Funny, I actually still have a 2000 Dixon 4423. 24 years old and still going strong. My wife gets on the new mower and I will get on the old Dixon to mow up close to the house. It wont win any speed competitions but its solid. And no, once you get the reverse friction transmission adjusted properly it will stay that way for many, many years without having to touch it. I replaced the transmission in mine around 2013 and it still works like new today. Haven't touched it since. They dont build them like that anymore.

I had a 69 Polara Custom in 75,first car. 440 4v dual exhaust,4dr(unfortunately..granny wagon 😆). Yeah it’s a good thing gas was 50 cents a gallon it went through gas,rear tires and a little oil. Needless to say I wasn’t kind to the poor thing! I had locking diff also. Kids (my age at the time 16ish) were amazed I could get that big turd to do smoky donuts. The kids with “muscle” cars could barely do that. Lack of talent I guess. You always remember your first car. Even 50 years ago!! Jesus I’m old!!😆😂🤣
