Love this message today. Learning to love and accept myself more instead of judging myself has been quite the journey the last few years, but it's been beautiful and so worth it. I totally agree that sometimes we can get too rigid with the self-care practices and judge ourselves for it. Thank you for your message today, Michael Dennis!
I feel you on this brother. I catch myself overthinking and trying to force myself to do tasks that are good for me. I've had a lot more anxiety since becoming a content creator
Great topic Michael! Well done! 👍 It's such a great reminder to not judge ourselves! Especially when taking action. I always remind myself that there is no right or wrong action, only useful action because ALL the things we do give us feedback. And then we can use that information to continue to take action towards the direction of our preferred experiences. Thanks for the reminder 🙏
WOW, that one is over my head. I think I got the wrong meaning. It sounds like it's ok to be lazy and not worry about self improvement. There's a handful of stuff I dislike doing daily but I find away to tolerate it to get it done. The next day I have a sense of accomplishment and growth from it that ends up making me happy. But to each his own. You do you and I'll do me. See you on the next video. 👍
Yes there's certainly a fine line and this mentality could probably lead to some laziness. I guess what it is is that I've always been suuuper responsible and a pretty hard worker so I'm constantly worrying about whether or not I'm perfectly optimizing my time, and that can be very taxing on my energy. I hope this kind of helps clear it up but I love that you shared your thoughts even though you disagree! A lot of people don't do that haha
First of all, great video! I totally agree that anxiety comes from overthinking and ‘searching for a cure’. What I notice myself that this happens unconsciously and it feels like an automatic pattern. When I try to stop ‘searching for a cure’, I notice I fall back in overthinking and automatically the anxiety comes back. Do you have any suggestions about how to make this switch to not overthinking in a more permanent way?
I feel you on that, I've always struggled so much with overthinking and it's tough to get away from it completely. One of the things that works best for me is to somehow put things into perspective, because 99% of the time when we're overthinking, it's about things that ultimately aren't that important and when you really zoom out and look at yourself you sometimes realize that it's silly that you're overthinking. Alan Watts refers to this as "getting caught up in the rat race" -- the idea that life is just kind of a game and a lot of people forget that and take it too seriously and freak out over nothing! This isn't a perfect "cure," but I hope it helps!
Oh man, I used to waste so much time overthink silly stuff too. I am a very active person, when I find myself at home doing nothing I think I am doing something wrong, specially if the sun is out. with the currently situation we all are experiencing right now I learned how to just relax at home with no guilt, I still love being outside but when I am at home I am just at home no more overthinking. but i still need to work on it, specially with eating 😂 like you said should I be eating this now or in 30 min....
