Personally, I don’t think kids should have social media. Kids include high schoolers as well. Too many influences, too much pressure, just too much. Plus all your friends go to your school, what do you need social media for? Go outside child 😂.

I agree. But how do you handle this when all the other kids are on social media? How will your child connect with his/her peers? If no one else is outside.... Like I have a 3 year old but I do think about how we will handle this. I've worked in a high school and those are little cell phone zombies.

@@Selah1423 I can’t give you a straight answer unfortunately. I don’t have any kids so I’m not talking from personal experience. I’d suggest maybe doing sleep overs, game evenings, arcade outing, bowling etc with your child and their friends. It’ll keep them in contact outside of school. That’s what my brother does with his daughter.

@@que6364 You know what? I appreciate your response. It's still important to build that community and facilitate the interactions. Thanks. the older they get, doesn't really mean hands-off.

An important conversation, Jay Shetty recently interview someone who was discussing the correlation between mental health & kids with phone. Great topic and you ladies look beautiful, Felicia looks so stunning today 🫶🏿

Echoing what Felicia said. One of my boys is 8, so definitely not on any social media anytime soon. He is learning to have attitude from “a little show” that is innocent in nature, But some of the characters talk back at their parents. 🙄
We can’t rely on anything they watch to do the parenting. We gotta be hands on

The parent mode can restrict her whatever you want it too. You can set a shutdown time and she’d have to ask for more screen time. You can even log into her settings from your phone. I used that thing until the last day of high school which was this yr. Now she access to everything but I still check in from time to time without saying anything. We have each others location and I think she uses the app more than me. She’ll be 45 minutes away in college starting the end of next month.

We have a really good bond and we talk about anything. She’ll come and ask me whatever or tell me about the tea in school and sometimes I’m not ready but I tell her the truth so she’s knows for herself. Since she was 10 we’ve kept it open and honest and knows about things me hubby (dad) has done and the lessons we’ve learned from getting in trouble. I’ve never hidden anything from her. Plus her cousins are are 3 years older so she learns from them as well good or bad

Love this podcast. Also just want to state that sometimes as a full time stay at home you feel guilty for asking for more help when your partner is working and doing other things for the household. I had to learn this the hard way when I transitioned. And not feeling like I wasn’t holding up my end. Thankfully I have a partner that noticed and helped me navigate a better system when I need a break. But it was hard for me to admit.

Just read something about children and lying as part of cognitive development. Though lying is definitely an ick.

Omg...my daughter just turned 8 and has asked for a phone for over a year. I'm like no ma'am. She has a gizmo watch but that's all I can do right now. I need to get better at locking down the iPad. It so much out here. I have said no to Roblox because I just can't.
