Been seeing this mouse pad on my online shopping app. And then tried searching here in youtube and here you are again with your quality hands on review.
@@ricardofranco4114 I find it easier to aim with this than with the steam controller WITHOUT the gyro. Not saying a gyro wouldn't be better. Just saying Its not as bad as you probably think it is. I don't know why, but I think maybe its just because the trackpad is a lot bigger.
Just ordered this controller, and to see you using it on this game, I know how quick you have to be because I played it on PS5. Let me know. I just have to practice with this controller. Your gameplay has been the best I’ve seen with it !
Thanks! I hope you enjoy it, I still really like using it even though I don't use it for shooters much. Just an FYI there is a newer version than the one I show in this video that has wireless and gyro built in.
There is no software, but it presents to the PC as a mouse and keyboard input device so you can remap whatever you want using software like reWASD or just inside games themselves. I think this device is what the steam controller should have been tbh, it's just so well suited for PC style games
Yes, the Shotpad sends mouse and keyboard inputs, so the bumpers are left mouse button and right mouse button on the top left/right respectively and LMB is shoot usually You can always remap that if you want but I prefer it that way anyway
i broke mines by mistake when i sat on it like a idiot but it is indeed a good option if you need a new steam controller but dont wanna spend the scalper price for a new one. also i hear it works with xbox and playstation but dont have those so i dont know.
Bummer that you broke it :( I agree it's a good replacement for the Steam controller. It sends only m/kb inputs though so it would only work on xbox/PS for games that support m/kb
What a funny looking little device. Is that meant more for FPS? I imagine that you can use that as a regular mouse also, in Windows 10? How does it perform playing fighting games, like Tekken 7 and Soul Calibur?
It's meant for FPS but I think it's best for tactical/strategy type games or RPGs. I haven't tried any fighting games but they would need to support m/kb controls as that is what this device sends to the PC. And yeah works in Win10 as a regular mouse
It could be, but I think the upcoming version with Gyro would be way better for that. I don't think the trackpad alone is that accurate but there are people coming from mobile etc that are very good with them
-Could you please give a review of this and maybe its compatibility with some game types? :O Looks really interesting with that large surface area for accuracy. I'd love your review in particular because you have a good understanding of such devices. :)- NEVERMIND, I just saw your description! That gives me a good idea. Damn shame that it's not a highly accurate pad... otherwise that'd be such a cool device to try. Might still be good for me to use with Soulslike games though over a normal controller. Unless you know of another device that provides great accuracy for the right hand?
TBH I'm not very experienced with touchpads to begin with so when I say it's not highly accurate that could just be me as well. For example during the boss fight in the video I found it hard to keep on target when it moved far away, whereas I wouldn't have that issue if I was using a gyro or a mouse I think it would work fine for souls games, as I've played those games with m/kb configs in the past and they all worked well post-DS2
I've never played that game but doesn't it benefit from analog control for acceleration and turning etc? Not sure this would be a good fit because it emulates kb/m
@@directedinput true the analog stick is really just for camera. But some people like to use the trackpad for camera. I like it on the steam deck, ymmv
@@BuddyStud why only if you use rewasd? I do use it for scum and thinking if getting an elite controller because of it. Then I saw this. I'm playing alot of marauders and escape from tarkov atm. Do you think this or the elite would be better?
@@KinsFluff my issue with it is that it has no software behind it so let's say you have bindings you use constantly in certain ways for a majority of FPS games but the layout of the default clash with it, you are left with 2 options. Rebind everything in game for more comfortable experience or the more sensible option is rebind the controller itself to match what you would want in game. That way you only have to change the fundamental bindings of the controller itself instead of per game. Also I'm on the front of the fly Digi Apex 2 being the best controller in the universe hands down no exceptions. It has 11 extra buttons, a third analog axis, gyro(the most accurate I've used actually), Hot swappable sticks, snap-on phone mount , micro switch buttons , Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz dongle option, software, and it comes with a controller case. It is also natively supported through rewasd so every functionality is realized. The only downside is that it does not have analog triggers for racing games, but zero travel time on pulling the a trigger makes up for it which you should definitely use this for shooting games because of that. And you can always bind the third analog axis to accelerate and break. Did I mention it's only $90? Imo it's underpriced for how fantastic it is.
This could unironically replace my steam controller, it looks exactly like what i've been looking for. Shame about it not having Gyro though, all it needs for me to buy it.
Yeah, honestly if it had Gyro this is exactly how I'd want a modern Steam controller to be (assuming they don't embrace the glory of split design). It just forgoes any semblance of trying to be a regular dual analog gamepad and instead focuses on what you need for m/kb input.
That's what gaming giant's like steam and you and I know that the others don't know and would probably laugh at us for. Touch controls are the best mitigation for recoil. Bar none.
Steam controller has gyro, but yes it is the same principle. I like this layout a lot better though, wider touchpad and better button layout instead of following the gamepad standard.
So excited my controller is coming this Sunday
Mine will likely arrive this week... And my Steam Controller should arrive tomorrow.
Did you purchased the wired or the wireless version?
Did buy the gyro version of it????

Never seen this before, looks very neat and likes good option while we wait for a proper steam controller 2
It doesn't have gyroscope 🙂

This is Returnal on PC. PS5 players, it only works with games that allow keyboard and mouse already, but it's looks neat at least.

Does the controller have its own software for mapping keys? How well does it stand up to the steam controller?
