Hi Luis, I’m sure you are very happy with the Polestar 2. The car is very easy to love. The drive is really enjoyable. Do you miss anything at all about the i3 besides the efficiency?
@@lavalabs the i3 has more window area. The visibility is great, the higher up seating position, and the interior colors, reclaimed wood and types of naturals makes the i3 a more vivid inside. The polestar have too much dark plastics. The i3 was/is way too advance as a design.
@@Luis-jd5ds I 100% agree with you on all fronts. I love the visibility and the reclaimed wood especially. However I do think the Polestar 2 with the longer range and size is a bit more practical and a great electric car overall.
I am super excited for Polestar 3. The guys at Washington DC polestar space will let me know as soon as they have one on the show floor. I will immediately make a video.
I'm a Volvo guy so I know Polestar well. Polestar is just basically a spin-off of the performance packages offered on Volvo in an electric vehicle. What I like is the performance, suspension in terms of handling, seat comfort, very solid build structure and I guess the infotainment works well. One pedal drive seems well integrated. What needs work is a bit of ride compliance in the most sporty versions and the range is being improved with OTAs but not class leading. I wish some safety features came standard, the packages get pricey. Polestar 2 isn't a ground-up EV. Polestar 3 will be. The interior will change a lot so those that don't like the center console, it's going away. The new car will be more open. And the screen size will increase. Range will improve as well as efficiency and the interface will be updated significantly. But price will be high. Polestars will be expensive. Thanks for the fun review.
I agree with you on the safety features. I do wish they came standard but I think they put them into the pilot package so people buy the pilot package even though the self driving is not there yet. Hopefully with OTAs they can get the self driving to improve and they can make the safety features standard for everyone. Personally I cannot wait for Polestar 3 to come out. When I talk to the guys at Washington DC space they told me it will be built in the US most likely in South Carolina. From the limited information we have and the one photo they released the car looks amazing!
Yes, Polestar 3 will be bigger and more open design. But, it’ll be significantly more expensive than the 2; the Polestar 3 prices will be in the $70K range.
Somun, I hear you, so what would you call the gauge cluster that is an lcd based screen that has a map fully covering it giving you turn by turn directions?
@@lavalabs Typically, a Heads Up Display (HUD) refers to a projection onto the windshield glass so the driver does not need to look down and can look through the display to the road. The Polestar 2 (unlike a Tesla Model 3) has a full screen as the Driver's Display that goes where the typical gauge cluster would be. BTW, great video. I bought my '21 Launch Edition (Dual Motor Long Range) without the Performance Pack about 16 months ago and am still loving it! One other small correction - with the new CarPlay update, you can get Apple Maps (or any other CarPlay info) in the main IT screen, but the driver's display will still only show Google Maps.
@@ScottLeapman thank you for heads up on the Apple Maps. We did only use Google Maps on the test drive and I assumed they will have Apple Maps in the instrument cluster too but I guess not. However I think Google maps works amazingly in there.
@@lavalabs I'm an iPhone user and for the past year+ I've been using the native AAOS since CarPlay was not yet available. Now that I have CarPlay, I'm not using it as much as I expected since the native AAOS and other native apps are that good :-).
Gas prices are pretty ridiculous. However there are so many more reasons than just gas to consider this car. With that said I would buy it if I wasn’t considering the electric truck I’m reviewing currently in the video coming out by the end of this week or early next week.
Have one of these on order for delivery at the end of this month, currently driving an i3s, is the driving position a lot lower with the Polestar and how is the comfort when driving? I’m in two minds whether to cancel and go for the Model Y and completely torn.
love the i3! Polestar 2 is closer to model 3 than model Y in size. so if you need the extra space model Y is definitely bigger. Have you done a test drive of Polestar 2, Tesla model y and or model 3?
Nice video , I replaced my i3 Rex for a Polestar 2 LRDM and I cannot be more happier! More range, way faster, quicker, not as efficient as the i3.

Wonderful video. You can get the performance pack upgrade and it boosts hp to 480 vs the 408. Polestar 3 SUV reveal in October.

Mine, LRDM w/ Pilot Magnesium color, hopefully arrives by October 🤞
I think you’re gonna be very happy with your long range dual motor. Magnesium colors really cool too. Let’s us know when your thought when you get it!
The new trend of 21 century, sales man doesn't KNOW what is the product they are sale.
The sales guys did know a lot about the Polestar 2. They were great actually.

Heads up display is not what you think it is :) It's not on these cars.
