Ones you start living on the land and get used to it it becomes an addiction. Imagine having fruit tress, goats, cows and growing your own crops. That's paradise right there.
Holy moly, I shudder to imagine what your hubby & in-laws are weeding in the almost dry, somewhat infertile fields with scarcely any wilting crops…that’s backbreaking work for very little proceeds from the infertile land…😳!??
Greetings from the Motherland! 🌍Thank you all SO MUCH for the kind and supportive comments on my last video! It is APPRECIATED!! 🖤 Didn't catch Part 1 of this 2023 Village Visit series? Catch the replay here! ➡ ua-cam.com/video/-gsPwQorYuI/v-deo.html
Thanks so much for watching!! 💗💗💗 Yes, I gave birth to my daughter in January 2021 here in Namibia! But I posted an official video about it a few months ago 😊You can check it out here if you'd like! ua-cam.com/video/m2LGyzuJyrs/v-deo.html
As humans, i think our soul thrive in natural. Hence i said in the last video that i go to the north to recharge. Just that walk in the bush. Walk barefoot on sand. Interracting with the people who permanently lives in the village. It's an amazing feeling
I just cant get over how tall Lance has gotten! Lovely video as usual Kaylan and it's nice to see the children experiencing village life. They will cherish these memories!
I remember the video about your first trip up north. It was beautiful and made me appreciate rural African life. I am planning on leaving London eventually and living in a remote off-grid home.
I could relate to Lance.I’m fully Namibian but wasn’t raised in the village..growing up ..when we would visit for holidays I would cry my eyes out every time they would slaughter a goat, cow or chicken..but would enjoy the food when it’s time to eat..and my family would make fun of me.Its a cultural practice in almost all African cultures…lance would understand it all when he’s grown.Him feeling that way also means he’s an empath.
Thank you so much for this reflection!! I really appreciate your perspective on this as a Namibian!💓 It can be difficult for some kids to handle especially when they didn’t grow up around it and he is very empathic as well!
I used to watch her some years ago. I am glad to see her back. It was a treat to watch her again. Her son is so big now and glad to see she has a daughter. Looking forward to more videos.
So, I just stumbled upon one of your videos and, let me say this , you are doing so well, your family is solid. I am from Zimbabwe, not too far from Namibia, but I have been living in Atlanta GA since 2000. My wife is from Miami and we have 3 kids, 14,11and 9. We visit Zimbabwe every so often, every 2 to 3 years. My village is so similar to your husband's and Everytime we go there, my family always have a blast. Keep doing what you are doing, it's the best you can do for the kids.
this is so beautiful and peaceful. please keep us updated on day to day life. my family and I are really enjoy watching your videos and seeing the kids growing up and your husband still camera shy. lol
I watched so many of your old videos and remember the things that used to annoy you about the United States, the jobs, the people, the way of life. Its good to see that Namibia makes you happy.
My oldest is 8 years old (Namibia, we live in Windhoek), my boys would also go on about the slaughtering, but sometimes you can't stop them from witnessing the slaughtering.. you can just help by listening them vent, and try to answer their questions as often as they bring it up.
My all time favourite African ex-pat. I just love your videos and get super excited whenever you post. Funny how Lance has your accent . Does he speak the local dialect?
I loved the fact I saw the books on the seat where Lance was sitting so that your daughter could be read to while on this trip at the house, I am sure that this is a cue from your academic background and teaching, are children's books something that the villages are in need of out there to stimulate and engage their minds, excuse me if this seems an ignorant question but I have sent cases of used books from the library and goodwill where to some other countries in the past.
Love how you noticed this!! 💜💜💜Yes literacy is a major passion of mine actually! So I always have books with us! I teach children how to read/tutor readers having difficulties here as well! Trying to help bridge the literacy divide! And I’m also obsessed with reading myself 🤓📚 My Kindle is my bff here 😩😂 I have also spent a ridiculous amount of money ordering books here off Amazon for my kids but they’ve come in handy for my reading lessons too!! Looking for more affordable ways to build a bigger kids book library collection here 🤞🏾🙌🏾 Yes, there is a pretty small public library in the town near that village and sometimes at schools but there is definitely a need for more books. Even in my town it’s pretty limited so even more so in a rural setting! Great questions!
The land is definitely a flat flood plain. You need to consider a suitable place that is a lil elevated on the plot. Otherwise, your house will be flooded in rainy seasons.
Hey family I'm glad to see you😊😊. I love village life is best. More relaxed though than in town. I and my fiance are also to start such a beautiful life 😂😂😂. I enjoy village moooore💃💃💃. Sorry for your son to go through watching his dad slaughtering a got I can not even watch my son killing a chicken 😂😂😂😂 I will have nightmares 😭😭.
Global warming will hit these places hard. They are already dry, desert-like so I wonder how livable places like Namibia will be in the future? Something not so comfortable to think about............

Exactly, i noticed the kids speak English like their mom. The power of a woman in a Family is mind blowing.
Yes he’s almost as tall as me! 🤯 I can now fit his shoes! Thanks so much for the wonderful comment 💓

I love the village life most of the time.when city life gets too much, I would go to the north as well.walk barefoot and just enjoy the peacefulness

One can tell you are not used to cooking on an open fire by your distance when stirring the pot. 😅
The land is definitely a flat flood plain. You need to consider a suitable place that is a lil elevated on the plot. Otherwise, your house will be flooded in rainy seasons.
Great observation and thank you! 🌧️ According to my husband there’s one area of the land that’s a bit sloped and that’s where the house will go!🤞🏾
I’m glad u are still alive I thought u died coz u were so quiet for so long
I grew up in the rural areas and even I used to walk away when anything bigger than a chicken was killed. Its not a pretty sight.

That’s AMAZING! I have heard stories about her teaching kindergarten! ✨
He will remember the poor animal for the rest of his life. 😢

There are already more frequent drought seasons of recent years here affecting the local crop growth :(
