    Good video. However, I have one complaint. When describing the fuel lines and where they go, do one line at a time instead of getting ahead of yourself and mixing them up. I wasn't able to easily determine which fuel line (small diameter or large) ran where and why. Good video, but could have been broken down in steps more simply. Apologies for the whining...it was still VERY helpful. I've only ever used a chainsaw a few times before, nevermind replacing a complete fuel delivery system. BTW, my efforts (and yours) resulted in success. Thanx again.

    You will.eventually learn that "slight" difference in choke linkage on the aftermarket carbs is a critical issue that can and has caused saws to fail to accelerate. The metal rod and lever used on the after market carbs can skip and prevent the upper butterfly to open. The upper port is the engine acceleration, high speed port and without it the saw cannot be used. The plastic lever used on the OEM carb functions like a trigger, locking carb linkage in position until the trigger is depressed, at which time the locked linkage is released.

    • @smallengineguys
      @smallengineguys  Рік тому

      pretty sure i showed how to correct this in the video by cutting a small piece off of the metal rod

    I ordered the carb for my pp4218A. Installed and pulled the choke out it fired the first pull. Pushed the choke in halfway pulled it again it started but didn't idol. Turned the screw out about 3/4 of a turn started and ran perfect. The carb on it was supposed to be new but wouldn't run right. Now the problem I have is when you put the top cover on the throttle cable get hung on the choke and you can't pull the choke all the way out to where it locks in place. Guess I'll have to figure that out next.

    Don't you want to make carb adjustments WITH the air filter in place? It restricts airflow (slightly) and will affect the fuel/air mixture. You had to richen up the mixture likely because you were getting too much air in the carb (compared to having the air filter in place).

    • @smallengineguys
      @smallengineguys  3 місяці тому +1

      it sucks fuel threw the carb. you have to have a direct line from tank straight to carb. if you put the primer in-between you'll get air bubbles and the saw will stall a lot

      @@smallengineguys Well how about that. All these years I been jamming by thumb in the fuel bulb thinking I was vaporizing the fuel in the carb, only to find out I was just firing it into the return 🤣.

The fuel line holes on my saw are right next to the engine instead of behind the primer bulb like the saw in your video and the holes are also much smaller.
