My only gripe with maining Dizzy is the Potemkin MU. Playing Testament for two years and having to deal with the horrible Pot MU to swapping to a character with arguably an even worse MU into Potemkin is my definition of insanity.
@@Nobody-cd1he This would be a long rant, and I don't wanna write paragrahps but to summarize: Potemkin has multiple means to close the gap between him and Dizzy, meanwhile Dizzy struggles to keep him in her preferred ranges. A lot of her offensive or block pressure becomes really scary to do against Potemkin because of her lack of multi-hitting specials to cancel into (i.e., Fire Dagger can be Bustered). She struggles immensely with shield super. She can't anti-air Potemkin, and air-to-air against Potemkin often results in an unfavorable trade. Lack of defensive options on Dizzy's side. Her main multi-hitting normals are pretty slow. She almost never lands her big normals on Potemkin that result in large damage, so it's a game of slowly decreasing his HP and playing ultra patiently, meanwhile the Potemkin only has to hit you twice before he can just sit back and force you to overcommit with Slide Head, Flick, or Shield Super.
Dizzy may not be good, but I'm still ride or die for her. I think this is gonna definitively be my main for strive going forward, she's just so much more interesting than every other character
Diaphone, I have STRESSED about Dizzy's hit-interaction inconsistencies between some of her gatling strings and normals, especially her 5H/ standing heavy slash so much and I'm so glad you finally pointed this out!! 🙏🙏🙏
To me she’s good but she just feels incomplete. In her character starter guide they described using her strong specials to set up wings of light as a win condition. However the win condition, WoL happens to be really bad more often than not. So now she’s left without her intended win condition. Her saving grace are her strong specials and mix up but again she’s left feeling incomplete. IMO at least
i personally think wol should be full screen. They could nerf it’s duration or start up but i think the move should be about forcing your opponent to engage and right now if you have it set while zoning it doesn’t do anything. Alternatively they could buff her midrange game or jump-ins

Dizzy feels like a character that has a handful of super clear weaknesses and just fixing a couple of them would make her pretty solid My two would be fix her giving the opponent resources from ice combos and extend the hitbox of j.S and j.H downwards, having non-ass air normals in particular would be huge for helping her keep people out and do better mixups with airdash back jump attacks
I wish her ice spike had a bigger vertical hitbox too. I cant even count the amount of times spike LOOKS like it clipped someone in the air only for it to whiff and then I die cus that move takes forever to recover
She really feels like her tools just don't quite click, it's like when you're cooking food and the taste is sort of flat because there's one flavor profile you're missing to make everything come together. I think if they got rid of the insane resource scaling on ice spike and maybe adjusted neutral to give her better ways to discourage people from just running straight at you, so she was like a red light green light zoner--which sort of seems to be the direction she's leaning--and then made wings of light a factor to pack on the pressure with her blockstrings, she'd feel like she's ready to compete with what everyone else is cooking with this season. She's not quite there yet. She's pretty cool though. I like her.

Honestly think she could make it to mid tier if they changed the ice meter gain stuff, made fS not terrible, and gave her S slash from 2P. More stuff I'd like for making her like how she historically has played (fish consumes the hit box and counts as a whiff), but maybe that's too much. Historically it hasn't been and it feels REALLY weird fish isn't a whiff in this version like it was in literally every other guilty gear.
For j5D, the recovery is so low that you can air dash behind it to push safely, and there's some setups where it even gives you mix. Never seen anyone talk about it tho
I'm not home rn, so I can't check every one, but 2 I can tell you are 1. After 2d kd, you can jump over them and use j5d. It'll give you a left/ right mix with jK depending on when you used j5d, and you also keep your airdash. 2. I believe you can get a high low with grab (I think only in the corner, idk) where you jump and hit jK on their wake up, then use j5D. The low recovery allows you to either hit another jK for an over head, or to press jS/H to land cancel it, and go for a 2k I think these two routes are interchangeable, but I don't remember

My biggest problem with Dizzy is how much of her kit is tied to Heavy Slash 236H, 214H, 22H, 6H, and 632146H There have been a lot of times where I am going for I Used This to Catch Fish and then und up doing 6H because I'm bad. Or just sitting there trying to do the super and doing.. 6H again or even 22H because idk how in all honesty Wings of light should be 22P Gamma Ray maybe should be 632146K I'd be happy then. I wouldn't be fat fingering the wrong move because I'm bad lol

I think Dizzy has some best in class offense and even conversions, but so much of her feels extremely constrained. My main issues with her are 1. Terrible ways to interact with aerial opponents 2. Almost all her heavy buttons serve the exact same role meaning that they’re extremely redundant (even in frame data) 3. She has strong conversions, but her ability to convert off of projectiles is very difficult (outside of spike ofc). K Fish especially is kinda frustrating to work with 4. Bad movement. She has a the same bad backdash data as Baiken and Asuka, her aerial game is very poor and her buttons don’t support it well. She accelerates fast, but otherwise it feels like she doesn’t really cover a lot of space in any direction super quickly unless she is forward dashing on the ground. Micro spacing feels very annoying sometimes 5. System mechanics hate her! (Freeze state scaling) There’s also some weird things, like her throw oki situation feels really messy (albeit strong) like they made it knockback too far Also some of her air hits like jK will link into cS but won’t link into 2H for some reason, which isn’t a problem really with 6H but it feels REALLY bad

I have played a lot of low tiers in this game who got buffed later, but this time I really tried to cope with Dizzy, and she is better than most of them... but I was simply gapping against people who didn't know how to play against her. After week 2 it's just been miserable especially with her current spread of MU's. My bad for coping... Tom Brady, take me to Valhalla...

Honestly, from my more casual perspective, there are really only 4 things about Dizzy that make me really not like him playing her: 1: Her jump ins suck. Her jk is her only air normal that can hit below her. This wouldn’t be so bad if she could do jk jd, on normal hit, but unfortunately she cannot. And, even if it hits, she is often minus on hit unless you hit the jump in really deep, in which case you do get a 2d knockdown which dizzy does have some pretty good mix off of, even if it really only leads into itself again. 2: Her anti airs are not good. 6p is her only passable reactionary anti-air, and it is still very slow for a 6p, and it doesn’t give much of a reward at all on normal hit. It is pretty miserable to have a zoner who can’t anti-air. Sure, you can use P-Fish to cover the air, but if you try to set it up in neutral your opponent can just run up and counter hit you. 3: She struggles a lot with getting anything off of her 5 frame 2p. If you are point blank, you can do 6p into S mikale sword. You can’t even get a second 2p first. It just makes mashing out a lot harder than it really needs to be. 4: She uses Blue Wild Assault surprisingly poorly. Her only even somewhat useful cancel options off of it are fire spear and charged 6h, and in both of those cases you just get plus frames, and you would be more plus by just letting BWA recover. And no, fish leaves her minus 8 if she cancels into it from BWA, so that doesn’t work. Honestly, it feels like she would be better served by having Orange Wild Assault. Sure, she wouldn’t be able to combo into throw anymore, but I’d rather be able to actually convert off of my pokes than get a TOD off a counter with an 18 frame move while I am corned with 50 meter. 5:A lot of her normals feel useless. Seriously, what is even the point of her 5h or 2s? 5h never freezes in situations where it’s ability to freeze would be actually useful, and 2s is shorter than Far slash, not even hitting round start, has basically no utility in combos, and isn’t even a low. Bonus: The Potemkin matchup. It is just miserable as dizzy. It is winnable for sure, but it is miserable. Pot can flick all of you zoning tools outside of mikale sword, which he can just armor through, knock you down and start pressuring you. Then, because dizzy has a bad defensive modifier but the same amount of guts as Anji, she takes a massive chunk of damage from pot buster or heavenly. Sure, far slash is good at breaking pot’s armor, but that is just about the only good thing dizzy has going for her in this matchup. Also, dizzy builds her opponent a ton of meter, like you mentioned, and you know what pot can do with 50 meter? Giganter Kai! Now pot gets in, and you better guess right or you go good night. I have seen 3 giganters in a round with zero gold bursts before. Yay. Maybe some of this is me being a scrub, but frankly it turns dizzy from a character I would have loved to play to a character that I find to be kind of sad a lot of the time. I really hope these issues get addressed in the next patch, but Dizzy probably won’t get any changes outside of bug fixes until Unika gets added.

She's paying for her crimes as +R Dizzy now. Xrd Dizzy was weak to start but had some good QoL buffs to be a pretty strong character by the end so there is hope

i don't think she's top 5 but she's easy to learn and very flexible with how you can play her she feels ok for the most part but i wouldn't take her as a primary she does cover some matchups that i don't like playing with sol which is very nice tho
Bedman? was broken on a character functionality level, dizzy is broken on a system level. Feels bad knowing that dizzy won't be fixed until like when venom is released or end of season 4. Should could definitely use an emergency patch.

I just can't get over the fact that they took away her double air dash from the old games. It just doesn't look or even feel like I'm fighting Dizzy anymore when I'm Pot.
Her strengths are comparable to a bunch of other characters without the associated weaknesses. For example, her corner pressure really that much stronger than Johnny's or Sol's or Goldlewis'? Do they pay the same price?
Dizzy definitely feels like she got kneecapped at some point prior to her launch. I refuse to believe this character went through primary testing with that 6P and no one said anything about it

@@icy2275 Ice spike isn't full range and it's -12 on block or even more negative on ice floor cast. You can take a chance and transform then but vary from time to time so the dizzy has to take risk with either going in or doing ice floor. You can superjump most of her shit her AA is horrible unless that 1 fish is out. Also pretty sure ABAs gameplan against zoners is to literally gamble since your reward will be higher than theirs.
The major thing is that she's technically not dizzy. She doesn't really have all the things that made dizzy well dizzy. In my eyes, this version of dizzy has gotten hit with the same thing that Ram and jack-o did just not to that degree. She's not weak or low tier, but she definitely struggles against 99% of the cast, especially the rush down and zoners of the game. If they kept dizzy very close to her rev 2 counterpart, then she would be way better off, especially since Venom will essentially do what new dizzy does but way better. Remember that damn near everything this version of dizzy but its way better imo and i dont even like venom.
@UltraThroatKick, that's true but highly unlikely. Removing anything important to his kit will be disastrous. I view venom's kit like jenga there's only a few things that aren't important that they can remove or place differently but if they remove an important thing then the character comes crashing down and being unrecognizable.

With venom, it would be stupid for them to change him alot since he has bits and pieces that if removed he comes crashing down and atp you can't call him venom. We will see what will happen though. From a logical standpoint they shouldn't remove 99% of his things but as usual they choose simplicity over the right thing. Mind you that I don't like venom but I can respect who he is a character and the amount of skill needed to play him. I don't want them to keep stripping their identities away for the sake of simplicity.

2: Her anti airs are not good. 6p is her only passable reactionary anti-air, and it is still very slow for a 6p, and it doesn’t give much of a reward at all on normal hit. It is pretty miserable to have a zoner who can’t anti-air. Sure, you can use P-Fish to cover the air, but if you try to set it up in neutral your opponent can just run up and counter hit you.
3: She struggles a lot with getting anything off of her 5 frame 2p. If you are point blank, you can do 6p into S mikale sword. You can’t even get a second 2p first. It just makes mashing out a lot harder than it really needs to be.
4: She uses Blue Wild Assault surprisingly poorly. Her only even somewhat useful cancel options off of it are fire spear and charged 6h, and in both of those cases you just get plus frames, and you would be more plus by just letting BWA recover. And no, fish leaves her minus 8 if she cancels into it from BWA, so that doesn’t work. Honestly, it feels like she would be better served by having Orange Wild Assault. Sure, she wouldn’t be able to combo into throw anymore, but I’d rather be able to actually convert off of my pokes than get a TOD off a counter with an 18 frame move while I am corned with 50 meter.
5:A lot of her normals feel useless. Seriously, what is even the point of her 5h or 2s? 5h never freezes in situations where it’s ability to freeze would be actually useful, and 2s is shorter than Far slash, not even hitting round start, has basically no utility in combos, and isn’t even a low.
Bonus: The Potemkin matchup. It is just miserable as dizzy. It is winnable for sure, but it is miserable. Pot can flick all of you zoning tools outside of mikale sword, which he can just armor through, knock you down and start pressuring you. Then, because dizzy has a bad defensive modifier but the same amount of guts as Anji, she takes a massive chunk of damage from pot buster or heavenly. Sure, far slash is good at breaking pot’s armor, but that is just about the only good thing dizzy has going for her in this matchup. Also, dizzy builds her opponent a ton of meter, like you mentioned, and you know what pot can do with 50 meter? Giganter Kai! Now pot gets in, and you better guess right or you go good night. I have seen 3 giganters in a round with zero gold bursts before. Yay.
Maybe some of this is me being a scrub, but frankly it turns dizzy from a character I would have loved to play to a character that I find to be kind of sad a lot of the time. I really hope these issues get addressed in the next patch, but Dizzy probably won’t get any changes outside of bug fixes until Unika gets added.

She's paying for her crimes as +R Dizzy now. Xrd Dizzy was weak to start but had some good QoL buffs to be a pretty strong character by the end so there is hope

Day one Dizzy here: you're absolutely not wrong. But I'll be damned if I didn't say I still love her similar to Elp and she was also low tier
i don't think she's top 5 but she's easy to learn and very flexible with how you can play her
she feels ok for the most part but i wouldn't take her as a primary
she does cover some matchups that i don't like playing with sol which is very nice tho

Bedman? was broken on a character functionality level, dizzy is broken on a system level. Feels bad knowing that dizzy won't be fixed until like when venom is released or end of season 4. Should could definitely use an emergency patch.

@@proph6022 it rlly isnt all her pokes go further, are quicker, corner spam is brutal, and her ice counters so bad if u try to active JR from afar, and then the ice floor itself negates most of Aba's speed and her rekka combos. its just bad
@@icy2275 Ice spike isn't full range and it's -12 on block or even more negative on ice floor cast. You can take a chance and transform then but vary from time to time so the dizzy has to take risk with either going in or doing ice floor. You can superjump most of her shit her AA is horrible unless that 1 fish is out. Also pretty sure ABAs gameplan against zoners is to literally gamble since your reward will be higher than theirs.

7 months it seems the aba guide is never coming out the well has seemed to run dry and the people have lost hope
The major thing is that she's technically not dizzy. She doesn't really have all the things that made dizzy well dizzy. In my eyes, this version of dizzy has gotten hit with the same thing that Ram and jack-o did just not to that degree. She's not weak or low tier, but she definitely struggles against 99% of the cast, especially the rush down and zoners of the game. If they kept dizzy very close to her rev 2 counterpart, then she would be way better off, especially since Venom will essentially do what new dizzy does but way better. Remember that damn near everything this version of dizzy but its way better imo and i dont even like venom.

@UltraThroatKick, that's true but highly unlikely. Removing anything important to his kit will be disastrous. I view venom's kit like jenga there's only a few things that aren't important that they can remove or place differently but if they remove an important thing then the character comes crashing down and being unrecognizable.

@UltraThroatKick that's kinda true. Some characters lost alot and some lost little to none. With venom, it would be stupid for them to change him alot since he has bits and pieces that if removed he comes crashing down and atp you can't call him venom. We will see what will happen though. From a logical standpoint they shouldn't remove 99% of his things but as usual they choose simplicity over the right thing. Mind you that I don't like venom but I can respect who he is a character and the amount of skill needed to play him. I don't want them to keep stripping their identities away for the sake of simplicity.
