Tutorial: Drawing in the Illustrator app on an Ipad Pro
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 бер 2021
- In this video I go over the basics of the new Illustrator app on the ipad pro. You'll learn about a few drawings tools and watch me draw a full illustration of my little blue kitty. You'll even see what happens when the app crashes haha.
Tools of the Program
• Tutorial: Drawing in t...
Drawing in Illustrator
• Tutorial: Drawing in t...
Creating Clipping Masks
• Tutorial: Drawing in t...
Coloring with Gradients
• Tutorial: Drawing in t...
This is my first tutorial video - I'll get better I promise.
Please leave a comment if you want me to make a more detailed tutorial about any of these tools.
I'll also be making some tutorials for Adobe Animate and Procreate.
Things I learned while making this:
1: I need an actual microphone. Is that what I sound like??
2: Editing takes a long time, especially when your cat is mewing through a lot of clips.

This was absolutely brilliant. I cannot tell you how many videos I watched that did not come close to the tips I learned from this video. You should definitely do more tutorials ❤️
You are such a natural teacher. Thanks sooo much for this super clear tutorial- the best I’ve seen out of dozens of pro high budget ones. Please do more - you have been a massive help to me! Hugs from the UK 🇬🇧 aimee
I love using illustrator to draw on my laptop, plus as a Graphic Designer I use it daily, but seeing it for iPad and watching your tutorials are so helpful!! I cannot wait to try this! PS. Your art is amazing!!!!!!
this really made me change my mind about illustrator!! i was so frustrated at first because i couldn’t understand how it works! you have a talent for teaching for sure! 🧡
The fact when you flip the sketch, it still holds up impressed me so much, a testament to your drawing skills 👏
Thank you for this! This is the first video I’ve watched where I actually understood what was happening! I really appreciate you breaking everything down and explaining it so well. Coming from Procreate and trying to make vectors to use with my Cricut has been so complicated.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. You present the information in the way creative minds work. Try the tool, and figure it out from what it does, then explain how you would use it in your art...all in one video. That way we can learn from another creative, rather than a detail oriented thinker. It tells me so much more about specifically drawing my own characters and shading them in a beautiful way, sometimes using the default gradient colors it brings up, and sometimes changing them. I especially liked the part about saving the swatch of the gradient, only to have it not work when you click on a gradient filled shape. Just knowing to change the color to a single color first, and then select the gradient swatch, and then selecting the gradient setting to see the colors you saved. Wow. That one saved me so much time and frustration! That and watching you draw shapes free hand, and then filling them with a color and an outline. Using masks was also so helpful. I would love to see a video where you show how to use the other gradient tools, as well as moving around the gradients on the shape, and sizing and changing them in all of their forms. All of this info is so helpful and important to learn to use all of the amazing functions in this program.
You've done great with this video. I found your approach so accessible, helpful, and practical. Well done. Thank you.
this video is absolutely fantastic! PLEASE keep teaching! I have been struggling with drawing in illustrator and I learned more from you than I have from dozens of LinkedIn classes! you are so well spoken and you move at a good pace, along with taking the time to explain what you are doing and where the buttons you are using are!!
You're seriously the best, you've been helping me develop my skills since I was in middle school! Please keep posting these, I want to share this video with my art club at my community college and I know they will love your work. Take care and happy drawing!
Thank you I know the value of illustrator on the iPad so being able to express my self with this tools is amazing, and you made it so accessible thank you for the time you put on this!!!
I’m sure you get this a lot, but I was a huge fan of yours back in the day on neopets, you were a big inspiration for me pursuing digital art!
I’m so glad to see you’re on youtube and doing tutorials! I see so few people actually illustrating in illustrator, so it was fun to see your process.
I look forward to a tutorial on procreate. I feel most people I know who use procreate have a more painterly style, so it’s hard to find tutorials for more cartoon-y styles that address issues like no stabilizer to get crisp lines.
Thank you!!! I’ve watched so many videos and there’s never this much concise information. Look forward to more tutorials
Thank you sooo much! I am an absolute beginner, and I just inherited an iPad so for the first time in my life I’m trying digital art. This has been the most helpful tutorial I’ve found. I can’t thank you enough 😊
Also, I’m sure these videos take a lot of work but I’m looking forward to any more tutorials on illustrator you may have😊

Thank you, young lady. This helped me tremendously as I have always used the pen tool only. I was born on Illustrator 5.5, early-mid 90s, which came on floppy discs...a little perspective for you.

This helped me TREMENDOUSLY. Im a freshmen taking multimedia as my course but my problem is im more on the traditional side of the arts. I've expected my course to ask us to do projects thru illustrator apps like this but i was on the verge of dropping courses because i cannot grasp how this works. But this video helped a lot❤
Was great. To watch ❤

Hah I love how you skirt so many problems in illustrator with pure talent, it reminds me of that old school meme "draw the circle, draw the rest of the f*cking owl" if you were on a PC I would have many helpful hints to save time but frankly I have no idea how to use the ipad pro version of Illustrator and I honestly love seeing your creative approaches to these drawings, you are insanely talented and this made me look at illustrator in a whole new way!
Been waiting for this one. You’re the only reason why I got this app.
Still helping after 2 years
