  • Printing with PETG filament is now a whole lot faster! Elegoo sells rapid PETG filament for around $13 a roll and it can be printed at speeds up to 600mm/s. I'm going to test it out on the Flashforge Adventurer 5M 3D printer.

I just started printing with that EXACT filament as well and ran through most of the calibration settings/tests in Orca and found almost exactly the same thing. 250'C was too oozy and I had bad melting/warping and leaking from nozzle. 230'C felt a little too low for layer adhesion, but it wasn't bad. Overall, I'm at 235/85'C for first layer and 230/80 for remaining with pretty aggressive cooling turned up on overhangs and slowed down outer lines to 150mm/s and making sure to have slow down on curled perimeters to help with the warping / curling upward I noticed.

5:36 That looks like it would be a magazine :D Clips are a little different, they look like relatively thin pieces of metal that go inside a gun's internal magazine, and you push your cartridges in there, as opposed to pushing them into a detachable magazine. Once all your cartridges are spent and the last one is ejected, the clip ejects too, and you can then put a fresh clip in. Think of it as a paperclip, except it holds cartridges (the brass tubes that hold the bullets).
Sorry, I'm a 3D printing nerd too, but also a gun nerd :)
This is very cool by the way. I got some of this PETG too and I was kind of scared printing it at higher speed, but what I am getting from your video is that it is meant to be printed at these speeds, and probably should be. I appreciate you sharing your settings as not many folks do. Will definitely use that as a starting point for my rapid PETG and see how it goes. Btw I found that I got REALLY good quality at 220 if I am printing under 100, but I imagine that is probably not going to be often with this filament, as my printer can handle up to 500 :)
Great video brother, thank you for this useful info.

I'm printing with petg but not with rapid. I agree with your assessment. I keep my bed at 80 and my nozzle at 260 for the first 2 or 3 layers, then lower to 230. Seems to work well for me. I get beautiful prints. Petg is my new favorite filament. Keep up the good work. 👍

That’s some really great results. It’s good to know that I’ll be able to branch out to other filament types if my needs require something other than PLA with the 5M!

I had some really good results from the orca slicer profile for regular petg. 255 nozzle temp running at 300mm/s inner walls and 200mm/s outer walls. This was on a handful of 25mm wide cable chain parts.

glad to see you got good results, I tried petg a few days ago, calibrated it, started a print, about half way through it was going well, came back in the morning, and it was a disaster, holes in it, zits all over it, just terrible, this was on a p1p, so kinda of open like the flashforge, I feel confident it was user error.

I got my Adventurer 5M (amateur? not the Pro model) a few days ago and I'm printing ABS on just by putting it inside a box. It's actually an old box that I was using to print ABS on my old Ender 3, but I think the box the Adventurer came in would be perfect - with the flaps opened up and taped together to make it taller. I cut a hole out of the back of the box so the printer still gets cool airflow to the electronics.
I sliced using Orca with the 5M Pro configuration (so it will allow me to choose ABS as the filament type).
    It's working great.
I'm only doing it in my basement with an exhaust fan pulling air outside, and I don't hang around by the printer while its working - ABS fumes are nasty and probably carcinogenic. When the print is done I run down and take the box off of the top of the printer and run back upstairs and let it air out for 10 or 15 minutes before I go down and start taking the part off.
It's working great so far. I started out with small items to make sure the settings were acceptable - no stringing or extrusion problems - and now I'm ramping up to bigger parts and the only failed print I've had was with the stock textured bed. I put a Creality smooth PEI bed on it and it sticks incredibly well.
I am really happy with this printer. It is leaps and bounds a better thing than any of my old bed slingers.

Love your videos. My rapid petg comes in today. I grabbed 2 rolls of black and 1 green to print my custom enclosure with. not sure if you have a video of it yet but since we talking petg an unclogging video would be great. Just had to clear a clogged nozzle and could only find 1 video of how to do it and since I’m only about 2 months into printing a better video would have been much more help and reassuring I wasn’t about to ….up my machine

Awesome results. I just ordered the same Adventure 5M you have a few days ago after a bunch of research on Core XY printers. Looks amazing for the price. I must say those prints look great. With most of the modified plastics like Easy ABS or PLA-CF for example, I've seen testing where it's not anywhere as strong as regular ABS or PLA. I wonder how the Rapid PETG will compare to regular PETG in some stress tests.

Been using Elegoo's Rapid PETG for a couple of months now, and I've been printing it at 265 with a bed temp of 70 at speeds up to 500mm/s on my N4+, and this stuff does great. Just got a K1 Max this week, and have been using R PETG with it, and it has been even better! The stringing and quality was much better on the K1 Max. I love the Rapid PETG, and haven't really been using much else since you can get it at an amazing price! $45 for 4 rolls is hard to beat.

Thanks great information. Cheap enough will give it a try for sure. Will be curios if it has the same robustness for Environmental issues. A while ago I left some PLA print in the car, lets say they didn't hold up well. I don't buy PLA any more after that, my prints are more for function then looks. Will be interested if you learn more.

I'm having trouble printing my enclosure with PETG on my adventurer 5m. At first it was oozing so i turned it down to 245 and that helped with the oozing, but it is having so much trouble with the supports. They aren't sticking and then the nozzle runs through the filament sticking up from the supports and gets covered in filament. This is causing the guards to look bad as well. Since its printing everything except the supports correct do i just change how the supports are printing? Only a week into printing, just looking for some suggestions.

    • @FigureFeedback

When you say 300mm/s is that inner and outer walls? Orca defines both speeds. I tend to print faster inside then on the outside by +50mm/s on my Neptune 4.

    • @FigureFeedback
      @FigureFeedback  5 місяців тому +1

300mm/s would be for the inner walls and 200mm/s is for the outer walls in Orca. I'm not sure if it's the same thing in FlashPrint since it only shows a base print speed of 300mm/s in that slicer.
