Great to see a new upload, had been missing your videos! Really enjoyed the upside down section 😂 My wife and I have secured our apartment near Unjeong station out towards Ilsan way. Will be there for a year from end of Jan. Can’t wait to ride my new Brompton G Line all over the place. They’re opening a new train line today that will take us to Seoul Station in 25 minutes which is great as I was concerned about living so far outside Seoul. If you fancy cycling somewhere new it’s very cool round there. Unjeong lake park is great, as is Ilsan lake park. Can cycle all the way to the DMZ too which I’ve done a few times. Hope you had a nice Christmas 🎅
Hi, you live in the same neighborhood as me. If you want a quiet ride without people, I recommend the Gongneungcheon(공릉천) Trail. It is a place where many migratory birds stop by in spring and fall, and there are gravel and bike paths that are not paved because of the migratory birds. This creek trail leads to the Han River and northern Seoul.
Thanks for the video. I went on the same loop around the waterfall and buamdong without planning to. Just kept cycling without knowing where I was going. Best day I've had all year.
Great video as always. I must admit I was a bit concerned regarding the situation in Korea so I'm pleased for you that things have calmed down. Best wishes for the New year.
man, I really enjoyed this video. I'm usually making coffee in the woods, ( it's my thing) but I'm glad that you were so pleased with the espresso, I'm sure you made the Baristas day
You were my first thought hearing the news. Glad you are ok. Yesterday a visited my daughter in Frankfurt and took my bike with me. Had a nice 1,5 h tour from Zoo to Bergerstraße and around. Maybe you remember. Best wishes
I'm glad to see you're back. I was concerned that this was going to escalate that there would be no communications out. You are right about so much of your political commentary. These systems and government employees with their political and corporate patrons aren't serving anyone but themselves. The galling thing is that the citizen/taxpayer is paying for all of it with little return on investment. While Seoul may have a dearth of super good infrastructure for bicycle/pedestrians, at least you have some. You should colab with not just bikes. His review of international bike infrastructure is great. Be safe and pedal more.
Thank you for another lovely video Marcus. I hope you and family have a lovely new year, I'm so glad I discovered your videos this year. May you meet lots of good luck, good fortune, and always be blessed with good health in 2025 -- and of course keep on biking next year!
Your videos make me feel really happy. There is always light at the end of the tunnel. I was in San Juan Bautista, CA. Yesterday I went to my favorite coffee shop Vertigo Coffee. I ordered a flat white and notice a friend that I waved Hi 👋🏼 to and ask if I can join him. We talked about politics and how our town can do so much better with supporting small businesses and possibly making it more bicycle friendly. The thought came to me and it would be really neat to see a bicycle trail being built from Hollister to San Juan Bautista. Take care of yourself enjoy the ride. ☕️👍🏼⛄️
I let out a heartfelt sigh when I received the news. These things happen and then it’s reassuring to see democracy at work. I was thrilled to see the marine mammal mural on your ride. Reminds me of one of my favorite series, The Extraordinary Attorney Woo. A happy thought.
Seasonal greeting to you and your family, great to see different areas of Seoul, and a healthy version of the uk's greasy spoon for workers, although not many greasy spoons here these days. It must of been surreal to live through a possibly takeover.my brother lives in shenzen in China, he told me an old Chinese proverb,"may you live through interesting times" you are spot on on you observations of uk politics, I thought it was suppose to be thst the politicians serve the people not the other way round.all the best for new year, good health to you and your family.
I really enjoy your video's. They always make me want to ride my bike! Though, I am a bit envious of how you can leave your bike outside unlocked when you nip into a cafe for a coffee, bike would be gone before I had ordered a coffee here!
You mentioned friends being worried how the world sees what's happening.. let me tell you, SK's response to the political situation the last few weeks has been one of the few bright spots in the news. Everywhere else seems to be tobogganing head-first into fascism, but the people of South Korea said "NO!", organized, protested, and were effective. If people are worried about how they're seen: they're seen as everyday heroes who wouldn't lay down.
Another beautiful video. Thank you. I lived briefly in South Korea and realised that you could leave your most valuable thing in a bus stop and the Folk would do whatever it took to return it to you. And that the only crime there is corporate/political.
Been thinking of you and your Korean family these past few weeks. Glad you're doing okay 😊 two presidents impeached in a few weeks, kinda bananas! But I love how politically active and informed Koreans seem to be. A nice CCPC (Croissant Crumbs Plate Club), not to be confused with CCCP. I hope you and your family had a glorious Christmas and have a wonderful new year. All the best for 2025. Happy holidays, everyone 💚
Love your videos as always. Maybe with the rise of e-bikes, Koreans will be more open to getting around by bike and taking on the hills with some electric assistance, leading to better bike infrastructure eventually. Or maybe not, since moped scooters are already everywhere and can just ride on the roads.
Korea is a car country. Most average families have two cars. That’s one of the big differences with Tokyo where you barely see cars. Plus almost no bicycle commuters in Seoul compared to Tokyo. Every mom rides bicycle with their kids.
Hi! I hope you don't mind me asking on this video since it covers a serious topic, but what are those cloth looking grips in blue/green/brown called/what brand? I would love some on my ride and I have tried to search for cloth looking grips like these online but can't find any... Thanks and ride safe!
No worries. My video was not serious for about 1 and half minutes. I used bar tape to make the harlequin pattern. It’s the most difficult work I’ve ever done on a bike.
@@probablyriding thank you for answering, I was thinking that it might be hand made but it was worth a shot! And thank you for the cozy videos, hope one day I can come back to Seoul and this time with my bike, will be a long journey from Sweden though! Take care :)
Visited and stayed at Insadong during these times. Super chilly and there were a lot of police on stand by. But it was still peaceful and beautiful nonetheless. Id like to bring my brompton there some time ☺️
After 감나무집, if you like a strawberry cake, Peoni would be a good place that is one or two blocks away. I knew you couldn't resist "eat more gluten". Cheers.
When COVID hit and everything went to shit, I rode my bike. And then the day after, and after, and after... Got that plan in my back pocket whenever things get weird again. My bike will be there.
The SK government may have been in chaos, but your video still gives off the calmest vibes. Thanks for taking us along for the ride!
Thanks, it was a nice day for a ride.
Thanks for the insider commentary on the subject, and thanks for putting our videos despite.
No problem, I hope you enjoyed the video!
Enjoying what you have is a great philosophy. Glad the situation isn't as chaotic as it could be for you. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching!

Great to hear!
Very enjoyable! Thanks! Makes me want to take a ride and to visit Seoul.
Thanks for watching. Seoul is worth the visit.

Your coffee shop recommendations never fail. It's 9:45 in the evening, and I'm wanting coffee now, but alas, no decaf beans.

14:15 completely agree, and as a displaced Melbourner, I cannot for the life of me find a decent long black in Seoul. The hunt continues.
Just giant americanos.
Absolutely love your vibes and perspective :)

I enjoy safety here. I do lock my bike after taking the shots though. However, a lot of my friends don’t.
Fancy taste in cafes, rustic takes in restaurants. I couldn’t agree more!

Looks Beautiful 🤙🤙
Thanks 👍
How do you navigate all narrow back streets and alleys. I would get lost for sure. I hope it stays peaceful there. Happy New Year. 🎉
Riding my bike every day and living here so long helps me with my way around.
Please share the brand of frames you're wearing... 👍
Moscot Miltzen. Classic
just binged Squid Games and then saw you uploaded new video, dang it's a good day!

Encouraging from the majority of people. Sadly there’s still a small but very loud group of pro Yun and Martial Law people.
Hi Marcus! Can I encourage you to make playlists for your videos? Maybe group them by year, season, trips, location, activities, etc.?
That's a great idea!
The most stylish martial law rider ❤️

Thanks! 😊
Great to see you.

I’m loving the roll neck 👍
Thanks 👍🏻
Sometimes a bike lane doesn't feel like a bike lane at all.
😔
what camera/s are you using to film? love the chill vibes, makes me want to ride but currently exhausted from the daily grind
I think riding bikes is a good respite from the daily grind and helps with the exhaustion. I use an iPhone and www.insta360.com/sal/go-3?INRL3L3
Was hoping you would reference the recent happenings in SK. Out of curiosity what’s the approximate distance of a ride like this? I’m in the states
This was about 30km. 19 miles.
Great vid! Respect your restraint on chasing down e bikes that over take you
Haha I just ride the pace I want.
What kickstand did you choose to put on that beautiful bike?
Im not sure the model. It was the cheapest one from Bluelug when I went two years ago.
What's the road biking scene like there?
It’s probably the strongest bike scene here.
@@probablyriding SK is on my bucket list then. Thanks:)

Nice video, even with the turmoil, biking seems relaxing. I live in a windy and hilly city myself. How many gears does your bike have?
2x9. Enough for the steep hills here.
Another great and calming video in such turbulent times. On another note ! what bars are you riding ? thinking the Alt route on my Rufus Stone. Thanks
The first bike in the video has Nitto Bosco and the second has Billie. Congrats on the Rufus Stone!
Beautiful bike, man!
Thanks, I love it!

E-bikes make a lot of sense here. As long as they are pedal assisted e-bikes and not just electric motorcycles!

Is there a reason you didn't go to the parliament building?
It wasn’t near anywhere I needed to go. Also better for non-citizens to steer clear of huge political protests.
I like that public fitness equipment😂
Me too!
Decent leg burner on 17.50. Oooof.

Wealth disparity is a human condition, not a cultural one. It is all over the globe -- people are the ones that put money before anything else.
True but I feel it’s more pronounced in some countries.
@probablyriding Yes, that is true. But exploitation is exploitation regardless of the level.
Anything specific to cycling in Korea changed due to this political change ?
No, only that imported bike parts will get more expensive with the plummeting exchange rate.
@@probablyriding ok got it.
Hell yeah mince pies.

Kudos to the Koreans for ousting their wannabe dictator. Here, in America, we re-elected ours. Sad. Loved your video as always. Cheers from America.
Stay strong.
whats with the american flags though?
Ignorance.
Just chillin' through a failed coup
✌️
hopefully the next president will have bike-friendly policies for co2 and public health.
