it honestly does feel like just painting a big ork minus the green skin!
The drag with big models is real. I have been in this hobby for almost 2 months and I almost have 2 models done because the rule of cool brought me to Chaos Knights. So instead of counting models, I'm trying to focus on counting army points.
Make sure that for the resilient organism rule you determine if the damage will be blanked before they roll for it if it’s random. For example if you would take d6 damage twice you have to choose which one to blank before the damage is determined.🎉
Currently finishing off a imperial LAAT for legion with 3D printed stormtroopers (painted as shock troopers 👌🏼) grappling down to the ground to rescue a wounded normal stormtrooper and his friend. Really enjoyed a mixture if dry brushing and edge highlights on the LAAT and very proud of it.
The carapace is my favorite and you did it so quickly. It blows my mind. I'm just starting to work on dry brushing. Went through with a dry brush on my space wolves for the main armor to make it look more textured and old. Definitely remember this video for when I start my own bugs
I'm the opposite! I LOVE big models. So fun to see such a large mini come together. Also, because the model is so huge the tiny details don't matter as much as they do on the tiny little infantry. Big models all the way 🤘
Only had one teranofex/tervagon box and it was a nightmare to fully magnetize all the options. I had to sacrifice the belly spines so the tervagon stomach would fit.
Back when i played, i actually loved vehicles more because i could spend more time on them and also because i came into the hobby throw scale modelling initially. Doing tanks was the "logical" transition for me. What i can recommend is, do a squad then a vehicle than a squad/solo character. This way you always have a treat after each thing and you're not stuck painting 10 tanks in a row.
I also have a spreadsheet, but the trick is that I have it listed by unit and configured with point values too. So while I have a binary marker for the state of each unit (owned, built, painted, completed) I also have a total value of my army, so I get about the same enjoyment to from marking a 160 point vehicle or a 160 point unit of twenty guys completed. However, I do very much like big vehicles and don't mind painting them. In fact I find I can get them completed quicker because they do have overall less surface area and fewer details than the brick of 20 models of infantry chaff.
Ive always been a vehicle guy tbh. I remember being *really* excited when the first Imperial Guard all-tank army list got published like 25 years ago. 😅 The Tyrannofex looks great!
I just got myself my first baneblade! The size of the model got me a bit overwhelmed I felt like every large blank area had to have something going on "battle damage, decals" stuff like that it took me a few tries to finally realize that a blank space is okay to have on a large model.
I'm working on two Aeldari Wave Serpents at the moment and they took a lot of time as well. After that there's an even bigger tank on my painting desk, a Aeldari Cobra from Forgeworld. Your Tyranid looks great!
I assume the reason recent space marine tanks have bases is because they hover and its hard to show that without some kind of base. Cause like the Rhino and Land Raider dont have bases because their tracked like an Imperial Guard tank. Votann also dont have bases for our two larger vehicles. Which seems interestingly inconsistent given that GSC and Ork wheeled vehicles tend to have bases in my experience
I like watching you paint tanks more than infantry (still love your infantry) just because we get to see abit more of the creative process across a larger canvas. Maybe you can feel abit better about the spreadsheet if you counted them as points value rather than quantity? Keep up the goodwork EoB, love the videos as always
Being a tyranid player before it was cool, painting brown-dark yellow-light yellow coconut crab scheme...yeah, I hate small gaunts, yet big monsters? Like a charm, just takes same amount of time as 10 gaunts. Yet stays on table longer 😆
I will repaint my very old Space Marine predator tank, as well as the Assault on Black Reach dreadnought, super excited to see those old models come back to life !
I've painted up 2 Razorbacks, 2 Impulsors & one of each Dreadnought... currently working on a Land Raider Redeemer, all of this is for my Blood Angel army.
Another inspirational video Jay I have a Forge World Ork Kill Blaster/Burster that’s been sitting on my desk for a year. The scale has thrown me. The paint looks too flat and I can’t figure out how to balance avoiding too much detail and realism So there it sits staring at me while I do other projects
This is exactly what I’m currently working on (Tfex with rupture cannon from hive fleet behemoth). I have been painting the cannon in bone as my other nid guns are but I do like the purple you’ve done. Might change it to purple if I don’t think the bone does it enough justice

Sicaran Land Raider combo, think Snow-Cat, still collecting parts & ideas.
plotting along.
Is there a way to order already printed?
“I really like dudes” - Eons of Battle Guy 2024
@@alric8940 it’s funny bc he’s gay IRL
It's Jay from Eons of Battle, you uncultured rapscallion
Who doesn't like dudes
Where the dudes at?
@alric8940 followed by "I can finish in 5 to 10 minutes"
man, i wish tanks were real
Maybe tanks were the friends we made along the way.
I do believe in tanks! I do! I do!
What!!!??? 😂😂😂
A wise man once said "just as the eyes are the window to the soul, the soul is a window to the tank"
Me too man.
As someone who gets stuck on the "ugly phase" of painting a lot: Jay, this looks INCREDIBLE! I loved your explanation of your process; deciding what to pay the most attention to and then sticking with it. That gives me a lot of motivation.
the removable token is a stroke of genius
I love it. He's just a little guy
When he said "I don't really wanna get up" - I felt that
5:43 we love you too, Jay ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
BASING TUTORIALS AGAIN PLEASE!!!!
💯 Those basing tutorials are awesome
Agreed! The old ones hold up very well, but we could totally use some newer updated ones
Nice idea man!
I got into the 40k hobby two months ago, and I've been taking your terrains and space marines as inspiration
My big peeve with rules with one off abilities is no token, this is a great way around it!

Jay had too much fun popping that grub on and off the Tyrannofex's leg 😂
Love this video. Always great to watch you lay down paint.

I started an all Battlesuit Tau army, I also gotta get over the "only counts as one" feel with that, im still looking forward to it :p
Calling a walking and screaming lump of biomass a vehicle is wild.
For me I really hated painting vehicles until the new adepta sororitas vehicles came out and now I love/enjoy painting these so much.
I just love how creative you are
Woh, more EoB 'nid stuff, a joyous day indeed
I love vehicles because they're one of the few types of unit that I enjoy the process all the way through. Saw this come up as I was unboxing my Tyrannofex. It's surely a sign.
Man, I wish Jay was real…
Me too 😭 too bad he's just an AI hologram created by Nick so he doesn't have to be on camera 😢
Is this true
@Thatonelizard-fq6fxyeah, someone found it to be true on Reddit…. Jay would be such a cool person.
Cool
Jay, that Tfex looks sooo good!
As a filthy T'au lover, a lot of my vehicles are shaped like *just big dudes*.
But I'm working on a Devilfish right now.
The drag with big models is real. I have been in this hobby for almost 2 months and I almost have 2 models done because the rule of cool brought me to Chaos Knights. So instead of counting models, I'm trying to focus on counting army points.
This is amazing, I just finished my first tank, it sat in primer for 27 years… I want to buy a Tyranofex next, and this video is perfect timing
Make sure that for the resilient organism rule you determine if the damage will be blanked before they roll for it if it’s random. For example if you would take d6 damage twice you have to choose which one to blank before the damage is determined.🎉
This is my favourite paint job youve ever done, the orange highlight made it look insane
It may have the only one model problem, but its all worth it for when it shreads some of Shaun's tanks
I love watching these videos while painting my own models
Been working on an Impulsor for my BT bladeguard. Been enjoying it so far, magnetizing all the weapons and getting ready for paint!
This is an incredible paint job!! I remember how proud I was when I painted my first carnifex back in 2011 in behemoth colours too!
Man i wish Eons Of Battle was real😔
I enjoy the weathering of the tanks. It makes them feel more real.
This might be my favourite thing you've ever painted, great job!
Getting something done that you did not even want to start is not a chore, it's a achievement.
Totally undersold that paint job. Absolutely love it.
Just finished peicing together one of these as well, but holy crap man, great job!!
Brilliant. Really well thought out and painted. Love the base too.
The carapace is my favorite and you did it so quickly. It blows my mind. I'm just starting to work on dry brushing. Went through with a dry brush on my space wolves for the main armor to make it look more textured and old. Definitely remember this video for when I start my own bugs
This monster looks amazing; what a great paint job.
Man that model looks awesome. well done jay
I’ve been working on my Heirophant (the Tyrannofex/Tervigon big sister) for over a year now. Maybe one day I’ll actually finish…
Great paint job on the Carnifex, Jay. We greatly appreciate all the work you put into the project. Can't wait to see your next video.
I have a feeling jay is gonna save those “poison sacs” for a future model. Maybe a Noise Marine that takes a…Different kinda trophy.
It looks super great! The base is amazing and great inspiration for the facial horns 😁
I'm the opposite! I LOVE big models. So fun to see such a large mini come together. Also, because the model is so huge the tiny details don't matter as much as they do on the tiny little infantry. Big models all the way 🤘
the joy on his face with that magnet. I know that feeling
Only had one teranofex/tervagon box and it was a nightmare to fully magnetize all the options. I had to sacrifice the belly spines so the tervagon stomach would fit.

Found you 4days ago and have been constantly watching your work 100% 🎉 my new fave creator
Never thought to use an airbrush till I watched your vids. Always thought it would over paint the model. Love the color scheme!
4:50 they gave the tank truck nuts!
Ive always been a vehicle guy tbh. I remember being *really* excited when the first Imperial Guard all-tank army list got published like 25 years ago. 😅 The Tyrannofex looks great!
That bug is amazeballs! Great work!
Amazing paint job! Your style really shines on big fellas
I just got myself my first baneblade! The size of the model got me a bit overwhelmed I felt like every large blank area had to have something going on "battle damage, decals" stuff like that it took me a few tries to finally realize that a blank space is okay to have on a large model.

SO, so cool dude! I love the colour choices!
Looks amazing. I love your color scheme.

Holy Crap Jay!!! That looks sick. Fantastic work.
That's an amazing paint job honestly
I know what you mean about the commitment that a tank takes, I've been working on a BaneBlade for the last few weeks.
That looks amazing!
You do such a great job of painting!

I will repaint my very old Space Marine predator tank, as well as the Assault on Black Reach dreadnought, super excited to see those old models come back to life !
This came out at the perfect time. Currently working on an armored spearhead for my Crimson Fists
I've painted up 2 Razorbacks, 2 Impulsors & one of each Dreadnought... currently working on a Land Raider Redeemer, all of this is for my Blood Angel army.
Another inspirational video Jay
I have a Forge World Ork Kill Blaster/Burster that’s been sitting on my desk for a year. The scale has thrown me. The paint looks too flat and I can’t figure out how to balance avoiding too much detail and realism
So there it sits staring at me while I do other projects
Looks amazing, dude
Great paint job and really nice tutorial explaining how you did it 👍🏻
that one looks really good Jay! Do a video for the next one too please
Looks excellent well done
me: holy crap that blue is gorgeous
Jay: It looks.... fine
I love tanks! I actually have a fell blade here I need to start
Currently in the middle of making myself a Banesword. I believe today is the first of many painting days.
the tervigon is sick
This is exactly what I’m currently working on (Tfex with rupture cannon from hive fleet behemoth). I have been painting the cannon in bone as my other nid guns are but I do like the purple you’ve done. Might change it to purple if I don’t think the bone does it enough justice
Holy crap that Bone looks AMAZING
"I can knock out anything on these little dudes in 10-12 minutes"
Meanwhile me on week 2 of painting my 20 Beast Snaggaz. 🙃
The detailing and weathering on vehicles Rocks to paint! It's a "GAS.' Nice job on the Tyranid!! 😊👍👍
Omg jay painting my favorite tryanid model in the same hive fleet that I paint it in beat video of all time
No tank ☹️. Just Cadia stands box. Yep just got it a couple weeks ago. lol. Thanks gents!! Fantastic as always!!!
Just finished my first Impulser, I used ALL of the weapons and most of the extra armor bits from my combat patrol to make it mine
Sisters of Battle's Exorcist tank (the pipe organ tank) is by far my favorite tank to paint.
This paint job is beautiful. Wish I could get your to paint my tyranids
"it looks ... fine" dude that carapace looks better than anything I paint
He looks awesome, i really like the color scheme, very vibrant and eye-catching.
Cool looking bug Jay.
Looks amazing!
That magnetised parasite is f'ing cool
He came out amazing!
