You 100% don’t need to worry about the lyrics with Oasis, just enjoy the music
That comment describes a lot of 90s music.
Unless it’s the master plan. Lol but generally just take the little bits you can and sing along nonsensically
Honestly the best description of Oasis. Honorable mention to Acquiesce. Hilariously ironic.
They are British, so less attention to the lyrics and more attention to the music.
Seriously, it's a beautiful song, but the lyrics are beyond retarded.
Brad telling Lex she takes the lyrics too literally is probably the most ironic moment on UA-cam.
Facts.
Lolol. Wow.
The most truth I’ve seen in a while 😂
Brad is just lost and confused lol
Thought exactly the same. Seriously dude? So funny!!
I'm just amused at the reaction the Gallagher brothers would have to being called either country or grunge.
"We're a rock band, innit."
I did hear the singer has 'swag' so they quickly clued in to Oasis.
@Kate ofc they'd be City fans the twats lmfao
They are from Birmingham, so that does make them the hillbilly's of the UK.
@@davisclerk6731 The Gallagher brothers were both born in Manchester and the band was formed in Manchester. Idk where you got Birmingham from.
For real. Was hoping they could recognize the obvious Beatles influence.
Oasis in that 94-96 period were ridiculously good. Amongst the best groups in history in that period even better than their elevated opinions!
I think they just did too much in that crazy period. Writing songs like Acquiese and Masterplan as afterthought b sides, yet even these are better than most bands write in a lifetime.
Sadly the excesses caught up with them and their constant bickering split them.
If the brothers could have kept from beating each other up all the time. God only knows what other great songs they could have put out.
Slightly disagree. When most of the country bought the album the week it came out, how do they sell singles off that album?
The answer of course is with epic B-Sides, good enough to have been on the album... So I don’t think The Masterplan was an after thought. Noel Gallagher thinks it’s one of his best ever and I’m sure he knew that when he put it onto the B-Side
Please give me a break one of the most over-rated bands ever
they had the looks of the beatles in some videos
@@dantastic6262 good points. I think some of the band members begged Noel to include Masterplan on the next album but he reckoned that wouldn't be done for a few years so they released it as a b side.
Oasis - Don't Look Back In Anger
From a songwriting point of view( and also sonically obviously), one of the best tracks ever recorded.
That song can really get you through anything in life.
The live in 2009 in Rio Platte version is epic.
Agreed. Fantastic song
Great song but no where close to greatest ever. I mean the song is 3 to 4 chords
@@wesleywhitaker1502 some of the best songs are only 3 or 4 chords.
@@davidtingley9978 I actually shed a tear when he looks up to the sky at the end , my Mom has recently passed away and it was the first time I noticed him do it and it just moved me.
In the twist of the century, Brad tells Lex not to look too deeply at the lyrics.
He's learning.
😂😂😂😂😂
Oasis is the band most associated with Britpop. The quintessential Britpop song however, is by the band "Pulp" called "Common People". You should give that song a listen.
Edit your message to let them know to listen to the long version, not the video short version.
Studio version only. No video. And yes yes yes!!!! I've been trying for a while.
I love love love your suggestion!
I'd recommend the Shatner version.
@@jpjones21 Haha. It is great comedy. I do respect Joe Jackson.
I love Nick Cave. He's one of my Top 5 artists. And I love Common People so much that I think even Nick should not have touched it and done a cover.
"Some Might Say" is another good song from Oasis, One of my personal favorites from them.
Noel Gallagher when interviewed by Lars Urich on Apple Music said the lyrics don’t really matter - they are another melody to hook you in lol
This; was when Grunge, became Alternative. The Country confusion comes from the high strings, if you listen to both, the language is completely different, even though the roots are the same.
I think the Country thing is them thinking the melodica (a little keyboard thing that you play like a recorder, see: Augustus Pablo) was a harmonica, which is actually quite an easy mistake to make
Grunge was a label applied to alternative music
The window for Grunge as Grunge, was very short. By the time Bush n Oasis Came on the scene, the genre had "Acquired" the new label of "Alternative". It came from the media and labels, not from us.
Most new country is also just a shitty knock off of 90s alternative
@@mparsons85 Con-Fukking-Firmed, Sir!!
You need more Oasis in your lives! They were huge when I was a lad. They played to 250k people in Knebworth in, I think 1996. Could be wrong on the date. But even so. They represented 1990's UK music, like gods to most!
I agree with u they’re Gods 🙏💙🤟🎶
I"m 41. Oasis was a really important band in my youth, they came out in 1993 with Definitely Maybe and in 1995 this album "(What's the story?) Morning Glory" came out. It made me pick up a guitar and want to become a musician. You can go down a rabbit hole with Oasis, "Some Might Say" "Live Forever" "Talk Tonight" so many good songs on the albums not to mention the huge catalog of B-sides. Follow me for more useless trivia on Oasis!
I’m 42 and Oasis had a huge impact on me too! I still absolutely love their music. They were lyrical and musical geniuses.
Oasis are from Manchester, England and the lead singer and main songwriter are brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher. And they are VERY Manchester lol which will mean nothing to you but they have that’s the kind of swag they have lol
Z
oh definitely I still prefer don't look back in anger
They’re from Manchester England and we’re easily the biggest U.K. band in the 90’s and the biggest selling British band since the Beatles. In other words legends 👍
You guys gotta do more alternative, punk and post punk. Some of the best music out there. Oasis were considered Brit Pop …a label given by the media in the early mid 90s which describes rock bands from Britain that had a melodic harmonious tinge to them reminiscent of the 60s e.g. The Beatles, The Who. Kinks
there is a time line of good taste, take a look to Charly Garcia's music, pretty good
Slide away, the importance of being idle and don’t look back in anger are all unreal songs ❤️ so happy to see you reacting to oasis
@Rob Wood it’s not terrible 😂 I was just adding it in as I hadn’t seen that particular song covered in other comments and I like it. Maybe I’m the only one haha
@Rob Wood what’s your top 3? I’m just curious
@Rob Wood it’s a song I associate with a good time in my life i know it’s not everyone favourite
@Rob Wood I love morning glory and Columbia! Slide away is probably my favourite. Got tickets for LG at knebworth and can’t wait ❤️ I was only born in 92 so was too young to see oasis this is as close as I’ll get
@@TDWPown Nah, mate; got yer back, man. I love that tune: great melody; a message I can relate to; a deadly swingin rhythm that would say ‘I don’t give a fuck’ even if the lyrics didn’t. There is more but I can’t reconcile the position of the keys in need visual space worse their position in actual space.
Great band when the Gallagher bros weren't beating the crap out of each other. 😆
😂. Didn’t they stop talking to each other at one point and one of them made a solo album or started another band?
Yeah 😂 but that's what we brothers do 🤣
Even there solo work now is really good
One of their fights led to "Talk Tonight" being written, so there's that.
Lol
You're a good man, Brad. Never change.
This is how I read the lyrics…
It’s about someone who’s going through a lot, yet is somehow able to live on while everyone around them are dying off 🤷♂️
I am an Oasis fan since i was 11 years old. I'm now 41. I love seeing people react to my favourite band of all time.
Legendary ❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
Hearing them compared to country and grunge made me spit out my drink. But are Brad and Lex not encountered the more indie/alternative bands. And I'm pretty sure not Britpop bands like Oasis, Blur, Pulp, Supergrass, and other
UK band of the time like Suede and Manic Street Preachers.
As a 29 year old who somehow had never heard oasis outside of Wonderwall before this video (idek how, never had a need i guess?) i I can see what they mean by Country and Grunge actually. Might be because i read your comment before they said so, so I was actively looking to see how, but I can hear it. I would definitely not considered it either of those though, but it definitely has some hints of em. Its not a bad thing by any means either
@@runthemeows1197 You should try the Britpop bandwagon, that and Madchester.
It's silly frustrating that all the reaction videos tend to only do one song by an artist like Smells Like Teen Spirit, Creep, Wonderwall etc. Great when you see them give things a go like this.
@@benabel7326 ive actually got stoned, and had spotify on Oasis and shuffle since my last comment and im liking it way more than i thought i would. Love discovering new music so its been a good night!
@@runthemeows1197 Sounds great, not my favourite Britpop band, but their first two albums and really great
To me they sound like the f… beatles ♥️
Oasis actually have a really good documentary on Netflix...
I highly recommend it and you'll understand the band a bit more from this era of British music
What's the title of the documentary?
@@kylenavyguy Supersonic I think
@@kylenavyguy Oasis: Supersonic
@@Mrmhibbert Oh, thank you so much!
Supersonic is on Netflix? I payed for it.
When Brad said this was country I literally spit my coffee out. Lol.
Pretty sure the brothers would want to fight if they heard you call them country, grunge or crunge.
Due to their Irish ancestry they were brought up listening to Irish country music from band's like big tom and the mainliners
Yup ... That accent you hear is certainly a real accent and not just a artistic twist they put on the lyrics ... They hail from Manchester England and were one of the biggest bands on the planet during the grunge era ... They were categorized as " Britpop " but I always thought of them as a Grunge band
You know nothing ha grunge you getting yer bands mixed up mate oasis no where near grunge😂
Oasis are from Manchester, England and by their own admission were high for a lot of their early career. Brilliant band though, especially live, with loads of top tracks to their name. If you go down the Oasis rabbit hole your subscribers will grow enormously.
lol...don't exaggerate. They have a couple good songs at best. This is their best one by far.
In your opinion
This song was specifically written to have no meaning whatsoever. Noel said he just wanted a psychedelic song
That's often the case - WHITER SHADE OF PALE meant nothing (according to the writers) yet people often try to say it's about the Titanic or whatever. What's that one about THE CATS IN THE CRADLE... ? (line from I JUST DIED IN YOUR ARMS ... ) I think people like to interpret that mysterious bunch of words but probably means about as much as a Harold Pinter play.
@@stephenbrough8132 I agree there are alot of writers such as Noel, Tom petty, Billy corgan etc. who Write really amazing songs but are really up to interpretation because they don't have a specific meaning when going in to writing it.
@@praisethefirstborn6226 Marezy dotes and dozy dotes and liddle amsy divy - Sammy Cahn started a trend lol! Samy Cahn probably before your time.
@glenprose The cannonball line is intriguing, but not enough to make me wanna listen again - his PUT ON voice and claim to be the biggest band in the world - and comparing themselves to The Beatles, have always irritated me because they're pretty average really, at best. There must be several thousand bands better than them in the UK alone. - I don;t care how local they are (to me) - they've been blown up out of all proportion, helped by "the ginger whinger" on TFIF promoting them every week as i recall - "ASH" A WERE A GREAT BAND - The BAY CITY freekin' ROLLERS were better than Oasis lol, and boy, did I hate them.) ... SHANGALANG!
@glenprose SHANGALANG! Thank God it's not just me - all my friends drank the Koolaid. My ex wife even adopted the HAIRCUT!
Finally. Been waiting for this. Do Wonderwall (their biggest mainstream single that most people know) but most importantly do Slide Away. In my opinion their best song ever
These guys were rock gods in their time in the UK...
Still are mate.
@@renedecandia yes! X 🙌🙌🎶🎶🤟🤟
Greatest band EVER!!! Yall have to react to best liam gallagher moments or something like that. Dude is hilarious. Truly one of a kind.
Great watching this , im from the UK Oasis are the band that essentially made the 90's great for me , this has to be in amongst my favourites the tune and melody are fantastic imo.
I've heard many interviews with Noel Gallagher the writer of the song , and he doesn't know what the lyrics mean either , sometimes he has to get lyrics down after he has actually put the song together , so most of the time the lyrics are just stuff he has heard someone say then rhymes it until it all fits, most of their biggest selling album is essentially unfinished songs with one verse and repeat choruses because the recording of it was super quick.
He has said that if he had sat down and tried to think of profound lyrics , or if he had tried to perfect the songs knowing how big the album was , he would probably be still writing it.
Maybe they were high discussing some of the things he mentions and that's how they became lyrics , he just doesn't know 😀
Great video though , nice to see people over in America take time to hear my favourite band 👍
If you wanna do a live reaction do their song ‘Supersonic’ live at Earls Court 1995. Some of their many classics are ‘don’t look back in anger’ ‘wonderwall’ ‘the masterplan’ ‘live forever’ ‘cast no shadow’ ‘cigarettes and alcohol’ ‘morning glory’ to name but a few! Morning glory was actually playing in the arena when Fury beat Wilder the other night in Vegas, which was surprising to me lol
These guys were very near the second coming of the Beatles in the UK, during the 90's. They were most certainly the second coming of the Beatles in the minds of the Gallagher Brothers lol. Love this song; always was my favorite by them. Cheers!
This is a powerful song. I had it played at my Moms funeral as a last song before people saw her go. (her choice, she adored Oasis) Wasn't a dry eye in the place. It's the music that takes over ... the sound. Not saying this to be sad ... it's a celebration of a great song.
Definitely one of the biggest bands on the planet for many. React to more of them!
OASIS have so many good songs. DON'T LOOK BACK IN ANGER, WONDERWALL and STOP CRYING YOUR HEART OUT. These songs you have to react to sometimes. Have a blessed day you two ❤🔥
It’s great that you’re checking out this amazing band. Try listening to Don’t go Away and Live Forever from them.
I absolutely love Don’t Go Away. A seriously underrated song of theirs.
Stand by me, Morning Glory, Dyou know what I mean, Slide Away.....
@@sheepdog4404 love Slide Away and Rocking Chair
Oasis, enough said. Greatest band ever.😊
Easily my favorite Oasis song, by far.
Perfect from beginning to end.
I’ve listened to this song hundreds if not thousands of times and it still gives me goosebumps
Don’t look back in anger, and don’t go away are two other must listens from oasis.
One of my favorite English bands. Depeche Mode is another great English band.
You should defo do a few more of their songs. Their back catalouge is quite immense, with a lot of their unheard B Sides being some of their best songs. For example, The Masterplan, Talk Tonight, Half the World Away.
They put all those B side onto one album, The Masterplan, and it's a great album! Up there with their best.
If Liam and Noel were as sweet together like Brad and Lex, we would have had some amazing music today.
The Smith's Johnny Marr was a huge influence on this band... Great band...
One of the greatest bands ever and probably one of the last big rock bands, who lived the rock'n roll life. From small criminals to one of the biggest bands
I suggest the Oasis song: Don't Look Back In Anger - lotsa Beatles references
Awesome song. Wore this song out back in the day. Oasis were from Manchester, England.
This song provided us with a window into Brads life and I would like to thank him for it. So thanx Brad.
One of my favourite songs ever. Lucky enough to see Oasis in Manchester, Uk 11 Years ago right before the band broke up they were awesome!
The greatest band of my life easily 🤟🎵😎🙌
I remember seeing interviews with them on MTV and their accents were so heavy they put up subtitles. Great band very much missed.
To me this song is the morning after getting off ya trolley with your mates , waking up scattered on a Sunday and the only cure for your pounding headache is another beer, this song is that beer. So many memories oasis brings back
Whilst you're on a spurt of British music, Paul Weller's "You do Something to me". Absolute classic.
One of my favourite british band.
Check out "Dont look back in anger"
"Live forever"
"Supersonic"
Champagne Supernova the best song of Oasis and the world for me 😊
i love it❤❤❤
Saw them in 96 on this tour. They were amazing. This is my intro to adulthood music period.
Oasis were an English rock band formed in Manchester in 1991. Originally known as the Rain, the group which evolved into Oasis, the band consisted of Liam Gallagher (lead vocals, tambourine), Paul Arthurs (guitar), Paul McGuigan (bass guitar), and Tony McCarroll (drums). Upon returning to Manchester, Liam's older brother Noel (lead guitar, vocals) joined as a fifth member, finalising the band's core line-up. During the course of their existence, they had various line-up changes, though the Gallagher brothers remained as the staple members.
More oasis please!! Been waiting for this one 🤣
YESSSS...Oasis! This album reminds me of long convoys over in Bosnia and Herzegovina!
Def one of the top songs if not THE top song of the 90’s decade.
This was called Britpop. Was out at the same time as grunge pretty much. Similar music styles, but the music generally was much less depressing in terms of lyrics and melody, of course with some caveats. There’s an interview with one of the singers of Oasis, and it’s something along the lines of, “I heard that Nirvana song ‘I hate myself and I want to die’ and I thought wtf man”, and he wrote something totally more uplifting after hearing it. Other bands include Blur, and The Verve but there’s loads more.
If you’re a grunge fan, you’ll like this, and it’s super easy to listen to when you want something like grunge but not as melancholy.
Edit: the song he wrote after hearing that Nirvana song was called “Live Forever”.
Very Poignant.
My interpretation has always been that somewhere along the way, people that showed some kind of special, unique qualities or instincts somehow get caught in the same humdrum routines as everyone else, losing their shine
Interesting to hear another take ...for me, it was about the death of a friend in high school...and eventually all of our deaths. "Where were you while we were getting high" The friend died, elsewhere, while a group of friends were partying together. "Slowly walking down a hall, faster than a cannonball" All of our mortality as we walk down life, one step in front of certain death, unaware."Someday you will find me, caught beneath the landslide, in a champagne Super Nova, in the sky" Death, body buried, and soul blazing the heavens, like a shooting star.
The guitar solo at the end is genius, the length of it is perfect after such simple metaphors are displayed ie slowly walking down the hall, faster than a cannonball
Takes me right back to 96 happy days ❤️
My first taste of Oasis was their song Wonderwall.... great tune.
I'm glad you're finally doing them
You guys love discovering different points of view, so here's a song that has an interesting point of view that was all over the radio back in the day:
Superman by Five For Fighting
The accent is Manchester England. The place where Oasis, The Stone Roses, The Verve, The Smiths, The Inspiral Carpets, The Happy Mondays, New Order, The Charlatans are all from.
One of my favorite songs 💖
This song takes me back to college. A couple of my sorority sisters and I would engage in a philosophical (or we thought) discussion trying to come to a logical conclusion as to what a champagne supernova was. And these conversations usually happened around 2 or 3AM. Yeah, we still don't know! Lol
You needed better drugs…! 👀😎
@@SuperJinxter We tried man! We tried! We were broke college students surviving on caffeine, beer and ramen noodles! Lol
Crazy. I'm a fan of both PJ and Oasis. Never thought about any connection. But damn. Lex might be a rock and roll genius. Rain woman.
One of my all time fav band. This song sounds like The Beatles a bit.
Literally one of my first 4 CD's from that Columbia house Music mail ads back in the 90's. Very Mellow album.
Another song I think y'all would vibe to is "Standing Outside a Broken Phone Booth with Money in my hand" by the Primitive Radio Gods. It's similar in melancholic atmosphere to this song.
Spent countless summer nights in 1996 listening to this song whilst going to sleep as a 10/11 year old. My older brother always used to have What's the Story Morning Glory on late at night in our bedroom. Love it all these years later.
I'm not a huge fan of Oasis, I can take it or leave it honestly, but I count their "Don't Look Back In Anger" among the greatest songs ever written.
How much of their catalogue have you listened to? Have you listened to all their 7 studio albums plus the Masterplan album comprising b sides.?
They've got plenty of songs of that caliber or greater!
@@relevantbrother8964
Yes ... and I concur with @dogbite. Middle of the road mediocrity with a sprinkling of decent tunes.
Masterplan is their best song for me, I can't agree with Don't Look Back in Anger being up there as it's a nonsense song with atrocious lyrics ... as Noel admits.
Different strokes for different folks dude.
@@relevantbrother8964 A buddy of mine used to listen to them obsessively, so I've heard (I think) the first four albums, thoroughly. I don't deny that they're a talented group, just not quite my cup of tea is all. A bit off topic, but I hold a similar opinion regarding The Cure. Incredibly talented musicians, just not what my ear prefers.
@@DaP84 They have a few other songs that I enjoy, but I think Don't Look Back In Anger is just something special.
"Masterplan" is noel gallagher's masterpiece!.....seen oasis back on 1996 at Knebworth...was massive and them lads can play live !!!!
They were possibly the biggest band in the world for a few years in the mid 90s. Wonderwall put them on the map.
The memories of walking around town on a night with our entire rugby team singing this in the street hahaha happy times
Their best song without a doubt!!
They are from Manchester, England and when you hear them talk, it’s very apparent. Thick accents. Just FYI, a champagne supernova is a euphoric state reached through drug use, usually cocaine.
good old Mancunian accent
These guys are a vibe definitely. You will like this band brad. They are also very musical Lex. Great song to kick the list off. I suggest next you do their songs with less radio play. They are the gems like Let there be love, All around the world and Out of Time. Enjoy the journey 🤗🎧🎶🎶🎶
Best rock band of all time behind the Beatles, react to them more pls
Don't look back in anger live at the river plate Argentina with Noel on vocals , normally Liam did the vocals he was also a great singer
Respect to the person who requested this song, i already forgot how i loved Oasis and this song is definitely one of their best songs!
When my now 13-year-old grandson was 3 he used to sing this word and note perfect. He heard Oasis constantly as his Dad is a massive fan - and has now joined his Dad.
Noel Gallagher on the lyrics of this song:
"I was on my last tour and I was playing Champagne Supernova, he recalled. "That song is so long, and I often find myself drifting off enjoying the song and thinking, ‘What f***ng does it mean?’
“You know, ‘Walking down the hall faster than a cannonball' - What the f*** is all that about? And I should know, ’cause I wrote it, and I haven’t got a clue."
WONDERWAL is a must listen. If these guys wouldn't of been d so destructive to themselves they would of controlled music for generations!!! Unbelievably talented. The brothers faught nonstop
one of best songs of all time.....they smashed the 90s...Legends
Noel is an underrated guitarist. His feel and timing are insane. I love solos that you can sing along to.
Noel Gallagher wrote quite a few verbal mashups and let everyone else decide what they meant. But the verbal images did have their inspirations.
He was watching a documentary on Champagne, and somewhere in the same timeframe misheard the title of a Pixies album, Bossanova, as Supernova, and the combination just sounded cool.
Some other stuff -
"But some of the words are about nothing. One is about Bracket the Butler, who used to be on Camberwick Green or Trumpton or something. He used to take about 20 minutes to go down the hall. And then I couldn't think of anything that rhymed with "hall" apart from "cannonball" so I wrote, "Slowly walking down the hall, faster than a cannonball." And people were like, "Wow, man." There's also the line, "Where were you while we were getting high?" because that's what we always say to each other."
But it meant something to each fan. And the band was very popular because the music had a groove to it, and because they made the effort to really connect with their fans in a friendly way in an era when too many "stars" seemed to barely tolerate them. If they had a bit of time after a concert for example, they were known to sometimes walk over and sit on the edge of the stage and chat with the people awhile. And if there were few, they might also invite them backstage for a beer.
They were as loyal to their fans as they might hope the fans would be to them.
British Indie Rock was the birthplace for alot of influenced music for you guys in the US.
It's SAD to see Brad doesn't love OASIS... Lex is the best
so many amazing songs , they are fantastic live
oh dear. i knew at some point they would react to Oasis, amazing songs. lyrics literally mean fuck all mostly. Noel wrote em and always says he has no idea. country? oh dear.
Biggest rock band in the 90's🌟
Oasis is one the best bands, or arguably the best band from 1990''s, they are from the UK, their accent is from the north of England, they were absolutely massive worldwide back then. Their song writing and style was often influenced by the 'Beatles'. They are well loved and remain to this day greatly missed over here. lf you had gone with the video things would have clearer............😃 nice reaction, thank you
there accent is Mancunian, same as me born in Manchester :)
I always took the lyrics "where were you while we were getting high?" as moving up in life . Like the other guy stayed in his early 20s while others moved on
I think the “country” vibe you’re getting is just the blues influence on rock n roll
Oh dear God, how I miss my twenties, backpacking around Australia, getting high - tanned up- long hair - beautiful women and not a care in the world with this as as(oasis) the soundtrack.😭😭😭😭
Accent from Manchester England. Oasis and Blur were a new generation of British bands, along with Morrissey and The Smiths and others, that stopped trying to sing with American accents. Oasis was all about the vibe, some of their lyrics were ridiculous, but the words "sound" perfect with the music.
