I love these engineering videos as well. I liked the settle railway station footage.I like the viaduct as well. Ive only seen them in simulations not up close. Thank you so much.
Morning Alan and Sally, lovely to see Sally back with you again. What a fascinating sequence of visits, really interesting to watch. I must admit that the star of the show for me were those pieces of chocolate cake! Really looking forward to seeing what you get up to next. Cheers...🍷🍷
Thank you so much Steve, we’re glad you enjoyed this episode. Can’t beat a cup of Yorkshire and cake. I think we are too! Still more cruise episodes to come. Cheers 🥂

Thanks Alan and Sally, for taking us along on this beautiful trip to Yorkshire with great historical info' and brilliant drone footage of the trains on the viaduct. I hope that you are both doing well. Take care and all the best. Stevie
Hi Stevie, we’re delighted you enjoyed watching, thank you for your appreciation, I was very pleased with the Ribblehead footage. All the best, keep safe.
Great video Alan and very interesting. Love the footage of the viaduct and some stunning camera angles. We have some amazing history and heritage in this country but we all need to get out there and enjoy it. Thanks for sharing and take care both of you.
Thank you Mark for your appreciation. I will be showing a variety of heritage items on my new channel “Interest In Heritage”. If you haven’t done so, I hope you’ll subscribe. Cheers, all the best.
Thanks for sharing this. A few weeks ago I walked under the Ribble Head Viaduct and over Blea Moor. I was lucky enough to see a steam locomotive crossing the viaduct. And of course after a day walking it's good to get into the Station Inn for a drink and a hot meal. All the best.
Hi Alan and Sally, Four very interesting topics at locations I have been to often. I was told that the double arched bridge was originally a pack horse bridge but when the canal arrived it was built so that canal boats could pass under it. Then, as motor vehicles became the main form of transport, the bridge was highered once again to carry the main road as it is today. To look at it, it doesn't appear to be different building styles as it is all built in rough stone. In any case, it is still regarded as one of the wonders of the canal world. Thanks for the vlog.
That's very kind of you to say, thank you. There does seem to be uncertainty about the full history of the bridge, I referred to its heritage listing in my narrative. Building two arches would of course have saved a lot of stonework but it does have the look of having been raised, so possibly shortly after it was built. Cheers, thanks for watching and commenting.
Alan you are right Yorkshire is beautiful. i was in Clapham and Settle area when i was 10 yrs old in 1951 on holiday from my Home town Liverpool ten i was there about 10 yrs ago and it is just as i remembered it has not hardly changed at all still beautiful so thank you for the memories. Sally looked like she was having a good time with you and she new about the railways thats a bonus for you. Ed 40 S of Vegas
Hi Ed, thank you so much for your comment, Sally and I are pleased that this video brought back fond memories for you and that you were able to make a visit 10 years ago. Sally and I have much in common particularly with our campervanning and narrowboat interests. We hope you're keeping well, all the very best to you.
Hi Alan & Sally , Loved the vlog. Very interesting double bridge over the canal. It does look like it was built at the same time to me. Other than the top bit that does look newer. Absolutely loved the viaduct, great footage with the drone too. The station was lovely. The buildings have been beautifully maintained. Thanks Alan, have a good week xx
Another great video Alan and Sally The engineers from those days certainly new their stuff. I seem to recall that the water tower restoration and conversation to house were featured on Grand Designs some years ago
Thank you so much Nigel. You're quie right, the water tower did feature on TV but it was on Channel 4's 'Restoration Man', I remember watching it. Cheers
Lovely. Somebody has labelled the benches Settle Up and Settle Down. These are not just a corny puns but statements of fact: the up line at all British stations is the line you take take to go to London and vice versa.
Thanks Colin for mentioning that, I don't recall ever going there but I note there is a railway viaduct and aqueduct close together, so well worth a visit.
That's correct Alan, a lot of industrial history in the area too Sadly many of Mills demolished eg Print works at Strines It would be worth a trip up the Trent and Mersey to Macclesfield Canal and Peak forest canal Magnificent scenery. @@MyNarrowboatVenture

I thought it was great to see the benches labelled like that. I expect many won't realise the significance of it.
There is a double arch viaduct over the peak. forest canal possess River Goat weir worth a visit to Marple
