My favorite is the auto cannon. It's you basic ballistic weapon firing AP solid shot. It's got the armour penetration and rate of fire to rend through the thick armour of a tyrannid monster, punch through the light armour of eldar or tau skimmers, turn neurons to scrap, or rip the arms and legs off of Astartes.
I think heavy bolters and rockets should be BS 4+ with heavy on them. It would go a ways towards making those much more appealing to mobile infantry units.
Autocannon heavy weapon squads can be quite spicy if you have spare points for them. They need to be placed with a bit of thought, but their 48" range lets you set up with los on objectives while safe from counter fire from fire support in the enemy deployment zone. Flank objectives are popular with light vehicles, that ACs excell at denting.
What about the overwatch hitting on 4+? That seems incredibly useful in some situations. Literally covering an arc in case the opponent deep strikes or otherwise gets too ballsy.
Also, there is one argument for a HWT taking 2 of one and 1 of another. In a Chimera, it gives you versatility. 2 autocannons and a lascannon lets you choose the best tool for the job.
It's a trick question. Teams indirect fire to keep them safe from return fire. In static units/blobs Lascannons for additional AT and ablative wounds. Mobile units should be Named Regiments with special weapons.
I love the heavy bolter squad. I bought one recently because it looks cool. Probably won't use it, but hey, the rule of cool. Mortar teams are great, 1 in the command squad and 2 in infantry squad sitting on a home objective sending out annoying fire against light targets is a good way to secure objectives.
To make it slightly more efficient, I would say swap one infantry squad for a heavy weapons squad to get a total of 5 mortars since they both cost the same and you wouldn’t be using the lasguns much.
Woah that's spooky i was looking up for exactly this even on your channel and just as if the Emperor heard me himself you answered. Brilliant video bud
Double lascannon, single heavy bolter good in chimera with firing deck 2. Either 2 decent anti-tank shots or more anti-horde dakka with the extra heavy bolter.
i think the best use of a chimera gun platform is the servitors, all guns they get are good but a long range dakka tank with 12 heavy bolter shots sounds good, im leaning more towards the multimeltas tho, outflank a chimera and have fun with that. all for 105 points as well
Yes, there are three of each weapon. The mortar and missile launcher lock you out of building the other weapons, but the lascannon, heavy bolter, and autocannon can be swapped, the different gun parts friction fit onto the gun frames.
I would find an interesting use of missile launchers against Necrons. Dual profile can be quite effective against them : their vehicles aren't that tough, so the strength 9 profile can easily be effective against them ; and the splash damage profile can be useful to grind down their massive necron warriors legions and counter their "silver tide" tactics.
Lol just decided to try a creed mortar/murder ball this weekend. Just ordered a pair of sentinels and thinking about a attache as well and have a ton of cp to throw at it with my current build :)
Just a question in this. Covering Fire, ive been reading it as “move my 3 laz guns up with my troops, and use covering fire to make them him onto 4+ and delete a vehicle ” - though play more casual. So might be getting this wrong. Saves me giving them orders if im struggling, and they move and dont suffer too hard for the heavy punishment :)
Are HWS worth buying to stuff in a ogryn-carriage doomhammer? 60 points for 3 more lascannon shots seems nice, but hitting of 5s while rolling forward might not be worth it. . . .
Also the supressing fire strategem as well with mortars, I don't like that elite squad bearing down on me. Minus 1 to hit in both shooting and melee. Good luck.
@guysholliday I got some Desert heads and torsos I am swapping out the old Cadian bits with. Should be do able. I'll take a look at your req though thanks.
Take aim changes the ballistic skill by 1 therefore bypassing the hit cap and heavy adds +1 to hit. So ordering a HWT that stood still to take aim will make it hit on 3+'s
Im a little shocked you dont put stock on the overwatch ability of this unit. Sure if you just spam mortars i guess it doesnt apply, but using them to get extra shots on assault vehicles carring troops to the front or big bad monster units of Obliterators or Knights with Lascannons and Autocannons is amazing from the couple dozen games of 10th I've played. You get 50/50 odds to hit in the enemy turn, cause lets face it the things the enemy will charge is seldomly worth overwatching with in general.
Overwatch feels like such a waste unless using heavy flamers. I don’t use it at all anymore. I used it once on a Dorn and actually killed a tech marine. That’s about it though.

AC it is then

Wish you could get Heavy Flamer teams idk if it would be good but it would be cool!

Problem is it dies to bolters
Hence the "placed with thought" part.

I've got ursula creed in mine giving out free fields of fire
@chrisbeaudet5258 I've done that now. Oh my lord it's great
Just in time the Cadian tactics were a buzz with shoving HWTs into a stormlord and I was debating mortars vs lascannons to drive around with
Woah that's spooky i was looking up for exactly this even on your channel and just as if the Emperor heard me himself you answered. Brilliant video bud
It’s a shame heavy weapons squads can’t attach to infantry squads - like old platoon rules
Do you mean the infantry squads with the heavy weapon or something separate? I’m new to 40K so 10th is all I really know.
Uhhh I might be missing something but according to the data cards you absolutely can take HWT in your infantry squads.
@@zeolus123 OP means that you can't attach a full 3 gun heavy weapons squad to a standard infantry squad.
@@chanachon56 ahh I see now. That would be sweet :(.
You can also attach them to command units attached to even catachan inf using plt hq

3 heavy weapon squads of las cannons in a StormLord turns it into an armour killing beast
Lascannons, lascannons, lascannons all the way
Oh how fun it is to run big infantry blobs, yay!
Shelling people is fun but got to love a gaint las cannon

Do the kits come with the option to make all 3 of the heavy weapons teams the same weapon?
Your best option is magnetizing the options, but it still will take some effort. The mortar, your best just gluing in.
Errr yes.
Yes, there are three of each weapon. The mortar and missile launcher lock you out of building the other weapons, but the lascannon, heavy bolter, and autocannon can be swapped, the different gun parts friction fit onto the gun frames.
@@Kingofdragons117 Just making sure... I only need to buy 1 kit to make 3 mortars?
Thank you so much!
Great video. Lascannons still my favorite.
I wish they'd add a heavy stubber or a heavy las volley gun as a GPMG equivalent for flavour.
armageddon pattern missile launcher, make missile launchers great again \o/
autocannon within infantry squad is quite solid! I do think there is a really good case to be made for lascannons though.
My man uploading it when i was just putting some more HWS together
Was thinking of ordering some meself! It’s a sig’n!

Autocannons and Lascannons all the way. Mortars for the supreme command squad.
I just love the heavy bolter because it looks mean and suits the guard for me

What happened to special weapon squads?
Just a question in this. Covering Fire, ive been reading it as “move my 3 laz guns up with my troops, and use covering fire to make them him onto 4+ and delete a vehicle ” - though play more casual. So might be getting this wrong.

Question is it that indirect weapons cannot over watch period or is it that they can but it must be direct line of sight for them to do it?

Does a heavy weapons team count as 1 or 2 models when shooting from a firing deck? It counts as 2 for war gear… don’t see it mention anyplace else
Also the supressing fire strategem as well with mortars, I don't like that elite squad bearing down on me. Minus 1 to hit in both shooting and melee. Good luck.
That’s tank busting-ish laz cannon
Wait! Can you give orders to units embarked in vehicles?
Too bad i only have 2 kidneys. Tallarn autocannon teams are $$$$.
Red Pilgrim’s Desert Hawks are great Tallarn models and the autocannon teams go for ~$10 on Etsy and elsewhere.
@guysholliday I got some Desert heads and torsos I am swapping out the old Cadian bits with. Should be do able. I'll take a look at your req though thanks.
@@guysholliday beat me to the punch lol
Hold on, I'm confused. Are we able to stack +1s to hit? I keep getting told that we can't

Heavy bolters are a lot better than you give them credit for
BS on a 5+ is so bad especially for a unit entire purpose is shooting and yes i even consider heavy and Command

Hilarous timing as i just finish assembling 6 mortor teams ... shame mine are definately traitorous :P
I prefer auto cannons
O7
I put at 3 weapons. I like the morter for scattering infantry, autocannons against elites, and lascannons for the more heavily armoured units.
