35:49 "I even like the white and gold checkered floor." I see more black and blue than white and gold... and now I'm reminded of that dress fiasco years ago where people couldn't decide if it was white and gold or black and blue.
Lunar Lakes is so not my usual aesthetic, but it has some of the most unique and interesting builds that you just don't see anywhere else in the Sims 3. Plus the landscape and light there is crazy beautiful. It's clear that you love this world and had a lot of fun reviewing it! Also, I played Lars Royal recently, the guy who lives in Depot Home. He actually DID steal all the stuff in his house! He's a kleptomaniac, a daredevil, and a mooch, and his bio talks about his love for "collecting". I love that he has like fifteen chairs and couches purely for the heck of it.
it is really interesting, i think it's a whimsical concept grounded in a loose reality, and it's perfect for the sims and especially building i loved that he has the dumpsters right in his house, you could dive for more things right away and go shower after
yes there was a little too much sand, i agree... they could have electrified it up a little more, at least the shells are (for the most part) pretty good
I took a class on microbiology as part of my degree and I think Leeuwenhoeks hole is based on a scientist named Anton van Leeuwenhoek. From memory I think he was the first to look at cells or bacteria under the microscope, but idk how it relates to the house
Thank you for a shout out of my video about flooring! Really appreciate it! 😁 I think Lunar Lakes are so out there and I think most of the time the EA builders actually go out of their comfort zone, for the exteriors at least.
@@Rekowcski I saw, .. I started my sims journey with Sims 2. It will always have a special place for me. I don't get to watch your live video but I do try to catch you. I am playing Sims 3 right now. I am doing the For the Realm Challenge. I am loving it.
Your hatred of the giraffe statues is so funny to me because yeah, I do know someone who keeps giraffe figures on their shelves. Collecting stuff with a Specific Animal is like, so incredibly common. My dad owns an unreasonable amount of bald eagle stuff, multiple of which are mirrors for some reason. My mom is obsessed with zebra everything. Every windowsill in my grandma's house is lined with little squirrel figurines. I've accidentally begun collecting sea turtle stuff the last few years and now my phone case and my luggage tags match the carved stone turtles on the shelves above my bed. Almost everyone knows at least one person who is absurdly into cat things. If I walked into a house and saw a bunch of gold giraffe statues I'd just think, "oh cool they'll be easy to buy gifts for."
28:48 The wicker walls give me SUCH castaway vibes. I would absolutely love it for an island survival hut type of deal. It feels SO out of place on Lunar Lakes.
I guess at It's core Lunar Lakes is just a scifi castaway story. I think the mix of old and new styles is a mix of using what they already had and making new things, which you touched on with the new furniture and old tv. It just doesn't work as well in some places. If they wanted a house with walls woven from alien fibers, they should have gone all out. Ditched the metal shell and made it a full on "rebelling against the industrial" type place. Maybe matched it's colors to the wood of the alien trees, even if that would have bee ugly. Commit to the theme!
30:02 I FORGOT ABOUT THIS THING. I don't understand why the roof is green. That does not make me think of cakes or frosting at all. And why are the outer walls so plain? Where is the piping? Whoever built this is a terrible baker.
An interesting take on the Layer Cake as a theme could have been making it a roommate situation, or even just a very divided family - or like, full on apartments. Each layer very clearly decorated and mostly inhabited by a different Sim, with like, some core staples throughout each to hold it together. Like when you make an apartment building and they all have the same base appliances and walls, because those come with the apartment, but the decor is wildly different in each.
Oh, Pandora's Pavillion specifically is all wicker, wood, and old because they're farmers. They probably built it all themselves. Kara's a handy sim. So, there's at least a story reason that it's gross? Also you didn't mention there being two separate beds but it's like that because the married couple living there hate each other, because they're both terrible people who are dreaming and scheming for fame and fortune, but are pretending not to be evil to each other. Which is hilarious.
I like wickery and color palette in Field House. It gives me Indiana Jones vibes, I would only add more plants to be honest. My favorite house in Lunar Lakes is probably the heart shaped one, but I don't remember all of them.
21:40 I believe that boxing those pillars off would create a performance issue since it's an extra room where sims could technically get stuck with no way out and it would be prone to lot of bugs
ahhh, i've never been a fan of futuristic sci-fi themes but watching you review this world was still some great 45 minutes of entertainment, and honestly now i started to admire this world a little more, and became excited to see oasis landing in the future as well!! while watching this, i actually came up with a theory, why EA might be using so much green... well... what if they try to include some hidden meaning behind that? because when your sims are happy, their plumbon is green 🥴 they might've been trying to implicate the same happiness into us so we keep playing and playing for hours, giving them our cash 😭 the execution just never went as good as they might've thought...

those two are perfect for each other, the kitchen and bathroom stuff alone is enough to bring this stuff up a level... i also notice on the store there is a futureshock set and it looks great for lunar lakes
I decided to do an apocalypse challenge in Lunar Lakes. I had to go into nearly every home to add space for more than one sim. Many of the larger homes still have only one bedroom. It's a shame, because the exteriors are all really interesting. Love the world and the Martianesque canals. Really wish this world had come out after ITF so it could have utilized some of the build/buy from there. Despite having to do house surgery, still like the world.
PD: lunar lakes is my third favorite world in TS3 I love it so much, so I always re-design all the lots, and I use the futuristic stuff of TS3 showtime because I love that sci-fi decor more than the super flat futuristic furniture of the sims into the future I actually don't use a single item of into the future because I like the hard mode hahaha

Having watched the video, my only real disagreement is with the wicker. I think its actually with the theme to use wicker because when they crashed they would need to utilize natural things to supplement their supplies and I thought using wicker worked for that kind of thing. Also with some of the other pattern choices, I get it, nostalgia for what they lost trying to incorporate a pattern that they don't understand anymore after generations, again kinda works for me because of the concept. Now, I don't like how it was implemented but...
