I aint a fan of fender Flares but good video bud i like the 7 3 my Dad had 1 in his work truck but it was quite tired and didst want to start right up but it did
Question… I finally got everything situated and tested and it passed the power balance and everything else looks completely normal fuel pressure and all but there is a lot of aeration coming out of the fuel supply line in the fuel bowl and its got a new fuel pump already. The aeration is causing a bad miss my question is since I know everything else checks out should I just run all new fuel lines and a sump to fix the issue because to my understanding air can only get in the fuel system from the pickup tube to the HFCM? Thanks for the help and always responding🤝
You can pull air in through connections in the line or if your lower fuel filter isn’t tight or oring not sealing good or even a crack in the cap. Just cause it doesn’t leak diesel doesn’t mean it can’t suck air.
Something tells me this is a bad idea for anyone without a complete shop and knowledge of the diesel engines. But good demonstration. And it’s not cheating because you tried without it before you boosted the batteries. And what causes all that surging? I get a tiny bit of that here in Hawaii at 60 degrees oil and coolant temps. I finally realized that if you have a leaky sticky injector and you wait for the FICM to come up to full power the engine will run rough because of uneven fuel in the different cylinders. Otherwise Hot Shot sticktion treatment has stopped my rough idle when cold. And what is with the smoke from the OBS, one reason I bought my ‘06 it NEVER has the slightest bit of smoke of any color EVER. Stock all around except for an EGR cooler removed. Teaser, I put the EGR back in, I finally found a couple references to the fact that having the EGR in is fine with the cooler removed. I can get the check engine insignia to go out for one cycle with the EGR installed and plugged in, but it comes back on the next time you start it. Been running it a year that way with no problems. One guy said he did it for 200, 000 miles with no adverse effects.

So this was just your latest videos and easiest way to ask you about issues that my sons truck just started having. 04 6.0 with nothing other than edge monitor and 4" turbo back so far. Been doing well starting here in Minnesota here for the last few weeks.....-20 one night....as long as its plugged in its been fine so thats not our issue now. Statrs fine but its randomly started running rough and blowing black smoke all the time and exhaust smells fuel soaked at idle. Feels like is got a misfire now too. Im going to start with the normal stuff. Change fuel filters....motorcraft of course....thinking bad fuel but if thats it injectors are probably ruined. Fuel up here is treated at the pump to -10 but think he added 911 instead of diesel kleen so not sure that could've done anything. I'll be pulling EBP sensor and checking the tube next and connections along with the EGR value. Checking mass connections and injection harnesses for anything loose or fared. Never had an injector just fail but my 7.3 was just terrible cold starting so it got new full force one and glow plugs. New to 6.0 problems but truck has been flawless since September when we bought it. Got a blue spring kit sitting on the shelf too but was waiting till next filter change. Hopefully that decision to wait isn't coming back to haunt me. FICM volts are 48v or above....vgt still working normally.....boost is good....its always had some lag....eot and ect always 10° or so apart. Literally everything was good before and still is on the gauges. Doesn't do FICM sync or fuel pressure so those are a factor. Sorry about the long book but your one of best powerstroke guys out there. Any pointers is much appreciated
Most people that complain about the 7.3 are the people that do very little if any maintenance on their truck. We'll see how many of these new diesel motors with a DEF system are even in existence in 20 years and how they start 🤣 Ford put the block heater on them for a reason, PLUG IT IN !!!
Gotta grab the hi torq starter it spins the motor way faster then them oem starters! My starter is called godzilla starter! I got some cold start videos as well with my 6.0 ( some ppl even say you can swap the new starters into the older trucks. The red one sounded like it had a fast starter!
Does that exersion have a tune on it i put one on my f250 it starts hard kicking and bucking in 30 degree weather strange thing is if i put the factory tune back on it it has no problems only acts a fool in cold weather
on the 1st OBS truck, he did not wait long enough, I wait 90 seconds after the WTS goes out, and my '02 7.3L starts at 10* and idles smooth, no smoke.... BUT, I keep the block heater plugged in, the IOT was showing 65* on the Edge CTS-3 monitor..... in Utah today, at 8* and block heater again, it started at 90 seconds after WTS light, like a warm summer day.... new batteries, new cable terminals.
They are also getting battery cables that need replaced. Most are getting corrosion in the positive cable at the starter. Best thing to do is put 6.7 starters in your 7.3
That’s why I replace and use military terminals. I use the f450 and f550 heavier 3 bolt starter and have no issues with ours except for my batteries needing replacing
The hydraulic spools of the injectors sticking open then closed because its cold. Letting the glow plugs cycle Much much much much much much MUCH longer than he did for every truck in this video will help big time on starting. For trucks that actually cycle the injectors to warm them up this also applies and will remove the lope when you start it.
Funny here in Hawaii at minimum 60 degree engine temps, if I wait a little longer to bring the FICM voltage up my truck idles rough for a few minutes. If I only wait for the 6 chimes to stop it runs much smoother. I think injectors can stick open and flood some cylinders and make them miss. Any thoughts?
Good video. I'm a new 6.0 owner and mine starts great but smokes quite a bit below 30 degrees for several minutes. Is this causing any harm to the engine to run this way until it warms up? Thanks

No, as long as it’s not an injector sticking open when cold which would cause cylinder wall wear due to excess fuel washing the cylinder walls.
