I use this on Wyll, as a bound weapon multiclassed in paladin. Lots of smites. But it's still paired with reverberation, and Phalar Aluve, as my character is afflicting everyone as a heavy armor storm sorcerer. It's a horrifyingly effective combo. It's just too bad its so hard to freeze anyone, that would send this into orbit.
Congrats! This video is doing really well! The Ranger bit was funny, but do you honestly think Multiattack Defense is bad? Its one on the better defensive abilities in the game in my opinion.
Thanks, Aestus! You know, I'm embarassed to say it, but I made that joke without having tested Multiattack Defense personally. So I don't have an informed opinion. I do think the other two options are underwhelming for level 7 abilities. I think my unthinking instinct was that most of the attacks you receive in an average round are not a subsequent attack from the same creature, so it won't apply to most attacks. But I guess I'm not even sure that is true, particularly by the point of the game that you can get it. And perhaps more importantly, it would only need to apply to 1 in 4 attacks to be equivalent to the defense fighting style, which is at least solid. 2 in 4 would be like getting +2 AC, which would definitely be good. Reading it more closely, it also now occurs to me that it probably has some edge value I didn't take into account. It applies until the start of their next turn, so it gives you some free defense if you provoke opportunity attacks on your next turn. I also wonder if it counts as "applying a condition" for the purposes of proc'ing certain items.
@@Build-a-Barbarian-Workshop By late game there are a lot of enemies that attack more than once in a turn, and a +4 to AC is a lot. Some can make a TON of attacks, like Orin. But I feel like there is a tactical value to it that is beyond the actual numbers, and that is the "you won't burst me down" effect. With multiattack defense, a single enemy won't likely be able to kill you through attacks in a single turn. That means passive healing a shield effects can't get countered. Full class Hunter Minsc with Sword of Chaos, Periapt of Wound Closure, and Multiattack Defense is very hard to kill. The other level 7 Hunter abilities ARE a joke though! 😂
@@Aestus_RPG Yeah, great point about the tactical value. Attacks against the same party member are more important to defend against than attacks in general. That Minsc build sounds fun. On-hit heals have to be nutty with Whirlwind Attack. I'm doing the Periapt + Shattered Flail combo on a Tiger's Bloodlust character right now and it's crazy how much healing you can get off of cleave effects.

how about just going for the drunken master build with tavern brawler monk? do the weapon buff stack with unarmed attack? pretty great if it did, as unarmed attack hits multiple times
Love this build. A little funny and a lot of brutality.
i dropped my ranger at the start of act 3 cuz i got bored of the class. im just about to ding 11 tho so I think this build has reinvigorated my interest in his campaign
i think a strength based monk with taver brawler would work great too at least for the flavor of a drunken kung fu master
Slap crossbow expert on it too to remove the debuff from close range and duel wield hand crossbows
Strenght debuff works great with ensnaring strike for ranger.
Oh I didn't know phalar did that. I mean it makes sense (for each non thunder instance of damage it trigger an additionnal 1D4 thunder) but I always neglected it... I probably won't anymore, it's powerful ^^.
Now we just need the pandarian as a race :,)
Drunk fighter + monk = Jackie Chan Drunken master
Sounds like an amazing build for RP'ing Thor from God of War Ragnarök 😂
Is there a Drunken Fist/Rock Lee Monk build?
There is : lvl 9 monk, way of the palm for resonance ki strikes (aoe), Drunken Cloth from guild's vendor in the sewers, and Amulet of the Drunkard from Sharess' Caress vendor. Viable build as soon as act 3 start ;)
Soooo a drunken sharpshooter - yes
seems like you have advantage on attack roll while drunk, so play a rogue for free opportunity attack because you're drunk
All her life Lae'zel dreamt of wielding a silver sword 😥
you need to make a heat build!
Special Fightin Booze I love it.
I am here from Aestus, thanks for the great video!
Fallout does it right with +1 STR +1 CHA and -1 INT from alcohol.
The fact that weapon buffs apply even if you don't have it in hand is kinda busted. I had a bow that gives advantage on attacks against monstrosities and it also applied to my spell attack rolls. 😅😅
I believe that if you put the wines n stuff in a backpack in your inventory they won't be seen in the camp supplies. might be wrong tho
Yes alcohol is a debuff for charisma. I mean you don't feel the debuff when you're drunk...but everybody else can see it.
If only the greatclub was a monk weapon, then you could combo with tavern brawler
That thumbnail is so funny
Nice bro, I like the originality
Think this would be a fun fighter/tempest cleric multiclass?
There’s also a chestpiece with drunken synergy
I use this on Wyll, as a bound weapon multiclassed in paladin. Lots of smites. But it's still paired with reverberation, and Phalar Aluve, as my character is afflicting everyone as a heavy armor storm sorcerer. It's a horrifyingly effective combo.
It's just too bad its so hard to freeze anyone, that would send this into orbit.
Why multi to pala? Warlocks can bind weapons themselves.
@@Kalenz1234 No, he's bound via warlock. But I go paladin for smites and group support, etc.
5:52 i snorted and choked in the train thanks
I swear there's more drunk magical items you didn't include
Drunken Master.
I think there's an item that can be drunk from infinitely in act 3 as a prize from the spin the wheel in the circus. (Can someone else confirm?)
You should probably add the location of the items showcased in this video.
Item locations are available at the wiki links in the video description! Although yeah I maybe should have called attention to that in the video itself
god damnit gale
GWM not working with greatclubs is wack. I was using a somewhat similar build, but using the drunken master monk mod, and the greater greatclubs mod. because greatclubs are just super annoying in vanilla. 1d8 for a big two handed weapon? They should be heavy 1d12/2d6/3d4 weapons imo, though i eventually changed it out to karlach.
If your Lae’Zel isn’t an eldritch knight, you’re failing.
What if I am an eldritch knight myself? Don't need a second one in the party, she needs to be different.
@@andersfrieden567 Well then you’re fine
i guess i'll do a drunk monk build
Could the advantage from Tippler's Rage apply to unarmed attacks as well? Would you be able to use it as a stat stick for a drunken monk sort of deal?
dont think you can do unarmed attacks while holding a melee weapon (not with your main attack action i mean.bonus action attack should work)
You can with open palm monk
great build and love the humer xd
