Another awesome guide! Got OrcaSlicer going with my new 5M and being able to send print jobs from my Mac over wifi is great! This whole series on the 5M has been a gold nugget of info - thanks for making these videos.
I just ordered my AD5M as a first 3d printer. I'm going to start with Orca and ignore flashprint. Your video is going to be essential. You earned a sub. Very well done presentation.
@@xtremefps_ very happy with it. It is a great printer and has worked very well for me. Easy to set up and calibrate. Easy to connect to over wifi to directly send models from orca slicer. Once had a filament get stuck and stripped by the extruder gear, but that was due to the filament being tangled over itself on the spool from the manufacturer. Great video, per usual. Your stuff with the A5M is always very helpful. One thing that people seem to take for granted is people understanding why Orcaslicer is better than Flashprint. I've been using Flashprint since I bought the A5M, and it's pretty much done the job I need/want it to do. If you know of anyone that has done a comparison video between them feature-wise?
Thanks for the video. Every time I use orca slicer on my flashforge the nozzle hits the bed messing up the print from the get go. I do not have this problem with flash print. Does anyone have some advice for this?
Thanks for the video. What are the main reasons one may want to switch to Orca from FlashPrint? What functionality do you loose (can camera be used under Orca?, etc)? Thanks for any info.
Great intro video to the Orca software.. though FlashForge must have stopped supplying 2 nozzles with the 5M model, as we only received a 0.4 mm nozzle that came loaded in the extruder. Or perhaps the 5M PRO comes w/ both. Anyway, seems like a cool new hobby. Is the Orca software also used for design/CAD of objects, or do we need another software to create 3D objects and save files for which are loaded to the Orca to slice and save them for the printer to read, interpret and create?
Just curious if you have advice or a link to help me out Im using the 5M i have the .25 nozzle and im using SunLu PLA META im not having much luck with miniature printing the problem im having is the auto tree Slim supports do not come off easily or cleanly the details that dont get destroyed by the supports are nice but the supports kill the miniature. So question . I found a file for example a mug with a heart shaped handle & I only want to print the handle part how can I remove the cup part and not the handle?
Lovely video ,new to printing, just got the printer thanks to your guides...., you mention that lowering layer height will lower the speeds, i mainly wanna print minis and figures, but they always kinda fail. Don't i need to change speed printings accelerations and stuff to achiece something better or just the layer height willl do th e best speeds for me?
Lowering your layer height and decreasing the speed will help with accuracy and the preservation of smaller details. Since you want to do minis, I would also suggest getting the 0.25mm nozzle which will allow you to print at even lower layer heights than the standard 0.4mm nozzle.
I'm considering getting a 3d printer to make shells for electronic projects and things like that and I have narrowed down my search to either the AD5M or the Neptune 4 Pro. Can you recommend one over the other? If you have a different recommendation (in the budget of the 2 printers I mentioned) I'd also love to hear about it! I'm torn between these 2 and hearing from a person who knows their stuff would help me a lot. Thanks!
I recommend the AD5M over the Neptune 4 Pro. I have the Neptune 4 Plus, and my experience with that printer has not been pleasant compared to the Flashforge. The AD5M is much easier to set up, it's faster and has very good print quality. I would also recommend the Bambu Lab A1 which is currently on sale for $299. I think the A1 is a better and more advanced printer than the AD5M.
Great video! One question, I’ve been trying to use Orca Slicer for my AM5 but the printing times are a lot longer when compared to the Flashprint print times. I’ve tried to match the settings as much as possible but still get way higher print times. Is there a way around this? I really like the additional features Orca uses.
That's very odd. If the settings are the same, the print times shouldn't be that different. I would double check to see if you're using the built-in 5M profile in Orcaslicer as well as the same nozzle sizes, filament types and layer heights for both slicers.
Thankyou I've been using cura for over 2 years now with both my ender 3 and anycubic chiron after getting the ad 5m i found i couldn't use it anymore and had no idea what to do next...
Hi do you know where to set the bed temp my flashforh is pre set to 50 when I need it to be at 65 for good adhesion and I could do it on the printer itself however it sometimes will automatically go back to 50 ??
Can you please do an intermediate or advanced guide? I'd really like to play with the speed settings because I haven't managed to print anything of quality at the higher speeds. Also, a user profile settings file would be neat cause I haven't been able to find any online.
What are the differences between Orca & Orca-Flashforge? Yes, I understand that the FlashForge version would be based on a specific Orca version and new additions to Orca probably won't be moved to the FlashForge version over time. Has FlashForge commented on this that you know of? Are there things that Orca-FlashForge does that regular Orca can't? Appreciate any info you can provide. Thanks.
Are there differences in the filaments from different manufacturers? For example, PETG prices can vary considerably from one manufacturer to another. Do the filament settings differ based upon the printer or the filament manufacturer or both?
Yes there can be differences in filament quality and settings based on the manufacturer. Being the cheapest doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad filament, but it's more risky than an established brand that costs a little more. The filament settings can differ depending on your printer. You can print something small just to see how it behaves, then run calibrations if you need to.
How do you calibrate Orca when using a new filament? Do you follow their calibration options? I'm finding that with slower filaments using the generic filament options seems to be printing too fast and results aren't good. In general what't the suggested method for slowing down printing to achieve better results? There seem to be lots of different speed settings. Appreciate any help.
One thing I found with wireless printing it doesn’t have the level check box on the printer like using a usb stick. So far checking that box has made a difference w the few prints I’ve done so far.
Go to the "Prepare" screen in OrcaSlicer and click on the icon to the right of where it says "Printer." The printer selection window will open and you can type in Flashforge. You'll find the 0.25 nozzle checkbox under the 5M printer selection.
I like you r vids are you having a issues with your machine? I have issues with prints just stopping in the middle of a 4hr print and never able to finish. I am thinking FF is not all it is cracked up to be

Have you gotten the remote printer control to work through Orca? I'm able to send files and print using the IP address but the device window says that the IP refused to connect. I'd like to be able to monitor prints with an camera through the slicer.

Type the following link into your browser, and insert your printer's IP address where I've indicated and it should work. your printer's IP:8080/?action=stream

Around 07:05 you make a statement about having the ability to "make tweeks" to the settings per filament to get better prints and then save those as custom profiles that you can use again later. But you don't give any details about what types of things you should be looking for on your prints when complete that would prompt you to make tweeks. And you don't discuss what parameter changes you can make to address issues that you see (I understand those things are probably outside of the scope of this particular video but how would you do this?). What's the best way to learn about the different settings in Orca so you have the ability to properly make these types of tweeks? I have a 5M Pro and am looking to make some changes to parameters to get better prints with specific filament types. Obviously there are tons of different parameters available (even more when switched to Advanced) and would like to gain a better understanding of how I can look for problems areas in my prints (what things should you look for?) and understand how best to adjust certain parameters to increase print quality. I understand there's no simple answer but I would like to get an idea of what my available options are for learning the details of Orca so I can make meaningful adjustments when necessary. How would you recommend someone do this? FYI, I have been printing for a few years (on/off) mostly with Creality machines using Cura and my knowledge is basic/intermediate. Thanks.
Lots of useful information in the video. However, I absolutely cannot stand when people say "I will put a link in the description" and then I go to the description and... NO LINK. Did you forget about the nozzle storage box?
Guilty as charged. Here's the link, you'll have to scroll down the page to find the storage box. wiki.flashforge.com/en/knowledge_corner/printer-mod-and-diy
Orca-slicer is B.S. I have messed with it for 2 months now and have yet to get it to add custom Kingroon filament for flashforge adventure 5m. It always crashes or says I haven't selected a printer or device yet. I am so fed up with flashforge I wanna throw this printer across the room. Don't get me wrong, I am printing like crazy. I can draw the stuff and use their flashprint software but orca slicer just won't work for me on windows 11. #fedupwithorcaslicer, If I select the device tab it just gives me a little video thing.
I was trying to connect my printer via wifi to this software but i could'nt do it. I didn't have any problem with flash print so I wonder what did I missed. Unfortunatelly you don't expplain that here.
Edit: Managed to figure out connection. I was putting in the wrong IP address. I you still need to do this, go to PREPARE -> Click the WiFi symbol to the right of the printer name -> Select "Flashforge" under HOST TYPE -> Enter IP address under HOSTNAME/IP/URL -> Click TEST. (to find IP, open Flashprint, go to TOOLS->MACHINE INFO -> IP ADDRESS) Same issue. Downloaded Orca and there's nothing listed under devices. It just shows me a video telling me to connect a device, but when I tried to follow the video it just fails to connect.

Via USB flash drive. He mentions near the end that Wi-Fi isn't supported in the main Orca slicer builds.
@trizedlyza thank you! Still a lil stuck but would you be willing to help more if i reach out? I have a 700 dollar brick as off right now
Can we use full table???
Hey buddy, do you know how to set up Flashforge Inventor?
I haven't got any experience with that printer, unfortunately.
@@FigureFeedback It's very difficult to find any content about her.
The creality slicer doesn't have full bed, and any printer presets for the printer.
It is not letting me connect through wifi, I have the 2.0 RC downloaded aswell, any help?
contect in flashprint first
That Full bed?? Have you seen the G code?? The code don't have temp 😮
(to find IP, open Flashprint, go to TOOLS->MACHINE INFO -> IP ADDRESS)
Same issue. Downloaded Orca and there's nothing listed under devices. It just shows me a video telling me to connect a device, but when I tried to follow the video it just fails to connect.
I keep getting a error saying server exception connection help please
Update orca then close it and the print should appear under auto
Search
has anyone had it when you go to print it wants to go the other way off the bed
It's great if you can log in.
Online connectivity with these Flashforge printers has been unreliable lately. I can't get the Flash Maker app to work anymore.
Hi Jeremy, great video are you able to send me your ELEGOO Rapid PETG profile
Gyroid infill is good but get ready for your printer to vibrate off the table.
Dang I thought we were going to get to see the helmet
excuse me but white mode is unbearable to watch
