So I am gonna be honest about the video I created when addressing Rev and thoes like him. Keeping in mind what the intent is and what I plan to do with that series in the future as myself and my co-writer move forward.
First and foremost, this video series is theater. It's a show. A comedy show. And again as I mentioned before I will not be acting with an austerity within it's writing. It's meant to be aggressive on purpose cause it is "Angry News man screams about the facts for 30 minutes". That's the character I play and as you all my have noticed I played it very well. I'm going to insult everyone eventually. But understand it comes from a point of genuine frustration and criticism for an individuals behavior and actions. Some say I was openly defending Jamie, I was not. I noted that the harassment over a dumb joke is kinda really ridiculous and the beating of that dead horse goes to show the lack of actual integrity of those that bring it up to infininitum. I don't not think Jamie has handled the criticism well, but I also don't think the people who won't get over her are equally as dumb.
Next part of the argument is that I am sucking up to the industry. If you failed to notice that I was actually quite critical about their business practices as well as many of my comments over the years on all my platforms, its this time you guys just paid closer attention. I do not work in the anime industry directly, but my experience in the field around it does not negate my criticism or support of it. I also desire it to be better, but acting in bad faith or using misinformation as a tactic to harass people in it will not get the job done.
The other part is that Rev Says Desu has yet to address the actual accusations laid before him. Many of his fans as well as others who have engaged in harassment as well as practiced in using racist and misogynistic rhetoric make it all the harder to symthaize with his cause for genuine localizations. And by pinning anyone in the industry as a villain makes it harder to actually achieve that change. Rev and his contemporaries are prone to justify a lack of nuisance to be mean for money, something my character expressed only this time from the opposite end. If Rev really knew what to do, he would Apologize to the people he has caused damage too, start hiring researchers and editors, get his shit together and stop acting like he knows the industry when he doesn't and we could easily move on. But he won't, so I am not gonna waste my time trying any further.
Another quick thing I wanna note. I am not on a hiatus or ever was. I am a busy man with a life and work that requires me to give my full attention when I am not making content for my channel. Or when I have familial obligations. Just because I don't shill out content every single plausible day and moment does not mean I am not working either. I'm just doing my due dilligence to making sure the job is done right.
Also not a homophobe. I'm a Bisexual man, who has officiated 2 gay weddings, and is highly supportive of my Gay Brother and sister. If that somehow makes me self hating or homophobic, you may need to seek medical help.
Continuing on the topic I discussed with Revs content creation. If you don't like that I talked for 30 minutes about an extremely specific topic and did our damnedest to keep all information, examples and what I believe I am allowed to show on UA-cam relevant to that video, I would seem silly to not judge Rev and his ilk for making the same amount of content with less work and less relevant information with extreme biases as any better. He is a content mill, he repeats himself over and over again to make money and beat into people's head how he wants people to see the industry as he sees it. And it's not helping at all. And also it's a little silly that Rev complains I made a video about him from his content from months ago and yet won't let go of that dumb dragon maid line from years ago, so pot, kettle, black.
Last two things I swear, I am not gonna bother wasting anymore brain space or breaths on talking about Rev in any extended form in the foreseeable future. He will be made fun of, everyone is gonna be made fun of, even people I like are gonna be made fun of, I am making fun of myself as well. That's the point of comedy, none is safe. Our next script will be making fun of JellowApac and Jamie Marchi as well.
Also if you still can't gather that I am playing an angry news man with no chill and say that is just me, you may need to step back and remember you guys don't know me or who I am beyond that stage. Parasocial relationships are wildly getting out of hand, to the point that we are making missiahs and pariahs of people who are just that. People. And need to stop looking at it from a lens of those biases.
I stood by the people that were hurt and damaged by Rev and his ilk not because I am a voice actor, or even a friend. I did so knowing it was right. Knowing what happened to them was wrong and disrespectful. The fact that they got a taste of that from us, was all the point I needed to make. They can dish it, but they can't handle it. And it makes me smile ever wider.
That said, I have spoken my peace about the matter in its finality. I don't care what Rev, his fans, ilk, does or says. There are better things to discuss like... [Looks at papers] the fact that Localizations are destroying foreign media... Fucking christ. Alright yeah Myself and Truth are writing out next video about it. It's gonna be intense cause this is gonna actually lean into some uncomfortable spaces cause we are gonna go deep into it. And yes it will be another long video. Cause it's easier to say what needs to once and then move on. Okay that's it. Bye.

How about the fact that many localizers openly express distain for the anime they work on, much like the creator jelloapocalypse was recently exposed to have done? Or how jaime marchi deflects criticism for inserting her overtly extremist political views into a place it doesn't belong?

@saxor96 First of all , someone who actually speaks Japanese (unlike jaime) said that was a clear mistranslation and came up with multiple better lines that could have replaced it, and she outright dismissed them. Secondly, there are multiple examples of localizers bringing up overtly political topics besides patriarchy, such as topics like nonbinary and even gamergate

22:55 This is the part that gets me. People go about voicing their problems with localization in such awful ways. I wouldn't blame some voice actors or other people that are part of the localization process that don't like fans.
I find that adding insults every couple of sentences is distracting and comes off as unprofessional, especially at the beginning of the video. I understand that Rev does add insults in his videos, but I do think that it harms the point you’re trying to get across.
Correct me if I am wrong, but I think you were trying to correct misunderstandings, criticize how he makes videos/ the genre as a whole, that he needs to consider what the results of his actions are, that he needs to do more research/ doesn’t know what he is talking about, that the behaviour of his audience or the people on twitter isn’t acceptable, etc.
But the tone of this video comes off more like a tantrum, as a result, even when you make a valid point/ criticism, it is harder to take at face value.
Edit: it is also harder to parse out the content of your points between all the insults

I think your points are good and entirely valid, but I'm gonna be real with you boss, ceaselessly insulting the target of the video and his fans for 4 and a half minutes at the start and then sprinkling these moments as you continue though the whole video is not how you convince anyone to change anything. If anything, that more alienates you from everyone no matter how good I think your arguments are.
I agree with most of what you say but oh my god, the take you have is good overall but any way you present it wont be seen because of you complaining about him and people like him throughout the whole video. If you want change and improvement in people, dehumanizing people is absolutely no way to get anyone on your side unless you want to be running a totalitarian society.
I threw a 1984 reference at you, I watched the video the whole way. Now if you want people to respect you and change for the better, don't insult them runtime for the whole video even if you have rightful reason to be mad at them because chances are, I don't think they have the express intent of being a monster when they post.
Also I would separate the extreme trolls in any crowd from the creator if I were you, most people don't purposely create their own private hate military. I'm pretty sure rev is actively against hate raids like the ones you've referenced. Even if he is very click baity, which is a UA-cam wide problem he actively disavows of hate raids and you can't expect a random guy on the internet to be the parents of a hate mafia that he doesn't run.
One great thing you did was call him out for accountability and honestly, while he cant be their dad if you talked to him, he might try to be accountable for it but most people don't look for the worst in there fans so bring it up to him so him brining it up on its own individually might happen less then people want it to and to be fair, he does often encourage that his fans don't spread hate.
Also it is very hard to believe that this video was theater, I wouldn't play it off as an "I was joking" because of a unchecked amount of unprofessionalism.

I only recently became aware of Rev's existence because someone I sometimes watch has reacted to some of his videos about the current Nijisanji situation.

Honestly. Yes! If you have insight into how the localization process happens, then post it. Show the step by step process of what happens and how rigorous the clients needs are and what the industry does to meet those needs.
Please show primary sources too. I think it would be very enlightening and would help bridge the gap between distributors and fans. Please show examples of when the client and the localizer disagree and what happens when that occurs and how it's usually resolved.
Otherwise, the only time fans are going to see are what happens is when Jelloapocalypse brags on his Tumblr. And I think we can both agree that does nothing for anyone except make a more toxic consumer/producer environment.

I may be a fan of Rev. But even I know not to hop onto Twitter and harass people. Sure I have joined in on one or two band wagons with people who are voicing their Disdain for the parties that have been doing harmful things recently I'll admit that I even voiced my anger and frustration, and yet I've been pushing myself to refrain from joining in on posting such comments to people. What's going on here with Rev's community is there are Extremists who have taken things too far by believing everything that Rev says is gospel.

I only voiced my own opinion in the beginning because I understand that there's bound to be people who become extremists. It can and always will happen no matter what people do to try and prevent such things. Think about it the whole hogwarts legacy movement to cancel the game from being released even after the devs explained Rowling wasn't getting any money from this game that portkey games made themselves. And when this cancelation movement failed. They immediately took to attacking, doxing, and literal death threats to anyone streaming, or playing the game. Communities will always have a handful of people who will go to the extreme for what they believe in.
This was such a great breakdown. You did a great job showing how people like this operate. Plus, I’m also a friend of Shakyra. She did not deserve any of the bs Rev and his friends threw her way.

This comment section is a toxic waste dumb of bad faith and disingenuousness. Most of the people here complaining about the video clearly haven’t even watched most of it. And they certainly aren’t willing to examine why they’d rather attack someone for having views they don’t like instead of listening to those views like a mature adult. But they’re not that, so I guess that’s the reason.
I see both sides, but Rev's hypocrisy always bites him in the ass. It's a shame that he isn't a little more aware. I get being tired with PC bullshit, but proper context is often the difference between whether something is absurd or just common sense.

Rev decries how "normies" hate anime and people who like anime, entirely ignoring the fact his actions is exactly the thing that turns people away from anime. I've been a fan of Yaro for what feels like decades. I've always enjoyed his content. I also enjoy Rev's commentary on things. Rev and Hero Hei were the first ones that I subscribed to who talked about the voice actor stuff.
I still believe that Yaro is biting off more than he can chew from a target he shouldn't be attacking. Starting the video off by openly insulting Rev is NOT a good look. Yeah, yaro makes some good points. But that opening easily means his whole video comes from a position of malaise instead of wanting to have an open and mature debate. I will not unsub to Yaro, I still look forward to future content. But I can still be disappointed.
To those defending Rev, kindly re-evaluate your moral compasses, and to those giving Yaro greif because you dont want this kind of content; its his channel, he can do with it what he likes with it

The point of the video isn't "I hate Rev because he says dumb things I don't like" and its more-or-less, "Rev talks a lot of shit with no solutions, often times leading to hate campaigns, know's nothing of the topic and should be held accountable."
Look I've watched Rev for a while and slowly stopped because it's, as he says in the video, the same thing with no substance! Even the thumb nails and titles are the same, something something red lines with a short title thats extremely Click-baity.
His community isnt going to listen, they've made up their mind like so many who will never sit down and listen to counter-arguements, differ in opinions and/or valid information of the other side simply because they're favorite voice said the opposite.

if you want to be fair to rev, you should consider his perspective. and his perspective is complete dogshit, on everything he ever talks about (which you accurately name in the description), and you obfuscate that fact by opening the title using the term "maybe".

i feel like the main issue is that his bubble has been allowed to fester, and it really feeds off current far right conspiracies.
his growth also really just started when he started to pretend that he is the vanguard of loli vtubers, and then got another good push when they successfully convinced the vtuber community at large of harassment campaigns, since then there is an open flow of reactionary incel neets, many of whom get funneled through reactionary political narrratives -> pipkin pippa -> kirsche verstahl -> far right drama vtweet news.
but ultimately they all feed off each other and especially of the generally more right leaning atmosphere in the vtuber/streaming sphere.
and rev is just one of the most incompetent ones, people like falseeyed or khyo i feel are way more harmful in that sphere because they hide their bias better.
theres also an issue, i feel, with the basic premise of what they are doing. the level of outrage about stuff in the vtuber community is just never warranted, so in order to produce that content and have people engage with it and be entertained, you kind of have to pretend that there are big issues, and you kind of have to be a pos to do that.
theres just no money in it for the long run, they need the drama to exist to make money, so if their content would serve to improve the situation, theyd just fade into irrellevancy.
also, unrelated and speculative, but brittany venti and rev have basically the same political views and profit off presenting themselves as the only 2 sides in a black and white argument about loli, but im absolutely certain that they both profit massively when they beef, which, to me at least, calls the legitimacy of their beef in question.
