There are no words for this performance! My knees still get week when I hear this, and I watch it at least once a day. The album version is also insane, but to me, the intimacy of Freddie and the audience is so special, it literally makes me weep with joy!! Thanks so much!!
You could literally hear a pin drop. You can tell by the silence the audience is mesmerized. Incredible performance by Freddie but not surprised as he always gave 1000%🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️😍😍😍
Why I live this one best live: Forget the crowd, imaging Freddie inviting you to his house to visit, he says sit here at the piano next to me. You can tell Freddie is worried about something. He proceeds to tell you, in song, about this person with whom he has fallen deeply in love, he describes to you exactly how he feels, bearing his heart and soul, confessing that he would die happy for just one kiss. You feel your friend's love and his doubt. You feel his pain and just want to put your arms around him and and comfort him. This is such a deep, emotional and beautiful experience between you and your friend Freddie. Is this sufficient unto itself, or you do you want to hear more instruments and/or vocals, however beautiful, to jump in never mind even be in the same room at this moment. I rest my case.
I think we all "shiver deep inside" while listening to the depth of emotion in Freddie's voice, even in his posture and gently playing notes that lightly weave around his words. He is an absolute master. I agree with Deacy's girl that the studio version is very beautiful, but I prefer this one song that is to full of beauty and raw passion that he needs nothing beyond the voices of Freddie and his piano.
Dreamers Ball Paris 1979 is very lovely, in the style of New Orleans. Stealin', the extended demo version, Cool Cat, and Lily of the Valley are all "softer" soothing but catchy songs
Oh, yeah - Dreamer's Ball! almost nobody seems to know that one... also, Millionaire's Waltz...both featuring John Deacon and Brian May instrumentals...
In live performances, Freddie used his soft high falsetto tone very rarely. This performance was a big exception. Lateron Queen did do many tours, that he developed problems with his higher voice registers. But his voice recovered after he stopped touring in 1986. The Barcelona album is the best proof. I recommend also to listen to the studio version, as there are so many angelic vocal harmonies added, all sung by Freddie himself, so it really sounds astonishing. He most probably wrote this song about David Minns, his first boyfriend, after Mary Austin and he broke their engagement, because Freddie realized that he felt attracted by men.
Wow what a beautiful song. He really was one of the best performers of all time gone to soon but thankfully we have these videos to relive the beauty of his voice. Thanks to those who recommended it for a reaction video.
It’s amazing to realize that he had 120,000 people completely enthralled with a song no one had ever heard before. I can’t imagined putting yourself out there like that, completely vulnerable as he tells them “you’ve gotta listen to this one.” Another great one that is similar to this one is My Melancholy Blues. However, this song is the opposite in feeling as Take my breath away celebrates love, my melancholy blues laments the end of it. This is a great live performance. ua-cam.com/video/d4lzQCrkbdQ/v-deo.html
Margot Recabarren Have you ever listened to the acoustic take? Freddie asking for a run through with John on the guitar? And the end......wait for it, so adorable. ua-cam.com/video/nIT_S_l_iIQ/v-deo.html
I love this song and the live version is nice and of course it's good because it's Freddie but if you don't listen to the studio version you have never heard real Beauty! You really should check it out
Their is a reason that freddie was and always will be the greatest and best frontman of all time it's so much more than just the quality of his voice it was the passion every drop of blood sweat and tears he truly put his soul into every note he sang
Great song. But, You have to listen to a Freddy Mercury voice a-like. His name is Marc Martell. Just search you take my breath away by Marc Martell. You will not believe his voice.
