Thank you for this tour. The circuit explanation is a great help for those of us who are trying to understand audio electronics and you made it really simple, like with the tantalum coupling the parts of the channel. Looking forward for the rest of the mods episodes to grab some more knowledge.
The 24 and 32 channel consoles were the same frame, just that the 24 was loaded with 8 blank faceplates where the missing channel strips are. I have a 32 channel console (intact), but short loaded to 22 channels. Also, the modification on your strip was to turn the PM1K into a monitor console.
I know why they put those pots for the switches. It's so you can use them as extra aux's. Having used this console, that would have been nice to have because you can, say, send something to a reverb via one of the program busses and not be forced to send it at the level the channel's fader is. Nice.! You run out of auxes really quick when mixing on this thing.
I wonder if you have any idea who did the mods on the channel in this vid. I have a 28ch PM1k with 8 busses, and the channel strips have been modded with the exact same color knobs on the pots. Wonder if it was the same person who worked on yours... Hm.
I have two channel strips with same modded knobs and hand drawn pointer. I think I got them from a florida seller, it was an Ebay buy years ago. The PCB has hand-written in ink "Epcot". I can only think of one reason to write Epcot and that's Disney. I bet they used these for controlling voices on rides. Hoping somebody else could confirm.

Thanks for the encouragement. I need to get better about doing these videos the right way. I’m getting there.
That fake linear fader is so cool. It's amazing that was the cheap option!

Cool, good to know! Thanks.

Are you selling any 1073 mod kits currently? Or plan too in the near feature?
