Richard Simmons is one of the coolest people on earth. EVERY SINGLE TIME he came to the studio, Howard would abuse the shit out of him and more often than not, Richard left in tears.... and kept coming back.. and had a genuine friendship outside of the show with Howard. It's so sad what happened to Richard... but at least he didn't turn into "Imus without the cocaine" like Howard did.

Richard was a real character....Great guest. Along with Tiny Tim, and Mark Harris.....Tiny Tim was especially interesting talking about the "ins, and outs" of all the various products he used.

I really can't tell how much of this is Richard being a character, he keeps coming back for more abuse knowing exactly what to expect and then yelling about it. Same about him and David Letterman, who always treated him terribly. David is also playing a character a bit, like how he asked Penn &Teller to do something insane without telling him what it was. They found out he absolutely hated bugs, so Teller unloaded dozens of roaches and other insects across his desk. David was super pissed on camera, but afterwards, he highly praised them. You never know when these people are being genuine.
Howard's daughter Debra is soo cute. She sounded like daddy's little girl telling him I love u daddy. It's messed up that he felt he didn't/shouldn't or any man spend time with their kids. That his only responsibility was just to provide for his family but not spending time with them, like how he criticized Gary for spending all his free time with his son's.
It is pretty cute how much Richard loves Howard's kids...there's another clip out there where Richard bought Howard's girls a shitload of Barbie dolls for Christmas.
Gary was criticized for letting his wife take terrible advantage of him. At that time, he was the primary breadwinner, but had to get up early on weekends. He should have grown a pair and told his wife, weekends are my time.
