I was top 10% in PPC since I started playing from launch. It was all f2p, but I recently started purchasing mp to save for Bianca Abystigma skin. 5 star weapon can be farmed for free in co-op. Also, I didn't have a six star weapon till Nier collab.
Well, ideally you should be pulling for Uns when they debut on their debut banner with 100% guarantee. I can't really recommend pulling on any of them if you're f2p, unless you have a surplus of black cards after pulling the upcoming omns.

Played PGR for 3 months, kinda shame that Uns gameplay wasn't expanded and as fleshed out as omns.
You still use them in a bunch of endgame modes, but eventually they become irrelevant.
I'm still calling them Compositors.
And there's me who confused why "Construct" and "Transcendant" turned into Omni and Un

No, the upcoming omns are way stronger and it would be hard to go to legend without them.

It depends on the character. You can get SS for free for all characters through ppc skulls and guild currency. Nier A2 needs SSS to be op.

This is for new and returning players. You shouldn't pull for their 6* weapons anyways, it's not necessary.
