Please keep Troydon around! Really good at relating how the bike rides/feels/etc... Plus he's tall (6'6" here) so his perspective is very much appreciated!
I’m about your size and ride a 2015 Highball. Been looking at the Hightower to have some more fun. You fit the bike ok? What’s your set up as far as stem length and dropper travel?
rian4224 it has a reverb dropper. I think it’s 150, maybe more. It came with a race face aefect r stem that was 50 mm long. I switched it out for a 35 mm stem cuz I prefer the more direct handling. I need legroom but wanted the bars back and up. I’m running renthal carbon bars with a 40 mm rise
I’m thinking about getting the 2018 SC Hightower CC. The only thing I can’t decide is if I want the GX Eagle setup or the X01 setup. It is a giant price comparison but don’t know if it’s worth it just for a lighter bike and better shifting..
If you are looking to save some money and do not care about the weight I would just go with the GX build. The GX groupset works great! The biggest difference I feel between the GX and the XO1 is the shifter. The XO1 does have higher quality construction and feel as well as lever adjustability. You really can't make a bad choice when it comes to Eagle it is just a matter of what you want to spend. :)
I don’t like to make assumptions or put words in your mouth...in past video’s I got the impression you were not a hige fan of Santa Cruz and in this video there seemed to be a few subtle suggestions towards Yeti and Transition bikes being better. What was your intention in this video?
I do often prefer Yeti or Transition to Santa Cruz because typically their geo is more progressive. But Santa Cruz makes solid bikes and vpp works well. Honestly they are all really good. When talking about these top of the line bikes all day it can be hard to find subtle differences as they all work very well and are a blast to ride :)
Without any bias on my end, what defines “progressive”? Are you talking “trendy”, “cutting edge”, “functional” or boundary breaking” or something else?
Love your guys takes on bikes. Especially defining the bike by the style of its maker. Would lovet o see more comparisons for long travel 29ers! The Evil vs Yeti was awesome!
Worldwide Cyclery I’m 6’3” with a 30” inseam I went with the L frame and love it. I’m in between L and XL. Seems that most L frames fit like a glove, XL seat tubes keep catching my shorts. Everyone is different and bike fit it super difficult. SC makes a great geo frame that makes the ride much more enjoyable. Cheers.
LOL, if only I was spending money on smokes and beer! It's these darn kids and family that cost so much!!! I can't see me ever being a good enough rider to need...appreciate...require a $5000+ bike. I think my forever sweet spot will be 2 to 3k. Cheers Outback Wack, enjoy your sweet ride!
buildingreno Yeah, kids and family should ALWAYS come first. We never had kids so the money goes to recreation. You will definitely feel and appreciate a $5000 bike... lighter and faster. Tech has come a long way in the last 10-15 years. I wound up with an Intense Primer for the money with X01, Fox Factory and carbon wheels for exactly $5k. Weighs 28.2 pounds. $3k will still get you a damn nice bike that you can upgrade when you get more money. Meanwhile, enjoy what you have as you find time and have fun! Get the kids involved too! Be safe!

Thanks for the feedback! We will definitely try and feature him more often :)
Gosh. I just love your videos. I watch them all the time. You’re the man dude.
Im 5 10 and the large fit me perfectly. Pretty amazing hike, anyone buying will not be disappointed
I'm 6'6" and 240lbs and smash trails on my XXL Hightower LT. Love it. Born and raised in Santa Cruz so it's kinda mandatory to ride SC ...or ibis
beanburnham01....Best bikes my friend 👍

beanburnham01 Awesome...thanks! Just saw the new 2019 HT colors...now I’m really wanting one.
beanburnham01 made those same cockpit changes on my Bronson V3. Love the short stem and slightly raised bar.
Great Video! Good to see you guys doing reviews on bikes you don't sell! Nice to see an open minded bike shop:)
Joseph Hajek III totally agree with you!
My next bike?! Damn, I can't wait
Better send me one for the final say. I'll let you know how it feels.
Kick ass! Great video. Love hearing about geo and comparisons. Nice work!
So Troydon is real huh? He's always on the Strava Leaderboards.
The man, the myth, the legend :)
200mm droper post!!??
I understand why they don't but damn I wish SC would make an AL version of this bike
Good stuff. Always learning something here. I'm 6'5". Rare thing getting direct geo vs 6'3"+ feedback from pro riders. Very good shtuff... as always.
Thank you for the kind words :)
CAn you guys do a video on the Santa Cruz Tallboy? :) Love the videos btw!
Adding it to the list :) Any others you want to see?
+1.. please!
+2 TB review vid would be awesome, partic if one of the less expensive builds
Yo i own this bike cc xo1 build.. still blowing me away since day 1!
Nice! What color did you go with?
Worldwide Cyclery same color grey.. tryna get some silver decals tho.
Such a sexy bike :)
Btw, love the Ratboy cameo!
Great interview and review. What is that killer trail he’s ripping?
Thanks! Rocky Peak in Simi Valley :)
Never thought I'd see a drop music artist talking bikes in youtube. What a time to be alive.

This is pretty much the perfect video I needed to see. You guys rock Thanks!
Should i get a Hightower LT or a Bronson
Can't go wrong with either one. They are just two different animals. It really comes down to wheel size, one being 27.5 and the other being a 29er.
Oh my next bike??? Really, can't wait to get it!! 😉
It’d be great to hear his thoughts on the sentinel too!
How much does aluminum 26" weigh?

That cutaway to Ratboy was hilarious!!!
Still cant get over the intro sound :)
I've had one for three weeks but can't get a proper ride in cause I broke myself the day before i got it! Ha!
Hope you heal up soon!
I'd like to know how the SB5.5 compared to the HT-LT?
Good comparison for sure! We would like to do a video on them both in the future, stay tuned!
Next giveaway? 😁
He sold it :(
ABOUT TIME SICK BIKE !!
And you’re freakin hilarious dude. 👍
i really want this bike... cant decide L or XL... i'm 6ft 184cm....
Large would probably be perfect for you :)

Great work guys!
Did Troydon ride it with the 36 and DPX2 before switching to the Monarch and Lyrik?
Reamonn Ryan Oh okay. In the article Troydon wrote, he only mentions using Rockshox front and rear. Good to know.
Yes he had a 36 and X2 in the rear before switching, you are correct sir :)
is it because of sponsorship?
Why is the front tyre wrong way around?
Otto Hemio haha I saw that too! so is his back
What’s the sticker on the seat tube ?
It's a Banksy collage :)
nice bike
Why is there no reviews on $1000 to $3500 dollar bikes. I get it...$5000+ is the mecca...but crap...what about us regular peeps?
buildingreno haha credit cards and skipping dinners is what worked for me lol
I was riding a 10 year-old Kona and saving money until I could afford a $5K bike. Skip the brew and smokes and you'll have a great bike in 3 months.
LOL, if only I was spending money on smokes and beer! It's these darn kids and family that cost so much!!! I can't see me ever being a good enough rider to need...appreciate...require a $5000+ bike. I think my forever sweet spot will be 2 to 3k. Cheers Outback Wack, enjoy your sweet ride!

buildingreno $2-3000 is a good sweet spot for a bike.. there are really good prices for that
He's ridden mtb for 6 years , but dis he and for how long did he ride motocross before that?
#overhyped most people cant even properly corner a 650B Bike lulz
