I agree. It is good to help family; even financially, in certain circumstances, but the best way to help them is to educate them. Another wise saying we have in regard to this is: "If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach him how to fish, you feed him for a lifetime." Good video!😊
@web4cad, they dont do that (teaching them how to fish for themselves) in PH. When that would/will happen, it is considered an insult, offensive. And that must be avoided at all cost in PH. In PH, like the girl in the video stated, "we dont ask questions". And that is why PH will remain and stay a 'poor, 3rd world country" for many decades to come. Their own culture will keep them poor. Plus the fact that the (Roman-) Catholic church is still very powerfull and has lots of political influence in PH, makes it a country that will hardly develop into a modern, progessive, prosperous country. PH kids are not taught (by their PH parents) to be critical. Because criticism is frowned upon and goes against hiya and almost all other concepts of the PH culture
I'm 62 years old - If I were married to a Filipina who has children I would make sure all her kids received a good college education - I would NOT be giving money to everyone in her family especially to her brothers and sisters who are half my age - I would help her parents in an emergency - Get the children educated and that will end the poverty in the family - Don't be a life time ATM.
That’s a great and it makes perfect sense, but I’m with Rockettrob above. Have you considered all possible outcomes. I know of 2 sisters that quit college after 2 years, and the 3rd sister is now talking about quitting.
Since I have lived in the Philippines myself, I find the bum gun to be a great way to clean yourself. It's definitely more hygienic. However I always take baby wipes with me whenever I go anywhere just in case no bum gun is available. Tabo isn't for me.
I'm an American who has been using toilet paper my whole 59 yrs of my life. I live in the PH and now I use soap and water to clean myself. It took a few weeks to get use to it, but I feel much cleaner now. Salamat to the Filipino people 😁.............
You are a very wise lady. The Phillipines have done you proud. I have some friends from the Phillipines and you really help me to understand them. I always saw the bucket, and never knew what it was for! Etc....May God bless you.
Wow Mia, glad to see your videos again… you guys are so fortunate to have each other… I have finally arrived in Philippines and hope I’m a fortunate as Paul 🥰. Continued good luck you guys 👍🏽
Be careful out there - While I know there are good ones, I am grateful that I avoided a scammer and its the videos by Mia and Paul that gave me the signs to look for, and they nailed the signs right down to an exact science! It made me think that maybe I can't be bothered with relationship and just have friends and just hook up for fun as needed :)
Thanks Mia, you had me crackin up with the toilet paper! I'm here on you tube cos i was married 5 years to a Filipina here in the US, but are now in an LDR with my sweetheart from Olongapo. Yes! I am very curious!🤣I got over the Tabo thing quickly, but there's just so much that mystifies me still. I too have to rein in MJ's spending, but try to do it with kindness...no one likes to hear "No". But budgeting is very important. I'm Puerto Rican so our cultures are similar but I was very frustrated at 1st traveling there. So many questions n no straight answers! Oy! hehehe I'm learning tho...watching more, asking less. Your videos help alot! You are a lovely person n Paul is a lucky guy. Please keep the videos coming..
Good video. In the west some of us still take care of our parents. Mine can't work due to Lupus and can't afford to live on her own so she lives with me. I don't go broke taking care of her though. I have my own goals that I need to save for and that is my #1 priority. One of the cultural things here that is probably alien to Filipino people is that most men take care of our wife and kids first. It's our main priority to make sure they have what they need.
Excellent commentary you are great at discussing what we all what to here. Keep on discussion of life with a Philippina. I want to hear how to to date and find a true woman from the Philippines. Continue to be liberal on your intimate discussion of relationships. You are intelligent and breakthrough norms.
Mai, I really liked your honesty in the video. I know there are cultural differrences and the age gap. But from what I see, you love each other. That's what matters. I think people lack the "complexity of thought" that, yes, with an age gap you can REALLY love and be connected. You are beautiful.... I hope your husband tells you every day. But it's more than that, and he knows it, you understand life... it's THAT makes you shine.
I was raised a toilet paper user. I have been converted to using soap and water whenever the option is available, because it's so much cleaner and fresher feeling. But for most of my life, it never even occurred to me to use anything other than toilet paper. Culture has a powerful influence.
I used to think Bidet or bum guns would just blast the $hit all over and sometimes it does do that so what I find best is to use TP first and then the gun and even TP after. In the USA us Costco members buy baby wipes and use that instead. No need for butt hole gun blaster😆
I'm European, but at some point in my life, many years ago, I started to wash myself too (with soap) after using toilet paper. I don't remember how exactly it happened, but I also find it weird nowadays that people here just smear poop with paper and call it "clean", haha. Can you imagine you touched poop with your hand, and then you just rub your hand with a piece of paper and call it done? Although I don't want to pose as someone who is ultra hygienic... I actually don't even shower every day during the winter, and I can easily wear an underwear for many days if I don't have to go anywhere (tbh it doesn't get that dirty during the cold period of the year). 😅
I completely agree with the shock you must have felt over the whole toilet paper thing. I still can’t believe that over 80% of Americans still use toilet paper as a primary means of cleaning themselves - crazy. I remember posing a question to some people that I was talking to about it - many of them were acting like it was ridiculous to clean with water (let alone soap and water) after each bowel movement)… the question was, “if you had poop smeared on your arm, would you be simply content to wipe it away with toilet paper?” Of course not! In fact - you’d probably be scrubbing your arm far longer than actually necessary to clean it away ‘just to be sure’. So, WHY treat your backside to any less of a cleaning??
It was funny during the pandemic that there was a panic run on the toilet paper. People don't realize that they can just do things the real old fashioned way. Don't worry, most foreigners will come around and get on board with the bidet or a sprayer over time. The same with showering as frequently, keeping their breath fresh among many other things.
I think the whole issue regarding toilet paper versus using a bucket (with water) stems from the fact that most western households do have a washing machine. And that any marks/spots left in their underwear (boxer shorts/briefs/panty, whatever) will lead to throw the underwear in the washing machine. While in PH, having a washing machine is a luxury item. All PH hotels I visited, the WC/toilet rooms had a toilet bowl with toilet paper. (PS: we dont say 'comfort room' or 'rest room'. We say WC or toilet for to pee or to poo).
Who's we. In America we say rest room or bathroom. We don't usually say toilet except to say "public toilets" or to refer to the toilet as a singular item.
Great video Mia! Correct me, but I didn’t think Paul was from the USA. Thank you for the tip regarding the bidet. I’ll be back in the Philippines next week and I am certainly going to put it to use. Have a great day!
on the cleaning up after #2. Water is not enough, you need soap and water, then water rinse. With toilet paper , its not enough either...you need toilet paper followed by a sanitizing wet wipe. So....there is that...
I'm stingy too. 😂 When I had my first vacation in the Philippines, I pretty much broke up with the woman I met over an 1800 PHP bill she made at a stupid beach resort when we stayed there for a few hours on the last day (although it wasn't the only reason). It just seemed so wasteful, the food wasn't even good, she didn't even eat half of it I think, and all I could think of is that this could have been almost a week of groceries for me in Germany, and I extrapolated what effect she would have on my life over the long term. Maybe Gen Z westerners like to waste money (I don't know), but if someone is like 35+ then they definitely have an aversion to waste. I feel physically bad/scared if I spend all my salary in a month, even though I could maintain myself for years from my savings. Also, if something is grossly overpriced, then even if I could easily afford it, I never buy it simply because it makes me feel disrespected/scammed.
Yes! The old saying is.. it is better to teach someone to fish than to give them a fish! One you feed them for one day, and the other you feed them for a lifetime!
Hi Mia; (1) well, your husband is a rational man. (2) you mentioned horses; well, one should not get too generous with relatives, or there could be quite a few empty red horses laying around; money poorly spent. (3) a dollar not spent is a dollar saved! Spend all the money, and there is no savings! Cheers.
You bring up very good points. But you guys to think worse situations. Like earthquakes, flooding, or when it was Covid 19. All ways l tell my employees use your money wisely and have some money in saving in emergency to used no to say l do not have.
I'm all about helping my family in need, but I'm not supporting them. I plan on marrying a Filipina, but I will not support her family either. I feel very bad for the poverty in your country, but I can't fix that, it's out of my control. And you are a smart woman for diffusing the "Sugar Daddy problem." your husband sounds like a good guy, but he does need to learn to keep his cool. Don't take the poison the toxic person is feeding you. Learn to show nothing bothers you, and you become a Stoic. Your Lady wants to know you are a mountain that can't be moved. Cheers from the US!
So Mia, please tell me this. If the Filipinos don’t use toilet paper, why is there so much of it in all the supermarkets? I mean they usually carry quite a variety of it. Is that just for the foreigners?
My filipina says stuff like "I'll always take care of my ph family no matter what", it had me about to cancel bringing her to America now... I want us a family not 100% of my money and hers going to lazy people half way across the world who won't support themselves

As our open german culture we are used to ask everything, even if we dont know if our opposite could Lose face.In our culture you have no choice but accepting even the toughest questions.the toughest questions are asked by our children btw 😊
Calling out the waiter for getting the order wrong is basic restaurant etiquette in the West... And you should have let him approach them for talking crap behind your back! Even if this is not the "filipina way" to do things...
Until NOW I was just about done with watching anymore videos from The Philippines. Partly bc of the same content and Bull💩! I was going to move there but probably can't now bc of health and other reasons. Well honestly one is THE HEAT!! LOL...Don't like heat EVERYDAY. However If I had a Filipina like you I'd leave the West now! To my knowledge this is my 1st time viewing your video even though I'm marked as a subscriber🤔 That said..I've heard about these cultural differences before but your detailed explanation was more direct. (maybe you're learning something from western culture). That's not to say (western culture) is all good. Some westerners think they're GOD'S especially a certain group🤔⚪. However knowledge can be useful as long as it's not disrespectful or OVERBEARING..!! You have one of the strongest english vocabularies and intelligence I've heard from Filipino vloggers. What I suggest is for you to READ about other CULTURES other than WESTERN. Read thier HISTORY. Find out the TRUTH about WESTERN Hypocrisy (written by others than WHITE CULTURE) I say this so you can make informed decisions and THINK for YOURSELF instead of being a FOLLOWER to someone (not necessarily ur husband) who may not have your best interest at heart. I encourage you to HOLD ON TO YOUR CUSTOMS AND CULTURE. (There's an old saying.."WHEN IN ROME DO AS THE ROMANS") I'm just saying...It's true EVERYBODY can benefit from learning NEW things but NOT at the RISK of surrendering your SOUL, SPIRIT and your INTEGRITY and commitment to FAMILY..!! Lastly your comments about family STANDING on their own two feet is maybe a difficult one due to the LIMITED resources and education due to your location in the world and the need of WESTERN society's NEED or WANT for your country's RESOURCES for THEIR GAIN. NOT YOURS!!! (went too far. Thats another topic) Bottom line KEEP hold of your culture bc THAT IS WHO YOU ARE and WHERE you came from. BE YOU..!!❤🙏🏾 Wish you the best.
Hi 😃...Can you please explain why the Jealousy of the Fillipinos...Not happy with some...Looks are mostly hard & Voices are Harsh...I'm in Mindanao...Women are cool to talk, but men 😢...Not easy...
If he is a normal guy, He probably does the three S's. You get up, take a poo(a sheet), shower, then shave. If you are regular, you can do this once a day and be fine and remain clean most of the day.
As a foreigner that has dated many SEA women I find both of your sanitary methods, with regards to keeping your arse clean, abhorring. The only acceptable form is a bum gum (pressurized water). Especially since salad tossing is so common in SEA.
I agree. It is good to help family; even financially, in certain circumstances, but the best way to help them is to educate them. Another wise saying we have in regard to this is:

Soap and water is definitely better.
It takes a while to get used to it but it really is the best!
😂😂😂😂😂 Too much info. Don't lip the fingers😅
I use biodegradable natural wet wipes.
You are a very wise lady. The Phillipines have done you proud. I have some friends from the Phillipines and you really help me to understand them. I always saw the bucket, and never knew what it was for! Etc....May God bless you.
Even though Paul is frugal, the amount he spends is still much more than most Filipino's earn.

Glad you are back!
Welcome Back Mia, its good to see you and Paul again!
Good to see you again. I missed listening to you. Good points. Happy Trails
Hello Mia. The "bidet" issue is typical of English speaking people. In my country (Italy) we all have and use it.
But we do have Dude biodegradable flushable wet wipes. 😊
Nice to see you back Mia, you were missed!
Hello Mia. Great to see you back🎉 great video happy your back making vids
Good video. In the west some of us still take care of our parents. Mine can't work due to Lupus and can't afford to live on her own so she lives with me. I don't go broke taking care of her though. A lot of problems go on and on and on and on because people aren’t direct and straightforward.
I was raised a toilet paper user. I have been converted to using soap and water whenever the option is available, because it's so much cleaner and fresher feeling. But for most of my life, it never even occurred to me to use anything other than toilet paper. Culture has a powerful influence.

Toilet wipes are common.

Thanks 😅

Haha thanks for the compliment, but I’m still learning! 😁

on the cleaning up after #2. Water is not enough, you need soap and water, then water rinse. With toilet paper , its not enough either...you need toilet paper followed by a sanitizing wet wipe. So....there is that...
Talking about tabo is taboo! 😁 btw, you're very self-aware; your husband is very lucky.
Hehehe. Thanks! 😊. We’re both lucky to have each other.
Hi neighbor 😊 🙈
We want….information 😂
Yes!
The old saying is.. it is better to teach someone to fish than to give them a fish! One you feed them for one day, and the other you feed them for a lifetime!
Great video, Mia! It’s great to hear your opinions without Paul sitting next to you, influencing what you say……(He also has a great channel).
Cheers.

So Mia, please tell me this. If the Filipinos don’t use toilet paper, why is there so much of it in all the supermarkets? I mean they usually carry quite a variety of it. Is that just for the foreigners?
Be easy to own a restaurant in the Philippines, just serve people what you want to get rid of, and no one will complain 😂

About toilet paper,I live in Quebec Canada and I don't understand why people were buying so much toilet paper, and about money I understand your husband, we have to take care not running out of money, make a budget. Thank you jolie demoiselle
People bought toilet paper because they were worried about supply chains failing. And supply chains did indeed fail. Have you forgotten already?

There's an old saying from the bible and this is the way it goes. You can give a person a fish and they will eat for a day or teach a person how to fish and they will for a life time.
It's not in the Bible, in those times people knew how to chase up their own food.

😂
