Acharya-ji, as I think over your remarks, which deserve continued consideration because they are fundamental to the human situation, these ideas come first to mind: With respect to Hinduism, when I think of the Divine Feminine (as a principle rather than a specific form of Mahadevi) the first and foremost associations are creativity, multiplicity, and interrelationship. Our numerous devata, who present themselves (physically, subtly, or imaginatively) to our sensory faculties, are conceived and experienced as engaged in various kinds of relationships with us and with one another-- as described in so many famous stories. Our devata are persons, and also they are cosmological principles, as well as aspects, qualities, and inherent potencies of Paramatman. Because we Hindus have such multidimensional devata-bhakti, our spiritual aspirations are not only vertical but also horizontal. Pūrnatva encompasses both the transcendent and the immanent-which is why our notion of spiritual liberation also includes the appreciation of what we describe as pañca-kṛtya līla.
