Noel Gallagher (Writer and guitar player) summed it up best with "That song is so long, and I often find myself drifting off enjoying the song and thinking, ‘What f***ng does it mean?’ “You know, ‘Walking down the hall faster than a cannonball' - What the f*** is all that about? And I should know, ’cause I wrote it, and I haven’t got a clue."

@@nikkireviews May I suggest the live version of Supersonic on MTV 1994 Liams vocals are biblical as is the sound of the band. A proper ‘wall of sound’
RE lyrics, this particular song just like Don't look back in anger are written so well that you can literally put your own interpretation to the lyrics. Champagne Supernova makes me think of my teenage years just enjoying nights out with my pals

There is a real good cover of this by The Pretty Reckless! When I watched Taylor from TPR do this song I just chilled and enjoyed her version of the song, never really tried to interpret the lyrics much.
Regarding the meaning of the lyrics, Jon Anderson of Yes has said in the past that if you really listen to the words there are many times when they just don’t seem to make any sense, but they SOUND good and the phrasing brings an emotional depth that connects with listeners, who bring their own meaning. So Noel isn’t far off.
Welcome to the world of Oasis and you've come around at the right time. They are the Gallagher Brothers and "Champagne Supernova" is the song that put them on the map and paved their way to one of the greatest bands of all time. They weren't publicized in the states very much and a lot of people never heard of them. Next year, will be the second coming of Oasis in July and they will be doing a World Tour at the end of next year and I'll be ready. Another favorite is the song "Be Here Now".
I wouldn't say champagne super nova is the song that put them on the map. Live forever was the song that made people really sit up and take notice of them
This song got me hooked on "Oasis" in the nineties and I wasn't even getting high!😮 "Sunday Morning Call" is also a great Oasis song nobody ever talks about, however it's sung by the writer Noel Gallagher instead of the Lead singer Liam Gallagher.
I'm not the worlds biggest oasis fan, but I'll say this, their live performances elevate all their songs waaaay beyond what you hear on albums/videos. Saw them in Manchester 09, watching them in Manchester 25.

I am a huge Oasis fan and i don't think Wonderwall would get in to my top 10 Oasis songs. I do really like Wonderwall but they have many better songs, lot's of great suggestions in the comments so i hope you will continue your Oasis journey
I definitely will! It seems like people say that Wonderwall might be their most known, but not their best. But I'm excited to check out more and see what else this band has to offer! 😊
Nikki, I implore you to watch the music video to Oasis's "Whatever". You're going to have to trust me on this one. They do some things with violins and stringed instruments that are ridiculously good.
I was in my early 20’s when Definitely Maybe came out in ‘94. It blew me away. I saw Noel last year in west Palm beach, FL and grew up in Miami. It’s not an overstatement to say Noel may be the greatest singer songwriter in rock n roll history. Some of his best songs are B sides like “Talk to Me”. And I could name 50 more B sides like you’ve got the heart of a star and Going Nowhere. And then name 50 more wider known songs. Then I could list song by song 50 more since 2009 when Oasis broke up from Noel and his band the high flying birds. The guy’s 56 and has been writing hit after hit still for the past 15 years way past his prime. Who else can say that? Not Lennon Or McCartney, not Jeff Lynne, not Billy Joel, not Pete Townsend, not Freddy Mercury, not Roger Waters etc. And when you add Liam’s rock star persona and incredible voice, you have the makings of a once in a generation band like oasis. Incredibly written music and lyrics and two brothers who both sing well and complement one another vocally and musically. Noel is nicknamed the Chief. And for good reason. His talent is one in a billion.
Actually you aren't the only one that likes this one better. I do too. I connected the most with their song "Don't Go Away" though. And although it's a bit slower, it's very emotional. I meant to ask, have you listened to anything by the band Bush?
Hmm I will have to check that one out! And no, I haven't done Bush on this channel yet. I did a quick Google search of them and honestly none of the songs sound familiar to me.. I definitely heard OF them. Do you have any suggestions for a first song to listen to? 🤔
@@nikkireviews it was there first big hit. It’s angsty, it’s Real rock and roll! Lol I love Chris Cornell but Oasis is my favorite band. They are very tight musically, super excited they are going on a new tour!
I would check out the album "Standing on the Shoulder of Giants" that was when they started getting a little more Rock then Pop as for "Champagne Supernova" I vow you to play it on a juke box where the whole bar of ALL AGES does not sing along Oasis a great juke box band!!!
I've been to see Oasis about 7-8 times. Soon to be 9. And can defo say, these guys ROCK. Check out Rock n' Roll star and Cigarettes' and Alcohol for starters.
The Lyrics are about the "Dream of success, of achieving your dreams".., that was the muse of Noel Gallagher, to come out of poverty and reach success, "Someday you will find me caught beneath the landslide, in a champagne supernova around the sky" = one day you will all see me succeed, "Where were you while we were getting high", = where were you while i was looking for my dreams, the videoclip is about getting high and dreaming of success, cause "one day...."
I agree, Wonderwall is a bit of a drone. This song is much better, also try Live Forever and Don't Look Back In Anger. Lyrics are never too deep nor complicated
I've discovered oasis last year through my dad and I have them on my Spotify all day my favourite band ever what's the story morning glory is such a great album I recommend you listen to the master plan great song and it's only a b side !
Proper Oasis fans will appreciate Wonderwall but probably won’t even have it in their top 10/20. Slide Away, Cigarettes & Alcohol and Some Might Say usually top 5 and may satisfy your Rock desires…
I suggest u watch the Oasis documentary movie 'Supersonic'... it captured the rise of Oasis from their inception in Manchester in 1991 until their triumphant 1996 shows at Knebworth, England for 250K fans over 2 nights. All the crazy drama and band members' interviews are included.
There’s an interview with Noel Gallagher where he says he doesn’t know what the songs about even though he wrote it. He said the lyrics are nonsensical, specifically mentioning the line “slowly walking down the hall, faster than a cannonball”.
That’s usually peoples reactions who only know wonderwall they have this thought that that’s just oasis sound when in reality it’s not at all, I mean something like bring it on down from their first album is pure punk. And they also have much more rocking tunes like fade in out live at Gmex is worth a watch.
Noel Gallagher (Writer and guitar player) summed it up best with "That song is so long, and I often find myself drifting off enjoying the song and thinking, ‘What f***ng does it mean?’
“You know, ‘Walking down the hall faster than a cannonball' - What the f*** is all that about? And I should know, ’cause I wrote it, and I haven’t got a clue."

Wouldn't even make my top 20 mate.
I think a producer called 'Lucy' had a part to play in the writing of this epic track.
Hm. 🤔
Some might say love that song
I've probably been around rock'n roll a little longer than you but you have your opinion and so do I.
Love the way Americans extenuate AND....
🤔
Love that you let it play before reacting. Well done. React to Half The World Away. Trust me.
Nikki, I implore you to watch the music video to Oasis's "Whatever".
You're going to have to trust me on this one. They do some things with violins and stringed instruments that are ridiculously good.
more Oasis 🙏🏻
Great reaction react to some might say
Live forever
Dont look back in anger
Supersonic
Shes electric
Right here right now
I was in my early 20’s when Definitely Maybe came out in ‘94.
I would say this more the Oasis sound than Wonderwall is.
Hmm that's interesting. Guess I will have to keep listening to them to find out. 😜
If you want to see oasis rock out, try gas panic live in Rio 2001. They can cook lol, great vid 👍
Should check out
Live Forever
Supersonic
Don't Look Back in Anger
Some Might say
Slide away
I will be sure to check all those out over time. 😊Thank you!
@@nikkireviews I would suggest "Come Down" "Glycerine" or "Machinehead"
@@skerr808 glycerine is amazing
Between around 1994 to maybe 2000, it can not be underestimated just how god-like this band was in England.
Our alcohol session anthem
You should react to some live Oasis performances, something like Live Forever at Maine Road or Slide Away at Knebworth.
Don’t go away, girl in the dirty shirt, supersonic is awesome, talk tonight live w Paul Weller is peak Noel.
Thanks, I will add them to the list! It seems liker Supersonic is one that people have mentioned a lot!
@@nikkireviews it was there first big hit. It’s angsty, it’s Real rock and roll! Lol I love Chris Cornell but Oasis is my favorite band. They are very tight musically, super excited they are going on a new tour!
STONE ROSES...
I agree, this is way better than Wonderwall even if the rest of the world disagrees.
I much prefer Champagne Supernova.
I would check out the album "Standing on the Shoulder of Giants" that was when they started getting a little more Rock then Pop as for "Champagne Supernova" I vow you to play it on a juke box where the whole bar of ALL AGES does not sing along Oasis a great juke box band!!!
The instrument is a melodica.
I've been to see Oasis about 7-8 times. Soon to be 9. And can defo say, these guys ROCK. Check out Rock n' Roll star and Cigarettes' and Alcohol for starters.
Wow! So you've been a fan for quite awhile I'm guessing? 😊And thank you, I will be sure to check that one out!
@@nikkireviews Fan since 1994 - I'm old.
I am s excited the Gallagher brothers have mended their relationship enough to play together again!
Slide Away is a great song for your reactions.
Oasis is the best band then, now, and forever
It’s about drugs & getting high. If you ever done coke, you’ll know the feeling of your body going slow but your mind going fast..
Hm, I do not know that feeling but I guess that would make sense.
There’s an interview with Noel Gallagher where he says he doesn’t know what the songs about even though he wrote it. He said the lyrics are nonsensical, specifically mentioning the line “slowly walking down the hall, faster than a cannonball”.
@@UA-camWatcher9000 Of course he’d play it off. He suppose to tell you the feeling on what it’s like to be on drugs? Thats for you to discover.
You’re welcome world
How about some My Morning Jacket "One Big Holiday"?
I'll add it to the list. 😊 Definitely a new one to me!
I don’t deal in:
Ifs ❌
Buts ❌
Maybes ❌
Only in absolutes ✅
Oasis is the best rock band in the world!
Please listen to Slide Away. One of their best songs
That’s usually peoples reactions who only know wonderwall they have this thought that that’s just oasis sound when in reality it’s not at all, I mean something like bring it on down from their first album is pure punk. And they also have much more rocking tunes like fade in out live at Gmex is worth a watch.
