I'm from the west, I don't attack Hindu traditions.
Don't confuse the west with only Britain.
The Hindus that I have had encounters with have all been very nice.
American, Dutch and Australian Christian missionaries demonize Hinduism on a routine basis
Unfortunately, it's not only Britain in which Hindus get attacked, that's why it's always referred to as "the West"
same here, but I don't see where they actually discussed that topic. It was only in the heading from what I saw. I live in India most of the time and am a Tantrik Hindu by all rights and do my best to revere their traditions...
The west is mostly Christian and if you know how most Christians feel about Hinduism then you’ll understand.

It is such a shame that this video has been labelled "Why The West attacks Hindu traditions". It completely mischaracterises the interview and does a disservice to the very tradition it seeks to exalt. "West attacks Hindu" is the divisive, objective language of 'them and us' that directly goes against the ultimate pūrṇatā and advayam that Acharyaji so eloquently spoke about. The title of this video demonstrates a superficial understanding - a particularly modern kind of ajñāna that warps ancient wisdom into dog whistle politics, entirely missing the point.
Why judge a book by its cover?
The naming of the title is not perfect, but it's not completely incorrect too. They are adjusting to the algorithm to attain greater reach.
The othering is not of the humans from the West, but the dominant monotheistic and monopolistic ideas popular in the west.
The speaker himself identifies it as a "Heathenization of the Other" by Christianity. If that cannot be characterized as an assault then what is an assault.
He even goes ahead and explains how the shame of being denigrated in West has led to the Indian Intellectuals abandoning the association with the feminine divine in Kali. The best example he mentioned is the Vedantic Society which is an offshoot of the Ramakrishna Mission Order. Ramakrishna Paramhansa was probably the most dedicated, explicit devotees of Maa Kali, but his own followers avoid being associated with Shakta symbolism, just to be accepted by the West.
It is the natural progression of an idea. Understand the active threat against your idea, accept the threat, develop a reaction and finally develop your idea positively independent of the initial stimulus.
You are jumping to the last step where borders are dissolved and everything/everyone is one. This video is for the largest possible span of viewers who are at different stages of realization.

We at the Vedanta society see Thakur ( Sri Ramakrishna) as an Avatar of Ma Kali.. worshipping Him is same as worshipping as Ma Kali

RKM have Vedanta Societies there not Kali temples, so I don't understand why the speaker wants yhem to have a statue of Kali there, they don't even have statues of Holy Trinity( specifically Thakur)
Why are they expecting an idol of Kali there, also despite being Vedanta Society Durga Puja etc happens there in image form not the idol form.

Yeah, all the same, it will be great if you all celebrate and do regular puja for Ma Kali at R K mission. Plus removing Jesus pictures and idol from the puja rooms would help. Plus stop celebrating Christmas in a grand way or in any way would really help. Plus not going around and espousing the rubbish that all religions are same and preach the same would help tremendously.
Then come back and tell us about Avatars etc. We might listen then.
@Indian Hound Jesus's teachings are very Advaitic in nature. From an Advaitic perspective every human, in fact every Jiva, is Brahman in reality. God is both formed and formless .. formed depends on your istha devatha .. for most of us it is Thakur.
There are centers where the residing Swamsi / Matajsi do a daily Kali puja.
I pray directly to Ma Kali on a daily basis .. and the only reason I started doing it was because of what I learned at Vedanta society. There are those for whom Jesus is the Ishta..and they get initiated with a Jesus Mantra

I am sorry that Hindus are feeling animosity from the West. In contrast, I would like to learn more and find myself intrigued. I really appreciate that anger is represented in Kali. As a mother, I see anger can come from a sacred place and have a sacred end.
Rajarshi Nandy needs to speak with this great acharya and realize the truth about his own substantialist bias. Acharyaji clarifies the nondual nature much better - Rajarshi does not understand the nondual.

That’s because the followers of Abrahamic religions have done a humongous job of putting us down! Therefore followers of non Abrahamic religions should at least attempt to enquire into their faith & read at least one important scripture like the BG. It’s honestly to do with one’s attitude but I certainly don’t mean to encourage the other extreme methods employed by the followers of Abrahamic faiths.
Change the narrative. Don't call them Christians. Churchians is the word to use for those who follow the teachings of the church.
