So true! I bought a couple vans that had low mileage, no rust, a very clean clean interior. But, they sat in a yard unused for years! I thought I was getting a good deal! Nope, gas lines rusted out, all of them. Gaskets rotted. One thing after another. They were unfixable. I learned my lesson.
Congrats on 1K, brother! Yes, rust is pretty tough on the old cars. I've put quarters, rockers, and pans in a few old cars, and it sucks. Where's Randy? 🤷♂
In the northeast salt claimed 90% of cars from the 60's and 70's. Most of these cars were someone's daily driver when they were bought new. They weren't treated like classics, they were treated like daily transportation. After a few years they hit the used car lots. That's when the backyard butchery began. By the time you touch a car from that period today, it's been through some stuff.
I wonder if you will feel the same way about selling the car after the winter. Time has a way of erasing the bad memories. Maybe you will feel rejuvenated in the spring to put the 225 back together. It might not need very much work, although I am not familiar with spun cam bearings.
What happened to the video with you sitting beside the right front fender of Mickey sitting outside? I looked on Ebay and couldn't find it. 10/10/23 12:15 cst. Did you sell it? Did you just cancel the sale?
There was some in the lower quarters and front fenders which I repaired by welding in patches. Nothing bad at all other than that. Floors, trunk, etc. are solid.
Solid advise from a guy that has paid his dues !

I’ll never learn my lesson! Gotta be tough if you’re gonna be dumb! So I’m pretty tough.
