Hi Lindy. Great video. I follow a lady, Lulu, that has a big cooler and a small plug in freezer. She freezes the blocks in her freezer and replaces them in her cooler every day. Seems to be working for her. Thanks for traveling to the wilderness for us!
Love both you and Bob! Found Bob a few years back, been watching you for a few months now! Want hit the road in my CRV, would rather have a van. Circumstances no good right now.
That was a great interview, Bob is a very interesting man, so knowledgeable. And seeing him up close, I don't really like beards, but on him, it looks good. A very handsome man.
Lindy what about an Alpicool refrigerator/freezer. Instead of making ice use and freeze ice packs and keep swaping them out? Nice that you met Bob and fun video.😊
I’ve had one at Costco. It’s last five years it’s on wheels and it keeps my stuff nice and cool. I was surprised I still had ice in it when I thought I put it in the shower to melt.
Bob Wells, that guy is GREAT. A wonderful interview. The first time heard about electric car batteries I asked the question-yeah but, what is everyone going to do about the batteries? Where will they go? The car dealers don't care - they just want to sell the cars. The batteries will be another generational problem. We'll be dead by the time the problem has to be solved. I won't be getting an electric car. But I do like solar. It's a conundrum.
Table top ice makers make hollow ice cubes so that means the ice melts super fast because it’s not solid. And by “melts super fast” I mean CRAZY SUPER FAST
Hi Lindy, I'm just catching up on some videos. Bob Wells is a rock star in the Nomad world. I'm subscribed to his channel too. I like Honesty in my social media. Scotty Kilmer and Catherine Gregory are two more excellent channels to subscribe to. Thank You for sharing. 🙏👍😎
If you have problems keeping your refrigerator cool in your van in hot weather, you can additionally insulate it on the outside plus the lid with insulation wool or panels, this will help a lot in keeping it cool, save some compressor wear, and also consume much less. (Make sure you provide an opening on the motor grille to prevent overheating of the motor!) and a very cheap solution for an ice chest, is to make one yourself with insulation panels, which you cut to the desired size, and glue them with mounting glue/sealing kit, until you have a cube, don't forget to also make the lid in this same material. to make. And to make the whole thing a bit more sturdy, you can cover it on the outside with thin wood panels (My kind greetings to you from the coast of Belgium (Europe)
Have you watch Lulu's Way the system she uses? She has the cooler but she has a small freezer to freeze her ice packets. She rotates them every 24 hours. Works great for her.
I heard somebody saying possibly people could get yearly camping privileges for a payment at places. Also, some cities changed public camping rules in some places in towns with designated areas only
What if you just buy an inexpensive chest freezer? You could run it at a very cold fridge temp or you could use it as a freezer, then freeze ice for your cooler?
The entire ice chest, ice issue is huge for me! Geesh. I had a dual for the four months I was a camp host, in 100% humid 90-100 degree MD weather, living in a tent. I was a pain, in part to humidity, no doubt. There was no way I was going to travel with it, so for me it was a financial lost. I could have done as I would normally camping with my awesome ice chest, which was too large for travel. I found a tiny fridge to keep a few things that I have on hand all the time, one or two yogurts, cheese and most importantly, glaucoma eye drop bottles! It draws less than 8 watts and I can plug in to my car when on the road. Ice... I was wondering about the ice makers... I like ice... I'm starting to purchase perishables on the day I want to cook it or if it was a good fishing day! I don't like pre-packaged foods and eat as close to natural as possible. It has taken some discipline to do this, full-time, but it has become easier to not deal with a larger chest or system... for now. I'll have to check out the ice makers and a smaller chest. Thanks, Bob! Great discussion, Lindy!
I loved listening to you and Bob compare notes and discuss the unsustainability of solar panels and batteries. Very informative. Looks like you and Bob got along effortlessly, and he enjoyed the conversation too. Was Bob able to do an interview and van tour with you? There's usually a time gap between the interviews and Bob uploading the video to his channel. Have a safe drive home. xoxo
I looked up the frig that Bob mentioned- it's unavailable right now on Amazon, but there ARE other models that are FAR CHEAPER than they were five years ago- a bouge model for $203 on a flash sale! And a 43 quart dual zone model for under $300.
I saw a van lifer gal that had a very small freezer only (looked like a small ice chest) and she kept six re-freezable ice in there and then she had three in her ice chest, she just rotated them and she always had ice! It used very little power to keep the ices frozen.
My electricity goes out so much in my home, but I have to keep so much ice in my freezer not to have my food right because PG&E’s knock it out the electricity 5-8 days a week
A huge refrigerator with a filter, icemaker, and a crushed icemaker for home. It’s $1000. Now how are they charging a tiny little thing for a van have that amount and it doesn’t last as long
I need to rant. Sustainable energy is a set up. They take away oil and gas, but the solar panels and wind mills will not produce enough energy to charge all the electric cars they want everybody to have. Plus it cost more to charge an electric car and the charge does not even last that long. You cant drive that far. There are not enough charging stations. It takes 30 minutes to charge an electric car at a charging station, but if you do it at home, it takes 3 days if you have not spent 1,000 dollars to install a special outlet to charge your car at home. Last but not least, the batteries require a lot of minerals to make and there are not enough minerals in the world to make all the batteries needed to replace every gasoline driven car. Plus the batteries only last 5 years and cost 20,000 to replace. I could say more. It makes no sense. It is a set up.
Bob is the man he cares so much about you and me..... End of story. ❤🎉❤🎉
Omagosh I just love hearing two people in my age bracket complain about the insane cost of things! You both just made my day. 😆

That would actually be a Fantastic Idea!!!❤ Thank you for sharing!!
That's what I am trying to get away from. Sorry but no thank you. Been there done that.
Maybe next time you could have your camera stationary. Like with a cheap tripod . Less bouncy with the camera.
Awesome video. I love that idea of an ice maker & insulating an ice chest.
Glad you didn’t do live! I wasn’t home! Love both of you

Yes it is and I think about it a lot.
Table top ice makers make hollow ice cubes so that means the ice melts super fast because it’s not solid. And by “melts super fast” I mean CRAZY SUPER FAST
I don't have that problem
Excellent job interviewing Bob,Lindy !
Two rockstars! Thanks Lindy!❤
Wow! Really enjoyed this interview! I learned so much thank you!

I watch the same channels.
For awhile I've wondered how useful an ice maker would be for a van dweller. Thanks for mentioning that in this video Lindy. Great guest, thanks Bob.
I still have and use my Goal Zero from 2009...
🎉🎉❤
love these videos and wish you the best, you are such an inspiration, Lindy, keep making your videos.
I like the ideal of a ice maker and a cooler. With maybe a decent cooler

Good info. Since I have a ice chest I am in the process of insulating it
I still have use an LOVE my Dometic cf18
👍😊❣️
I so enjoy your episodes Lindy! I saw the episode with Bob Wells - Girl you have the Gift - God Bless You! Many Thanks
Good interview. But made me dizzy. Camera was constantly shaking. Use a trip pod.
Have you watch Lulu's Way the system she uses? She has the cooler but she has a small freezer to freeze her ice packets. She rotates them every 24 hours. Works great for her.
I am dine with my system.
Bob lives in an ambulance? Thats nice. Know why? That is because, if youre in ambulance, you got a chance. But if youre in a hearse, it is worse.
Ice maker good idea 😊
Thank you 😊
I heard somebody saying possibly people could get yearly camping privileges for a payment at places.

with designated areas only
Yup i remember the bunny too
Great job and have FUN,Lindy !!! Hi Bob😊
What if you just buy an inexpensive chest freezer? You could run it at a very cold fridge temp or you could use it as a freezer, then freeze ice for your cooler?
Iceco has metal duel and non duel frig/freezers, but expensive.

Great interview Lindy! Bob is so great. Thanks!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
She talked right through his suggestion. I couldn’t hear what he said.
I bought a metal Vevor cooler.
🙂👍

The one I reviewed was 30 qr $139.

I have a freezer and refrigerator
You can make a nice AC with an ice chest a cheap 12 volt fan and a PVC elbow using your ice machine
My electricity goes out so much in my home, but I have to keep so much ice in my freezer not to have my food right because PG&E’s knock it out the electricity 5-8 days a week
A huge refrigerator with a filter, icemaker, and a crushed icemaker for home. It’s $1000. Now how are they charging a tiny little thing for a van have that amount and it doesn’t last as long
Not sure what you mean.
Great interview Lindy. ❤
It doesn’t matter if you can’t afford it it’s bad for the environment to keep buying it and throwing it away
Didn't throw it away. Trying to recycle.
You must stop talking over him.😂😂😂
I didn't mean too.
Us blue eyed devils like blue.

Find you a Coleman 5 day extreme. Ours is way better than that dang yetti I bought. Wasted money.
I turned on closed captioning and muted the sound. Bob's audio was low and yours was too loud.
Thx for the vid, otherwise.
Great interesting interview, thank to Lindy and Bob for sharing their experience about solar in van🙏💞🫂🌷
SuzyAnn. BOB 🚐🇺🇸🌵🙏🏼😊
