I just placed an order for the '23 Model year Polestar 2...and I would like to see if you could issue a follow up video on the different packs they have (if you have a couple of them), brake consumption, brake consistency, tire wear over time and miles, pilot assist usage and impact on battery life, and whatever else might shed light on the true value of the addon packages. I think it would be a good opportunity to really highlight the amenities and how they all contribute to the overall efficiency and quality of life feel on the Polestar... I haven't seen anything like this highlighted yet and I would do it... But I won't have my car until September (can't wait) and would like to know if they're even worth having. Either way, great video and thanks for the insights.
Good review, nice car. I recently did test drive from polestar dealership in Sydney. 1st impressions were great where we decided to hire the polestar 2 for a couple of days through Hertz to get better feel longer distance. Overall we were not disappointed but a few areas which could be better but not necessary a deal breaker from our perspective. 1. The indicated range on the car was 540 km but we never got higher than 390km when fully charged, couldn’t be sure but we suspect the car was standard 2 wheel front drive, not the extended range battery or all wheel drive. Also interesting when charging recommendation on charge display to charge up to 90% to preserve battery, so guess that further restricts range compared to laboratory test figure’s therefore real world figure at best was 390kms. For the car given it’s size the driver an passenger front seats although comfortable should have more space where centre console between seats cramped the driver & passenger which gave the feeling of being hemmed in. The car we had with sunroof was nice but lack of headroom entering & exiting the vehicle was annoying where you had to duck to avoid hitting head, me being 5’8 that shouldn’t have been a problem. Lastly no idea why but high transmission/ raised section on floor middle of back seat, kind of got in the way, not sure why that was there ! Overall still the car was still really good but before shelving out around $85k on road you would still want to address usability and ergonomics, that said the car and quality was top notch. Still serious about buying but in that price range got to do homework. Ps polestar bringing out updated model year end 23, rear wheel drive and longer range so not really worth buying before unless it’s I want now. Hope this helps anyone looking.
I test drove the Polestar 2 Long range Single motor and Dual Motor variants last Saturday, tried the Model 3 Long Range Dual Motor last week Friday. I'm also looking at buying an electric car in that price category, right now for me it's between the Model Y and the Polestar 2 with the Polestar 2 being at the top of my list. What about you, made a purchase yet? The Polestar 2 2022-2023 model by the way is built on the same chassis as the XC40 and therefor has a transmission tunnel taking up space in the back. That's one of the negatives about the Polestar 2: less foot space in the back compared to the Model 3 and Y. But the Polestar 2 is way more quiet on the road (less wind and tire noise), steering felt more natural (Model 3 felt like a videogame, disconnected), springs and dampers were set up better on the Polestar 2, acceleration is better set up on the Polestar 2 (more progressive, the Model 3 felt a bit nervous and jumpy especially with the regenerative braking), love the drivers display although I don't mind looking at the center display on the Model 3 for driving information.. Still undecided, going to try the Model Y around the end of this month
I love the channel, keep up the hard work. Just some feedback on a viewers point: I always find most of the review videos like this don’t sound scripted ( It feels as if they making up as they go ) or if some one asks a question maybe add a screen shot in or if there is a camera person you could ask them to ask the question
Have you adjusted the Ohlins dampers? Supposedly they are set to 8 clicks from factory but if you want even more comfort then you can increase the number of clicks (measures from fully closed i.e. turned all the way clockwise) to about 18 (out of a maximum of 22) and it makes the ride more plush.
Is the glass roof worth the extra price? As a driver do you get to enjoy it or is it more luxury feature for the passengers. I was thinking of adding rolls Royce type stars on the ceiling if I don’t go with the glass roof.

There is no head-up display on the Polestar 2 and there is no 'premium' package, either. It is the Plus package. Also, Apple Car play is supposed to be coming this year with an OTA.
It’s a launch edition car same as mine. The pilot pack and plus pack are standard on the launch edition. Oh and there’s no head up display. I think he means it has an instrument panel in the dash. This one’s a demonstrator of course. It’s a owners review from a non-owner lol

Being in a fridge, is a lot different than being in a freezer. If I leave your fully charged car in -20ºC like today in Ottawa Canada, how much charge will I have left after 24 hours parked in the street? This is why they don't sell as many up here. Even my Toyota hybrid has a hard time keeping the cabin warm with its small gas engine! It's just too damn efficient!
And an electric car won't have that problem. Any engine, no matter what it burns, takes forever to heat up. Also, if it's just parked, it won't lose any charge, they tend to not heat anything unless you ask for it. A plug in hybrid will have a teensy battery to get a pittance of range, it isn't using that power for much of anything else. I regularly reach those kinds of temps here in eastern Germany and I have zero problems with my Model 3. I defrost it for about 10 minutes before leaving for work, after which the cabin will be sitting at around 25-28 C with the windows clear and the battery warmed up enough to actually deliver some regen breaking. Off the grid, that takes around 7-8 per cent charge in the standard range Model 3, I usually do it with mains power to keep the battery charged. Much better winter car than any of my previous combustion vehicles, to include my last BMW with the auxiliary heater. I had to run that for much longer in the morning to see any kind of effect.

Nothing goes active or is heated when it's not in use or actively called for by the user. The only regular drain occurs when the system wakes up for communication purposes, and that does not include any heating. Now, if you leave sentry mode on, which prevents the car from "going to sleep" the drain will be higher, but even then it will not drain the entire battery within 3 days, since no heaters are being used, especially since most comfort functions turn off if SoC reaches 20% anyway.

@@piconano Yeah....no. I don't need to Google since I can look at it on my own car, but even if I do, I find plenty of information that the battery will not be dead. I tried and sat down in a Polestar in the local shopping mall. Immediately, I knew this car was not meant for me: the center concole is far too wide, takes up too much space. I felt like I entered a fighter jet, cramped (from side to side, not front to back). If you check out the accessories you can get on these, it includes a heads up display for bifocal wearers, plus additional essential storage for bus passes and Werthers Originals.
Tom, are you going to put the car into storage until you retire? Just asking.
You are pretty content with yourself I presume?
Lmao love the bird shit on the roof
Authentic init
“Hey Google… has a long enough barge pole been invented for me to buy a car that’s centred on Google?”
408 HP after the update.
now was it the left eye or the right eye. That was punched by your Girlfriend for saying SHE made the mess in the car. along with the dogs.
for the dogs in the back you could buy a back seat dog cover and that may help with keeping clean.
Jeez, stop saying Hey Google. LOL
Are you so trusty that you have to state in title that is a honest opinion?🤣🤣🤣
its gold not yellow. the seat belt and the brakes
Try a 2 hour drive. I get crippling sciatica, my partner same so it’s not just me and it always happens. I had a Bmw 530e prior and never had any issues, in fact could drive all day. This is my only complaint but a big issue actually.
Sounds like you whistle weenies.
Thanks for triggering my Google speaker 10 times during the video :(
Sound level is low.
Love the editing! Shame about the lack of carplay, would’ve been a way more interesting prospect otherwise
According to Polestar Apple CarPlay will be added in Spring 2022. We’ll see
Terrible review of a great car.. know your stuff man!!!!!
Great content, but I really wish you’d mute the ‘hey google’ audio as it wakes my google home speakers! I’m sure that’s the same for others!
👍😎
if only it had nothing to do with china. it's about the best looking ev.
Found a Sam Hyde fan, cool
£55k no Apple car play 😂, my cheap MG even has both. PS £55k is a lot of money, what.
Dogs and girl friend in car daily 😅
I must say short video clips are quite annoying;;
🍊
Did the girlfiend watch it? :)
Yep really makes me want to get one NOT
Badass Brembo brakes are a must when the invincibles sporting earbuds step off the curb expecting EV drivers to stop on a dime! Wish Apple was an option!
Why are you carrying what looks like a cup of coffee during the first part of the video? Perhaps if you gave 100% of your attention to the car, the content would be watchable.
You’re an Apple Car Play fiend and you bought a car with a Google based infotainment system? Cash - £5k is a lot to many people (cost of living crisis, etc). Crashy - to praise it as less crashy than an i3S is like saying you tell less lies than Boris Johnson.
My google home was listening and answered your questions!
You seriously just discovered Google?
😠 P"R"O"M"O"S"M!
i like the car , but i would not get it it as its very inneficient. model 3 is much more efficient. plus its too expenisve for the range you get
I was thinking that. Btw Tesla are massively successful EVs yet not known for their build quality, so I really didn’t understand his point on build quality being necessary for EVs. As you point out, efficiency is rather more important.
A foggy Chinese car.
Go pros and a low battery level meant that I didn’t use the climate as much as I’d like. Clever clogs
Swedish.
@@dynestis2875 Some time ago.
The most uninformative video in a long time. Also most pointless.
Polestars are absolutely shite, better off buying a KIA and saving a fortune with a 7 year warranty
Ugliest electric car ever!
The car offers value for money, but it's 100% Chinese and for that reason i wouldn't buy it.
It's swedish...
