- Never seen clip of Richard Simmons talking about his executive producer during the days of his hit exercise show and how they treated each other and Richard. He didn't know the camera was rolling and watch him change his personality when he knows the camera is recording !
Richard off camera is EXACTLY how I pictured/expected.

My mom used to workout at Slimmons. I went with her a couple times and even when I was 20, it took a lot to even try to keep up with him. I know I slept like a baby after I got home. The room was women of all shapes, sizes, and ages, next to two men..fairly certain I was the only straight guy there since Richard was the other guy!! Haha and I couldn't get over how tiny he was but he was so friendly when I went up to shake his hand and thank him for the great workout afterward. He has the kindest eyes.

When I saw the short with Pauly Shore last week, he cursed and I wasn’t sure if this was very indicative of Richard’s persona but it’s clear Pauly is on to something. It’s even more convincing now. He really would be great in a feature film with better makeup. I know it’s not Richard’s wish but I truly feel it would be an inspiration performance and tribute to the realness of Simmons

Well everyone knows he's gay. It's just weird that he seems so straight forward about it here but as an older man he refuses to talk about it ever. His attitude is much more full on as an older man. It's like he's turned into his act.
@@KidsWithGuns1992 He never talked about it publicly when he was younger either. These clips were not part of the interview and never meant to be aired. And it is not really weird to not talk about your sex life. Talking about your sex life is more weird to be honest.

LOL he actually is known to have quite a foul mouth, there are outtakes posted online from his show from the early 1980s and in most of them, he swears and says the F word. I also heard that when people attended his classes, as far back as like, 2012, he would say bad words too, lol. Never pictured this guy ever saying that stuff.
Right...😱 For real. His voice is different and his posture. It's an act! He fooled everyone. We knew about probably being gay, and real people didn't care, celebs were brutal, but if he could've just showed a little more I'd real him it could've saved him a lot of problems and pain. Poor guy.

Its interesting that Richard says he's been out of the closet for a while because he never came out as gay publicly.
He never tried to hide it. He was always himself. It's not like today where some LGBTQ+ people feel the need to draw attention to their private lives so they can be celebrated for their sexual preferences.
He was busy doing what he did, bringing exercise and portion control to the masses - at a time when that was only for athletes, encouraging people who needed a light, and fighting uphill to keep p.e. in schools. His public persona is fun but at the heart he is one of the world's greatest problem solvers.

He was a regular on the Howard Stern Show for years and when Howard ever breached the subject like many times would ask Richard when he was going find a woman and settle down Richard would change the subject or make some joke "I am in love with my work".

I have often wondered if Richard Simmons actually practiced what he preached. In later years he appeared unhealthy. I think he was a secret binge eater who purged afterwards. His issues with acid reflux would explain that. Constantly eating and throwing up destroys your stomach lining and esophagus. He looked God awful just before he retired. Hope he is doing well.
I have a theory...he's not really gay. I think it's all part of his over-the-top persona.
