As a Rwandan - this was a good list of don’ts. I recommend as well - don’t forget Rwanda has been around since the 13th century, there is a lot of History outside of the 1994 Tutsi Genocide. Visit the royal palace, Rwandan history museums, and if you’re invited - definitely go to a wedding if you can they last for days and there are many cultural events. Also on our president, it’s important to note that he’s much more respected than leaders in the west primarily because he was instrumental in stopping the Genocide.

Did the country teleport into existence in the 13th century? Or was that when the Bantus arrived and started killing the first native people of the land (Twa)?
The territory had a history before foreign invaders started to genocide locals. It didn't just pop up a few hundred years ago.

@@ramdas363 Twas were killed by Bantus earlier, when they arrived in Rwanda through the Bantu expansion. I was talking about the Kingdom of Rwanda that was created after all three ethnic groups were in the country, after the Bachwezi or Kitara Empire disentegration. Granted, I believe this happened later however, likely closer to the
15th Century. Twas were in Rwanda from the 5th-11th Century, the Hutus arrived between 11th-13th Century and the Tutsis arrived likely in 14th Century. Twas of course had a culture/civilisation prior to the arrival of Hutus and Tutsis, but the Kingdom of Rwanda as its known historically, with its clanic system etc included all 3 ethnic groups.

@@ramdas363 There was actually a lot of coexistence with the BaTwa and not the picture you paint of mass murder. Due to their vastly different mode of subsistence, there was opportunity for trade and all sorts of cross-cultural exchange. Migration was gradual and slow. The continuation of migration of Bantus spanning millenia.

Don't hesitate to visit Rwanda. It's a beautiful country and the Rwandans are very respectful and friendly. Hotels in Kigali are clean and modern, the food is good and the weather's nice. Plenty of rain for us Brits! On my second visit, the passport guy at the airport said "Welcome back". That's never happened anywhere else.

Rwanda is called "The country of thousand hills."
In another hand, it may also be called "The country of thousand lies."
Just imagine, the former president of Rwanda Mr. Paul Kagame passed away 2 years ago, instead of announcing his death, they make a mask of his image from Germany, then they gave it to a comedian who used to imitate Paul Kagame's voice, and immediately they changed the original official photo of Paul Kagame and they announced the new masked photo as the official photo, so that no one should compare both photos of the president!!!
And what this man doesn't know which was supposed to be added to these don'ts, is that WHEN YOU ARE IN RWANDA, DON'T SAY THAT THE FORMER PRESIDENT PAUL KAGAME PASSED AWAY.

Thank you for this. Recently I heard an european reporter interviewing Rwanda's president and she was still asking about questions about the genocide as if it was still happening today. He was beside himself about the ignorant of western media. The fact that a developing country already made single use plastic bags illegal and how clear their streets are, is a lesson we all should learn NOW in North America. We go around and lecture the world about climate change but we are the ones that greenwash things. We just have to do better.

Well, but it's understandable. Consider how much/often the Holocaust is discussed in Europe, the number of movies about the war, about resistance movements, ... the newspaper articles, remembrance days, etc. So, based on this, and given that the Rwandan genocide is more recent, the reporter may have assumed the genocide is a big topic in Rwanda.

I spent a month in Kenya last summer and visited Ugunja, Kisumu, Nairobi and Malindi. I really enjoyed my stay and I got treated very well. One thing that bothered me, however, was that wherever we went, the streets and ditches were littered with garbage!
Plastic bags are illegal in Kenya also (aswell as littering) but there doesn't seem to be anyone cleaning the streets. There also aren't any public trash cans...
I think if Kenya would implement better waste treatment procedures, like Rwanda, the country would be so much more attractive for tourists. The whole of Africa could learn from Rwanda I think.

Great to see Mark and fam out on the road! This episode is especially helpful, because this country looks like a great destination, but a lot of travelers who have only been to Europe might be used to making fewer preparations.

If you do, like many citizens who said it such as Mrs. Idamange Yvone Iryamugwiza, the RUDA OPPOSITION PARTY, Mr. Barafinda Segikubo Fred, and many more,... you will be put in prison.
Just type in UA-cam : "Ndahiro David speaking like president Kagame." You will see the name whom I'm talking about who is wearing the mask of President Kagame's image.

Rwanda is a prosperous, safe, well-governed & modern nation. And also one of cleanest countries in the world. It has a cool climate & is the Switzerland of Africa. But only 2% of the population is Moslm. 94% of the population is Christian. About time they took in lots of Moslm refugees. Let the Moslm rafoojees enjoy the prosperity of the most successful nation in Africa. Let those Afghans, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Syrians, Libyans, Yemenis, Moroccans, Algerians, Somalis, Sudanese, Pulustinians & Iraqis turn Rwanda into another Sweden. This is the part of the Wyt Progressive agenda. Dstroy any successful & affluent African nation & make us dependent on them. Bravo UK. Good plan 👍🏿

I was going to post a snarky comment but thought I might just watch and see what the deal is and I am sold. The cleanliness is extremely vital to me and my enjoyment when visiting with my time and money. Well done sir

Rwanda is one of the best places to visit, good video. It's just about the miracle of our time considering it was the tragedy of our time (now over 25 years ago, but still recent). Being respectful should go without mention, but good points.
