The only reason im in the comment section was this right here, every wifes wonders and every husband hate this question... why cant you just do that at home....
Now you just need to go around the country helping guys like me with their single car garage (full of kid toys) make the most out of their tiny space! Woby Hits The Road!
I came here from Paul Carlson's, (Small Workshop Guy), video recommendations of the week, and I am not disappointed. I like the way you organized everything to work the way you need it to work, and when something is not being used, it is out of the way.
I'm a Filipino pastor, have a feeling that you are Asian and I like the way you organize your shop I am on the process of building my own small shop. this video inspire to pursue my dream of having a shop even it is small.
Just got a 20ft container dropped off in my front yard yesterday and saw this video this morning. I had my doubts about being able to set up a proper work space in it but this gives me a bit more confidence. The tablesaw and jointer/outfeed, and dust collection always seemed like the biggest problems. I guess the mobile bases are the answer but man... it just looks like a PITA moving everything all the time, especially if you have to switch back and forth between machines. Guess people have had to deal with worse problems. I'm looking forward to setting it up though. That's half the fun.
If it's located at your house, is there room on the outside of the container for your dust collection with only the switch and the dust collection pipe coming into the container? It would keep your shop more quiet, too.
@@GeneJordan yeah, that's a good idea. It'd mean I don't have to worry too much about filters either. I was trying to keep the hole cutting in the walls to a minimum because the weather gets pretty gnarly here but maybe I'll just bite the bullet and do it.
Love the video. Over the last few weeks I have been reorganizing my shop as well to make things more efficient. It’s very satisfying to make something better that allows you to be more productive 👍🏽
This was very inspirational to me. I have been wanting to do have a more minimalist space for a while (laptop instead of big desktop, get rid of stuff that I don't need, smaller desk ect) this video gave me a tonne of motivation to do so.
An awesome use of space, so well executed. Well done. I'm constantly rethinking my shop layout, which is a 9'x9' shed, roughly 7' at the tallest point. Yes to drawers and mobile cabinets.
Every woodworker feels your pain. "Why can't you do this stuff in the house" no matter what country your from every woodworkers wives are the same. Ha ha. Your shop is banging. The joyous look when you got that Aircon in was like when someone wins the lottery. Keep up the build vids mate. Great woodworker and channel.
This is awesome! Super cool to see your thought process and how you've optimized your setup for the work you do. Definitely inspiring me in how I'm planning my shop layout
I really like the organizational and cleanliness of your workshop even in such a small space. I'm just starting to put together a workshop I mean I'm at the very beginning I'm just starting to buy tools but this is inspiring.
Please video the drawers! I love this! My shop is basically the same width, but shorter. (Technically a single car garage, but with shelves and house junk, there is only about 8ftx12ft or so and then if I wheel the ts out into the driveway, like THAT ever happens!)
Very cool. I too needed a wider, longer jointer, but had floor space issues. I solved the problem w it’s a 12” wide combo machine with a factory helical cutter head. That was 8 years ago and I’m still delighted with its cut quality and accuracy.
Just found this channel and loving the videos. This guy is awesome. Super likable. Reaction to the wife comment is on point. Keep up the great work and videos.
@Woby Design Awesome update, Ben! My 20ft shipping container workshop is also constantly evolving. :) Next project, a DIY removable Panel Saw that mounts to the face of two 18"D x 36"W x72"H and two 24"D x 48"W x 72"H metal storage shelf units placed in-line along one wall of the container in order to break down 4ft x 8ft sheet goods in vertical orientation. :) It will utilize my track saw in a removable, vertically-oriented gantry similar to your Shapoko. The two 18" Deep shelf units are spaced out from the container's wall to be flush with the front of the 24" Deep units, and my 4ft x 8ft sheet goods are stored horizontally in the 6" open space behind the two consecutive 18" deep shelves, with additional lumber and pipe racks above it (up to 97" in length). I open the left-hand side door of the shipping container to access and slide out the 4'x8' plywood & MDF sheets, dimensional lumber, & pipe in the rack behind the shelves, but otherwise they are tucked neatly out of the way. I also installed continuous 20ft long horizontal steel U-channel track rails on each long side wall at 72.5" height. The 72" tall storage shelves just fit under them. I then built FOUR 4ft x ~8ft x 3" thick "torsion-box" overhead rolling shelves that glide on the side wall rails using in-line skate/Rollerblade wheels. So I have a total of almost 8ft wide x 16ft long x ~20" high rolling storage shelves above my head. :) I made 4 swing-down 2.5" deep hinged storage "cubby" cabinet shelf units in the underside recesses of each overhead shelf...so they swing down from the "ceiling" above me for access. They are kind of like overhead cabinet shelves that would pivot down from between ceiling joists. ;) ...Completely concealed and out of the way when not needed. These are perfect for holding aerosol spray paint cans, rolls of tape, my brad & pin nailer guns, sandpaper sheets & discs, lots of boxes of nails & screws, and lathe shaping tools, etc. They are secured opposite the hinge by simple 1/4" x 3" long push-in/pull-out "aircraft pins" in the side rails of each overhead shelf, but you could use 3" long 1/4-20 bolts as well. I can easily roll the 4'x8'overhead shelves to various positions along the rails to access the overhead contents through the almost 4ft gap between them. Lots of storage was obviously important for my use case scenario, ha! The only thing I don't have compared to your shop is the joiner. Yeah, it's a bit more of a "Tetris" scenario, but it works great for me. :) One thing I purchased to add some more usable "benchtop" assembly area is a Vinyl Magnetic Tablesaw Cover from MLCS. Check them out... www.mlcswoodworking.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/smarthtml/pages/magnetic_table_saw_cover.html Seeing your shop layout is heaps of inspiration! If you're ever up in the mountains near Wrightwood or at Mtn. High Ski Resort just North of L.A., hit me up! Cheers!
Again, amazing job dude. Some of your ideas I'll be stealing for when I redo my own workshop next spring. It's a small, one car garage, so making the most of the small space is important.
Brotha ur videos are so chill and relaxed. Sunny days, early morning with coffee and tunes. Very talented individual who I can tell really enjoys what you do. Keep on inspiring us please cause it makes woodworking even more satisfying for me. Later.
I've been debating what to do about draw pulls, and you have come to the rescue! The leather loops will be perfect for my narrow space (*just* enough space between the cabinets and the bench to pull the drawers out all the way). Your drawer fronts look amazing, but I'm rewinding back the little rack by the door--that looked handy. Now build your wife a nightstand or an organizer for the pots or something. :)
The wife re: the "why"; I've had that same look on my face for 20+ years... I will warn you from experience NEVER answer that question, let alone with the truth. ;-D
Of all the amazing things you’ve done in that small space, I’d like to take a second to admire that clamp rack. I’ve seen many clamp racks, many space saving clamp racks, they all look... utilitarian. This is a space saving design with a great aesthetic. Bravo. Also congrats on just about every maker/content creator making your camera jig. You are on 🔥 🔥 my man!! Keep it coming!
Sounds like we might get a few home improvement videos in the future?! 😉😉 But honestly would not mind if you did decide to post a few things like that. As always love the videos and your work...WOOOO!!!
Great work, love how you utilised the whole space so practically. Hope you secured that work bench to the wall so it won't tip over. Probably you did* As for the"why moment"of your lovely wife. I felt that so much brother. Keep up being awesome.
My shop is even smaller with a worse layout but I never complain. It is just a matter of mindset and ways on how to redesign large furniture until you can manage it in your shop. Nice job! Regards, Etna.
Congratulations! Absolutely most awesome!! Been waiting for this video..met all thoughts, projections and expectations. Great insight, thoughtfulness and creative genius. You're an inspiration and comedic - both naturally! Keep it up! Cheers!!
New here, great job on taking such a small space and getting such a great work flow and organization set up! My favorite is the cnc under miter saw wing!
Waw thank you ! Just begining my adventure with a new business and is in the process of building a shipping container workshop. Hey, greetings from Aruba🌴. Want to wish you many many success with your company
The wife's comment is just classic! lol
LOL, this dude keeping it too real. He'll find himself in the doghouse with the only way to get out is to do a 20 video series on a kitchen remodel.
The only reason im in the comment section was this right here, every wifes wonders and every husband hate this question... why cant you just do that at home....
My wife always asks me "why do you need all this stuff?"
Hell, I’m a single woman and I ask *myself* that question...! ;-)
You’re enthusiasm is so infectious it’s insane!
No you are enthusiasm

A frame for the A/C and a shiny parquet. All made with veneers.
Great job man.
I felt that in every way possible redone my 80 square feet workshop and most thing I did was carrying stuff around and back in.. great job man !👍
I love how many things you can store in that little container.
Love the video. Over the last few weeks I have been reorganizing my shop as well to make things more efficient. It’s very satisfying to make something better that allows you to be more productive 👍🏽
Rearranging my workshop is always a great couple of days. Great video. Very satisfying.
Please do a video on the work bench.
Very impressive work, based on a clear understanding of your REAL needs and constraints !
The Wife: "You never know." LMAO Classic and great video. Love your shop.
I just reorganized my garage. I feel the WOOOOOOOO! I just walk in and smile.
This was very inspirational to me. I have been wanting to do have a more minimalist space for a while (laptop instead of big desktop, get rid of stuff that I don't need, smaller desk ect) this video gave me a tonne of motivation to do so.
Glad to hear that!
Great way to show off the improved workflow! Really emphasizes how much space you gained. Thanks for sharing!
Just awesome!! So well planned out and everything looks amazing. Favorite part is that everything gets the pull up test!!
An awesome use of space, so well executed. Well done.
I'm constantly rethinking my shop layout, which is a 9'x9' shed, roughly 7' at the tallest point. Yes to drawers and mobile cabinets.
Truly an inspiration for us with limited space. WOOOO!!!
Looks wicked, great use of space

Oh nice, I thought it was a nod to Norm, both just as awesome!

Thank you for this - was feeling bummed about my small space, but this showed me it can be done - just need more drawers! :)
