Don't know, I wish him the best and to stay safe, he's my favourite fitness personality.
Truly a national treasure. Always so uplifting and positive, and undoubtedly hilarious. He has inspired and helped so many people, and clearly he still is even though he has been out of the public eye. There will always be rumors and speculation, but I'm sure after being in the spotlight for so long, he needed a break. He is very missed, and the world does need more people like him around. I hope he is doing well and enjoying some well deserved quiet time.

You can’t spend that many years and that much of yourself and not burn out . I don’t think he was getting the love and energy he was giving out back .
This can be very serious mentally , physically and spiritually.
My thoughts are this, I think Richard Simmons will always be that funny looking gymnast with one of the most hilarious personalities to ever hit television. Look, the guy has earned his time off because of his positive things he did for people over himself which will never be duplicated by anyone.
Richard spent so much time and energy helping others, and deserves time to himself. I remember seeing him on TV all the time throughout my childhood. I hope he's doing well.

Same here, I have fond memories of seeing Richard on TV with his amazing energy and the wonderful motivation he gave to those who needed it. I miss seeing him but more so, I hope he is doing well and taking a much deserved break.
Exactly! I think he overcompensated for his own inferiority complex by helping everyone else, and he finally made time for his own personal healing.

My Daughter loved Richard Simmons. She drove from San Diego to LA a couple days a week to exercise with him. She went on his cruse to loose trips. I found her dead in her town house in Feb 2012. Because she was so involved with Richard that I emailed him and told him of her passing. He called me and cried. He was such a caring person. Kim would have been so happy. This ment so much to me and I pray for his happiness.

I put Richard Simmons right up there with the likes of Fred Rogers, Bob Ross and Levarr Burton. He built a life around sharing care and kindness, and helping others love themselves for who they are. I hope he's doing well and enjoying life to the fullest.

It's sadly obvious he has psychological issues. He's helped a lot of people. Maybe now he needs some help or just some peace and quiet. Either way, his privacy should be respected.
Went on a cruise with Richard Simmons! One of the sweetest people I had ever met…kind to everyone. I was so happy to see he was as nice in person as he was on television. Spent time talking to me about his mom who had just passed. He was broken-hearted. I will always love and respect this beautiful man! I will never listen to any negative talk about him. I saw the real Richard, and he deserves any privacy he wants,…he has earned every bit of love, and respect from us! He spent hours making sure all of us got to talk to him….never rude to anyone! Just ask anyone on the cruises with him…all loved him!
Sweet natured person who truly cares about others. People are truly jerks and he probably was just over it. Can't say I blame him. I hope he is well.

I have loved Richard since he appeared on General Hospital the afternoon soap opera in the late 70's. He has weathered both ridicule and shaming for mode of dress and flamboyant personality. He is an incredible support for those who struggle with all kinds of problems including weight issues, depression and other life problems. His exercise videos and walking tapes to dietary teaching programs were widely used and very helpful to those who struggle to stay motivated. He is an amazing man and wonderful humanitarian. I love you, Richard, you helped me through some very difficult times. Thank you and God bless you always. You have a right to just be.

Richard Simmons was my inspiration to lose over 160lbs over 30 years ago ..his videos got me moving and gave incouragement to a 330lb 24 year old unhappy girl...my life was change die to his kind hearted approach...8 will always be grateful
I love Richard. He seems like the biggest empath & has the biggest heart towards people. It’s sad that he hasn’t been returned with that love. I still love his sweating videos. He was one of the people who stood up and made people of all size in his videos. It was inspiring to see someone bigger doing the exercises. Hope he is well and happy, wherever he is! ❤️❤️❤️
You can only give so much. Maybe he's tired. Although he always seemed invincible, he's only human. He seems like a genuinely good person, and that can be exhausting. I wish him happiness and peace. ❤

Even though he doesn't look like your typical "fitness expert" (ripped, 6 pack, bulfing biceps) he's probably helped more people than ALL of the influences combined.
I'm a personal trainer and group fitness instructor and have so much respect for him and how he's helped so many people, yet so humble.
Not a mean bone in his body. Just loved people and wanted to help. I pray he is doing well and is happy.

Richard was definitely one of the very few 'gold heart' Hollywood celebrities. You can actually feel his aura of love and concern for people through the TV! I really miss his magic, and I hated the fact that he was misunderstood by certain cold, and evil people. Even some cruel talk show hosts would make him the butt-end of their jokes. A true, beautiful guy.
I miss his magic it was like he understood what life was like to be larger then most and how most of the world treats you when he was on tv or did videos you didn't see others that looked anorexic and never dealt with any weight problem in their life

In 1982 I used to watch Richard's show every day & exercise with him. I wrote a letter of gratitude to him. He wrote me back and sent me a picture of him. I was so surprised he wrote me back. I hung his photo on the mirror. He is a sweet guy !!!
My ex worked with Richard Simmons. Great guy but wears his heart on his sleeve in a BIG way. He's like an open wound: any dirt will infect him and hurt him terribly. He feels things deeper than most people. I think he finally had to retreat to protect himself.

After a lifetime of helping others, and publications go and falsely state that something is going on in his life that he showed affected him in someway personally, that wasn’t what Richard deserved. It was almost a slap in the face and sensationalistic. I would hide too. As long as he knows that he is still a treasure, no matter what anyone says. People love him because of his heart

I did his video for four months once when I was younger and it works so good. I was always worked out after. I loved it so much because I always had so much fun and I did it with my best friend. One of the best workouts ever. I highly recommend it still to this day twenty years later!!!
This wonderful man helped me as a young person in the 1980’S from being an actor on a soup Opera, to wonderful affirmations for a young person who doesn’t meet the weight requirement of said fashion industry of the time. I take a bow, Sir my you be a peace with self. Many live from your love.🙏🏽

My mom was a HUUUGE Richard Simmons fan! That's the only time in life, I remember her exercising. She had all his tapes & I particularly remember "Dancing with the Oldies" because I loved that video myself. His energy was contagious & he had people of all sizes & shapes just as it should be. There was never anyone like him, ever again. He is a true gem & we we're lucky to have him when we did. Live your life Richard! And thank you for all you did.🙏💛

I had a very nice experience serving Mr Simmons in first class between Miami sand Los Angeles. He was very kind and personable. Sure, he might seem odd to lots of people, but I can tell you from personal experience that he is one of the nicest celebrities I’ve ever served. I wish him nothing but the best.
I remember him from so many years ago and what I recall is just how nice he was to others, no matter "what they looked like" and that is something I will never forget, how Nice he was to others!

I remember my gym teacher in middle school had her classes doing his videos for class in the winter because it was to cold for us to be outside.
I say he has spent the majority of his inspirational life looking after others, let him finally do it for himself.
Love Richard. He always put positive energy into the world. I have felt that maybe he is battling illness of some sort but whatever the case he is loved and deserves love and kindness. I think his personal sadness was fulfilled by helping others just like it did with Princess Diana. I think you are extra sensitive to others feelings when you feel rejected in your own.

I feel like he gave so much of himself overtime that he just became introverted or mentally worn out. I went through something similar. I was always the outgoing social person all through middle n highschool then just went through some personal stuff n decided to retreat and be selective w my energy. I just wanted to be by myself. I still had the same heart but just more guarded.

There were times I didn't want to talk to anyone for days. Nothing was wrong, I just felt like I had to recharge. I totally get how he said he became depressed absorbing others energy. Simmons is an empath for sure.
I know he had knee surgery a few years ago. I don’t know if that is part of the reason for his retirement. I hope he is well & happy. He deserves that.

Always loved him...very encouraging and entertaining. Loved his TV show and oldies videos. He cared so much ...as an empath he was probably just sucked dry ... let him chill....he did more for this world than many... time to send him back some of that love

The problem with Richard Simmon's analogy about the court jester is that we actually ALWAYS need Richard Simmons. We may not need his support as much at times. But we always need it to some degree. Therefore, he could never go back into the box. Richard Simmons got me through some rough times. I will always be grateful.

He has been living his best life just being in a same sex relationship not wanting to damage his brand. Not that it would personally I think everyone had accepted that when it wasn’t that acceptable. Everyone loves him regardless and today that has no bearing!

Richard really touched my life not only with inspiration to happily, enjoying taking care of my body with exercise and eating healthy but his outrageous kindness.
I grew up with my VHS tape sweatin to the oldies and I used it daily for years it brought me happiness and the love of dance and health kept me 110-120 throughout my young years RESPECT to Mr Simmons I bought that tape at a yard sale as a kid with my grandmother and mom
After when I came across his birthday songs voice that did a amazing job. I thought about it of what happened to Richard Simmons. Last time I seen him was a huge fans gathered in front of his house and he was seen public eye and parts like he had women clothing on like heels and stuff. A lot of people had concerned that day and one fan praised him and that they were worried about him and that they cared and asking him if he was okay.
Some people don't know how to grow old gracefully. Especially, those from Hollywood.

He has retired. He wasn't held against his will. His brother was interviewed by People magazine a few years ago and there was an article about it.
Back in the 80s I followed his videos to lose weight, stay slim, healthy & happy. I still have the video today. Enjoy your life Richard. Blessings to you. 🙏❤️🇨🇦

I miss him, and I'd want him to know we don't need the high-energy, motivating persona. Just a laid-back person saying hello. I think he should do what he wants when he wants. I think he should have boundaries too, he shouldn't be concerned with losing fans or friends by sternly putting his foot down by not wanting to be teased or the punchline of the host's jokes. I miss his ideas that to some sound funny but reality says they are better than the way we do things. I miss his perfect innocence. I still think he has a lot to say that should be heard. Like things in the past that were fun for him and what and who went too far. To help the struggle with simple political correctness, It screams for a narrative.
Exactly that what I thought that he had given so much time of himself for others and uplifting others and wanted to take some time for himself after giving so much and being in the Limelight exactly you deserve to have peace quiet and enjoy your life but isn't it great how people are so concerned about Richard Simmons and that's really nice that people care so much.
