    Lozi is more into Sotho than Tswana,I discovered that in 2022 when I toured the Western Province of Zambia and it’s Capital Mongu which is named the Barotseland,history says in 1823 pressure caused one group of the Basotho(Kololo ) of the now South African Free state to migrate after being defeated by the Zulu of Mzilikazi,they the moved past the Okavango swamps across the Zambezi into the Barotseland which is now part of Zambia upon which they found and conquered the Luyana language which gave rise to today’s Lozi language spoken by the Lozi people descendants of Luyana and nearby tribes.The Kingdom stretched into Namibian Caprivi,Angola,lower Zimbabwe and the Katanga Province of DRC.I am from Botswana and have stayed at Lesotho I so dwelt with ease through use of Sotho.

      The Lozi lied to you. The so-called Lozi kingdom never stretched farther than Senanga in Western province. The rubbish they told you about it stretching into Zimbabwe and Congo is because when the English wanted to loot the Copperbelt of Zambia, they got the Lozi chief to sign the contract authorising them to do so. Now that they are not happy with Zambia, they are talking about seceding from the country. However, the part of the country that belongs to them is tiny, devoid of resources and would not be able to sustain then. As a result, they are laying claim to a wide area of people who do not even know that they exist, who outnumber them, and are not interested in their secessionist fantasies.

I often visit Rustenburg to see my cousins, and you may know that there's a larger population of Tswana speakers in the North West Province than in Bots. The only notable difference is the dialect spoken by Pedi/Sotho in the province. The food, culture, and traditional attire are all the same, so being in Rustenburg feels just like being in Botswana.

      1) Same thing exists everywhere, not only in Africa. You can find several examples of this also in Europe and Asia. This is because all countries of the world are artificial man-made constructions in which people were forced into by their leaders. But mind you, this wasn't different in the ancient times. Colonization didn't start with the white man coming to Africa. You can be colonized by people of your own race. This is what happened in Europe. Belgium and the Netherlands were once colonized by Spain, Britain was once colonized by France, Ireland and Scotland were and are still colonized by Britain, etc. I know that whites don't use the term "colonization" when they are talking about themselves and they reserve this term for non-white people.
      2) Populations who speak the same language are not necessarily related. For example, people who speak French in Belgium, Switzerland, Canada, Senegal, etc, aren't related. This applies also to people who speak Tswana in SA, Namibia, Zambia. Languages or religions propagate with migrations, trades or conquests.

    • @eltonmombeshora6183
      @eltonmombeshora6183 20 днів тому

      @@Jazz-fg2dmYes, I agree with you for most of the part. Just a slight difference on point #2. People who speak the same language are not necessarily related, yes just like most of the world uses English but have no consanguinity. However, originally prior to migration, trade and all these factors, people of the same kin shared the same language before their population grew and spread out. Eg english is originally from Germanic tribes. Just like how Bantu languages in Southern Africa are spoken in different countries(defined by colonial borders) but the people in those different countries share common roots prior to recent colonization and Bantu migration that happened a time ago. Hence my point that most of these native Africans who speak the same language are of the same ethnicity.

      @@eltonmombeshora6183
      >>However, originally prior to migration, trade and all these factors, people of the same kin shared the same language before their population grew and spread out.
      When exactly was that period "prior to migration"? There are two things that humans are very good at and which they have been doing ever since they appeared on this earth, and that is, "procreating" and "migrating". We have no way of determining any time in the past when people started migrating. Anything you hear from scholars about this topic is just a guess. Alternatively, you could try to determine the lineage of people by studying their genetic material. But even this is not reliable considering that people have been mixing and procreating with one another for millions of years. So the concept of "pure race" has no meaning because there is no such a thing among humans. We are all mixed.

    • @eltonmombeshora6183
      @eltonmombeshora6183 20 днів тому

      True, we cannot accurately determine historical periods. However, the point is that you can identify strong correlations between an ethnic group and language + culture if you trace back their history. For example, English was mainly spoken by English tribes prior to colonization. However, today English is spoken by most people including those who are of non-English descent but that doesn’t change that the native English people (Anglo Saxons, Anglo-Celts etc..) have the same roots just like we Bantu people who speak the same language but live in different countries defined by colonial borders share the same roots.

    The Babirwa people originated from Transvaal in South Africa. They settled in the Tuli Block area in Botswana, which is separated from South Africa by the Limpopo River. The Babirwa people populate the Bobirwa Subdistrict in Botswana.
    The Babirwa language is called sebirwa, which is a Sotho dialect. Sebirwa is a heavy dialect of Sotho, especially Sepedi mixed with a little Tshivenda.
    The Babirwa people moved from Nareng under their chief, Tshukudu, to the Blauwberg area. Some Babirwa moved to Bobonong around 1916 after being told that the land now belonged to BSAC. Ref: Africa tribes

    The concept of a Protectorate denotes a region under the control of a foreign country, frequently evolving into a colony. The East African Protectorate, encompassing territories such as Kenya, Zanzibar, Tanganyika, and Uganda, emerged as a pivotal historical development. This administrative framework was instituted in the aftermath of the insolvency of the Imperial British East African Company (IBEAC), the preceding governing entity. The IBEAC's bankruptcy prompted the transition to the Protectorate, leading to the consolidation and eventual merging of certain regions within the broader East African landscape.

There's amaXhosa tribe found in several locations like Mahalapye xhosa1 & 2, Bikwe, Rakhuna, Ditshana, Otse, Manyana, Moshupa, Mankgodi. The leader of the opposition coalition in Botswana UDC uMhlekazi Duma Gideon Boko is one the prominent Xhosa people in Botswana look him up. Then there's Amandebele tribe found in Francistown, Mahalapye & Rakhuna. Also there's Basotho tribe found in Rakhuna & Tlhare Seleele. All this tribes that I have mentioned above migrated from South Africa some during the Mfecane wars and others during the Boer trek and settled in what is now called Botswana batswana included also. There's also Bakalanga tribe found in Francistown they speak iKalanga it's not setswana but closely related to the Shona language. Also Bayei tribe, Herero tribe and more that I have not mentioned.

    A) is death penalty still a law? B) I heard there's no chesa nyama because people must respect time with family than socialising?

      it says as of 1 April 2024 Botswana has not yet abolished that law.
      B) I'm not sure why there isn't a Chesa Nyama maybe it's because of what you said but I'm not sure about this one.
      C) Education in Botswana is free for the first 10 years, which completes the cycle through middle school. The first 7 years of this are at primary school, where the pupil-teacher ratio is approximately 13 to 1.The medium of education is Setswana for the 1st 4 years, thereafter English.
      D) See the following; fastercapital.com/content/Start-a-business-in-Botswana.html

    One notable example is the Manyana Rock Shelter in Botswana, which is not in South Africa but shares cultural similarities with Tswana architecture. This site features circular stone structures believed to have been inhabited by the ancestors of the Tswana people over a thousand years ago. However, in South Africa, there are likely similar ancient circular dwellings scattered throughout regions historically inhabited by Tswana communities, but specific examples would require archaeological investigation or local knowledge.

That is why today when you get to Bobonong , the Babirwa capital this side of Botswana , it is like Bapedi trying to speak Sengwato. @@leceei guess you got stumped. it is very important when you do your research,assuming you did.dont just rely on conventional history books and political science text,you must go back to original sources. It does require a bit of effort,because most of the material is junk.there are guides that can you hints about where to look,and sometimes you will references in secondary sources and often they are misinterpreted.real research is always a collective activity, and its results can make a large contribution to changing consciousness ,increasing insight and understanding.basically the gist is more reading will broaden your capacity

      Does it really matter whether the source is white or black? I mean if it’s a good source then great but if it’s a bad source then let’s correct it but for the most part we don’t produce as much as other races when it comes to certain spaces and if that’s the case perhaps borrowing learnings isn’t so terrible as long as the information is true. If it isn’t true then okay I’ll be happy to learn. I find that focussing on the pointer and not the point is quite anti-progressive.
