      I know what you mean about not expecting it. I still remember getting a call from a friend telling me to turn the tv on that their had just been a horrible accident in NY. I turned it on just in time to see the 2nd plane hit and that is when we knew it was no accident. I felt so bad for the people that lost their lives that day and the people that lost loved ones that day and in the days following the attacks. I can't speak for anyone but myself when I say I am very glad that I live in a country that is free and it is free due to the sacrifice of brave men and women. There are not words strong enough to let them know how thankful I am for their sacrifice.

    Toby Keith was a huge country star back in the early 2000's , and he still is. This was a tour of bases in the middle east after 9/11. This song talks directly about the awakening of a sleeping giant after the attack on 9/11!

      “We’ll put a boot in your a**, it’s the American way.” They first got the memo when Pearl Harbor happened then when 911 happened we just reinforced that memo and they realize that they had messed up because it only took us like what two years to informed that memo after Pearl Harbor? And then when they attacked us on our land we proved we don’t have to be an older country to prove that we’re not here to play

    • @pauld6967
      @pauld6967 3 роки тому +5

      @@braebuckner3464 I would say the memo to Japan that they had messed up was the Doolittle Raid on Tokyo, launched from the U.S.S. Hornet on April 18th, 1942.
      So that would be 4 months and 11 days after Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor.

    • @DSiren
      @DSiren 2 роки тому +1

      Ironically, due to the fact that we haven't mobilized for war since WWII, the most recent countries to feel our wrath are Germany, Italy, and Japan. Nobody alive today knows quite what a truly enraged America looks like, and I imagine the next time the sleeping giant is awoken, we'll spend at least a hundred trillion, maybe more on the war.

I don't know how many since then he's done but he's still out there going to Bases, including here in the U.S. Also, this song came out right after 9-11 and President Bush didn't like it (go figure, right?) but typical Toby in Oklahoma fashion said he didn't write it for him....it's for the troops. A patriotic song from the United States. But the mentality of it is from everyone thats stood in the face of evil and gave the middle finger in blatant defiance.
    From the defiant people of the underground shelters of London during WW2 to 9/11. When people refuse to give in to evil, evil gets decimated.
    Great video from y'all across the pond!

    Listening to you speak makes me homesick for Manchester. I grew up there in Northenden until 1972 when we moved to Mississippi. I did come back from 1994 until 1997 and hated how much it had changed. Toby Keith did this song justice. He's awesome. Thanks for the memories guys.

    You actually hit the nail on the head when speaking about how it is now "uncool" to support them. In certain areas in America, a big portion of the population now decided to criticize the military to extreme extents. There have been times where someone could be wearing a patriotic shirt, and they do get called a racist or worse just because they support our military. It's a topsy turvy world we live in, but I really respect your opinions on the subject.

      I am reading this a year after it was written, and as I am writing, Russian forces are savaging Ukraine.
      It seems that we never learn the lesson. There ARE evil people in this world and brave men and women with everything from a 9mm sidearm to a Minuteman III are what protect the United States from ever seeing that on our streets.
      Maybe we ARE a violent people, raised on the stories of Englishmen sailing literally to terra incognito (the Jamestown and Plymouth colonies) having to provide for and defend themselves from scratch. So be it. We DO shoot and stab and beat each other too much. But even the Bloods and Crisps would join hands to wipe out an invading force. "A rifle behind every blade of grass" is the apocryphal quote from Yamamoto; if he didn't say it, he should have.
      BUT, what can you say about this?
      www.miamiherald.com/opinion/op-ed/article259392144.html
      Perhaps I am wrong?

      My mom remarked how the patriotism she felt as a child during WWII was back when 9/11 hit as compared to the days of Vietnam. I wish we could get that back without something so tragic as an attack on our homeland.
      As citizens we can just try to make sure when we say, "liberty and justice for all" we really mean it and are sensitive to those who don't feel it.

      Instead of saying "Down with the Snowflakes", let's put our arm around them and remind them that the flag does represent freedom and protection for all Americans. Those who haven't always felt safe need to see our brave soldiers and know they are included when we say liberty and justice for "all." My hope is that all Americans can feel what we feel when our heart swells every time we hear this song.

    In June of 2002 I was stationed at MacDill AFB Florida, we were, at that time still heavily involved in Middle Eastern Operations. It was announced that President Bush was coming to the base to address the troops and we were to assemble about 3 hours early in one of the hangers to await his arrival, (Hurry up and wait). As we stood in the hanger, the wing CCMSgt came out on the stage and said, may I present country music recording star Toby Keith. We were stunned, I don’t think anybody expected that. He had 1 other guitarist with him, and of course sang “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue”. That day I became a Toby Keith fan, I still get goosebumps every time I hear it.

    I recommend the Tennessee Titans for Dave. Check out Derrick “King” Henry 20-21 Highlights to see why. His football accolades from back in High school through college into the NFL is unreal.
    The Titans are located in Nashville TN (the heart of where those aforementioned Scots Irish English settled)
    The offense is a bit of a throwback, led by Henry’s rushing. They focus on running the ball and controlling the clock (# of possessions) while having outstanding explosive play ability.
    The defense left something to be desired this last season, but every team has its weaknesses.
    Thanks Blokes & Keep the great content coming!

    I have the absolute and utmost respect for all of our soldiers, sailers, airmen, and marines that put themselves in harms way to protect our country. They are true heroes and deserve all of our respect.
    But I don't have respect for, and honestly loathe, politicians who put our men and women in service at risk for matters that have zero to do with our national security.
    Loving our troops means that you do not send them into harms way unless its absolutely necessary.
