You have missed some things like the Purple Toad in Glitzville and some buttons like Ground Pound for bowser level which is new and the battle shows + Tattle Check button A and Confirm button on a Goomba stage..
It's really nice how the power of the Switch really allows them to lean into that "everything is paper" aesthetic, including adding actual thickness to the paper and cardboard in the game.
Yeah, as much as I love the original, my only complaint was that it never leaned into the paper aesthetic. It’s not like it couldn’t be done on the GameCube either, sections of Piglet’s Big Game have some beautiful cardboard and paper styled levels.
Yeah, the original was more like some paper elements taking place on standard 3D planes and areas. This? This is full on paper and it looks absolutely lovely.
@@ducktail4068 design decision by the devs. With the shadows, lighting, god rays, volumetric effects, polygon count, texture resolution, etc it's doing things that was simply impossible on original hardware. It could certainly be scaled back a bit to target 60fps, but I imagine the developers probably figured that framerate wasn't a priority for an RPG. People will still enjoy it, and it'll probably still sell well.
The remake looks amazing. I love how they make everything looks even more paper-like than they already are, things like carpets on the floor that you can now see the hard edges and the flat surfaces are a little bulged out with more gloss and reflection to them. The clear layers on the characters are nicely done, too. Things that used to have more dimensions to them like the bridges are now made up of more flat pieces, too, which keeps things more consistent in the world that's made up of paper. I really hope this remake is a big success and Nintendo will go on to do similar titles with this combat systems and lovable characters instead of the more experimental combat and generic companions seen in the recent newer titles.
I absolutely love how faithful they've been with the contents and dialogue of these scenes while simultaneously fully realizing the series' aesthetic goal of taking place in a world of paper and papercraft. The different kinds of paper and material, the various ways the paper is manipulated (look at those fun folded paper chairs in their home at the start), the way the new paper look gives scenes more depth and interest. The lighting is excellent. The professor's room was always kind of unremarkable, but now with that new lighting, shadowing, the ambient occlusion and the warm color grading they chose lends it a much cozier atmosphere.

This is so wild. They could have easily announced a port with some tweaks like widesceen and cleaned up assets and we still would have gone nuts for it. But no, they decided to remake it from the ground up, you never can really call what N is going to do.

everybody's loving how it looks more 'paper' when honestly I prefer the original style and no I didn't play the original when I was a kid so it's not 'nostalgia talking'. Other than that, the remake is stunning, love that they added stuff.
I like the attention to detail they are putting in this game. For example the OG game when goombella jumps there is no sprite for it and just does the same pose but in the remake it shows her jumping than preparing to land when going down. Also the partners and Mario are more expressive in situations instead of just a ! on top of their head. Cant wait to play this game again.
Yeah, it looks absolutely beautiful. Though remakes NEVER replace the original. The classics will always be there unless they pull a Blizzard and utterly erase it.
What makes me happy is how in the remake of inside the brother's house they added a picture of the Nintendo 64 Paper Mario partners. Such an adorable touch!
I prefer the OG music, and the fact actions (in and out of combat) are quicker. While the remake may have some extra features and looks nice, the downside is the remake uses the previous Paper Mario game engine. With that said, they removed the skip text option, the chat log and certain SFX (very weird). You cant go wrong playing the OG, still holds up.
For the ppl who have missed it: Mario and Peach aren't the the only ones with actual backsides this time (you can see other character's back-sprite too now!) and the characters have way more expressions now too 🤩🤩🤩
It would be nice if they kept the comic inking textures on the shadowed objects, but there is literally nothing I should complain about, this is a full on remake of TTYD that one one thought would happen! 😳
It's been a while since I saw the original game for the first time and when I saw this remake I thought there were no differences other than the lighting and shadows, but now everything is clearer now.
I didn't care since I still own and play the GameCube original but I'm starting to get interested! It shows what the Switch can do when a game is made from scratch for it. The total oposite of MK1.

Thank you. I must have beat this game at least 7 times when I was younger but I still couldn't tell the difference to the original in the trailer until I saw the side by side screenshots.
I will say I prefer the original aesthetic of the world more over the remake. The lightning effects in certain places like the Professor's room where he talks to Mario and Goombella and the room where you meet Hooktail. It darkens the scenes and I don't like it. I prefer the more brighter look of the areas and world. Even the character models look better in the original for me. That "cut-out" look they got going for the remake felt unnecessary to me. It makes their body look disconnected compared to the original where it looks like it blends more to their body making a part of them. I do wish they drop the "crafted" world look, the original didn't do that and made everything look like real objects like stone and wood. Heck, I like how the trees and fence look in the battle background more as well. But, I do like how the remake adds a few new things like the picture of Mario's partners from the first Paper Mario game which doesn't exist in the original. Though it's a visual nitpick of mine, I will get the game and it does look amazing.
While this is your opinion it's clearly not what the majority thinks and I do think that's it's extremely stupid. The lightning is what really makes the remake shine in the first place, it adds far more depth to it, in and also adds more contrast making it possible to distinguish objects better and making it easier to orientate yourself in the world. The ''cardboard''-ish look is not nearly as expressed as in the newer Paper Mario games, it's a blend with TTYD and the modern Paper Mario aesthetics. @@parodynet3004 Realistic? I never said that. I LIKE the cartoonish and bright colors of the original. The cardboard look isn't doing it for me. I prefer the normal looks of the trees, buildings, and such that the first two Paper Mario games had. They didn't look like "real" wood and stone of course, but you could make out what they're suppose to be in the simple textures. It was suppose to be like a pop-up book. The lightning effects of the engine causing the rooms to be darken just dampens the atmosphere in my opinion. I rather they don't do that. But, that's just me.

A remaster is little more than a port to PC/new consoles + increase in resolution. In this they've completely remade the game with actual paper style models, added lighting, global illumination, shadows, and material shaders that didn't even EXIST in the original. To say nothing of the 16:9 aspect ratio. Nah, this is a remake.

Y no se por que el coraje que el juego sea "igual", recuerden que Ninti abandonó este estilo de Paper Mario RPG hace mucho por que segun Miyamoto la historia no es importante en un juego de Mario, los que de verdad nos gusta estos juegos lo apoyaremos y si somos suficientes es posible que veamos un regreso ✌️
Es un remake porque esta hecho desde 0 y aparte añade contenido nuevo que no estaba presente en el original, así que es correcto usar el término “remake” para este juego.

Agreed. I loved how the table actually looked wood and not like cardboard. Plus the slight white outline on the characters kill the charm of the OG TTYD
Because 99% of people would rather take a visually up to date version of the game that aesthetically lies somewhere between TTYD and the modern Paper Mario games. Almost everyone would have complained if they simply ported it over to the Switch as all this can be achieved with emulators anyways. They added all the lightning to the game which is awesome, the original doesn't look fantastic by today's standard anymore.
Its a remake the other games you listed would be remasters that use the game original code while improving visuals and perhaps adding new content. Remakes are from the ground up and this is absolutely not a remaster.
Remastered is when you take the original game and add hd graphics and controller support. A remake is when you have brand new assets, new lighting, etc This is a remake
the og already had a great artstyle, this game could release today and no one would complain about the graphics, so aside from aspect ratio changes there's not much else they had to do here, its basically a remaster, which is great.
I just wish we could get a new 'real' paper mario game like the first 2. The switch away from them being rpgs sucks and I have zero interest in them because of that. Mario rpgs are always so fun, hopefully all the mario rpg remakes will show nintendo that plenty of us want more. Especially since there are no more mario and luigi games being made to cannibalize sales.

He changed to a bunch of colors (with unique hairstyles too) depending on what time you got his egg. Like, it used the Gamecube's clock. 99% chance it'll be the same here, green Yoshi Kid is just the look Nintendo defaults to for anything TTYD-related.
The timing you get Yoshi determines his color. White being the longest wait to get. Details like this are part of the reason WHY people love this game!
I kinda like the original more... because the backgrounds seem more 2D, which complement the main character's flatness. I think the assets in the Remake look stunning, but they seem more 3D, and actually what you want is to maintain the 2D aesthetic... ?

Those were the original games dumped into UE4 with new graphics & THOSE weren't remakes. AFAIK, that's what's happened here. The devs dumped the original games into new engines & spruced up the graphics, but they're still the same games underneath the new graphics.
I like the Gamecube for what it brought to the table, but to be the best ever created it would have to hold up against modern consoles. Since the Switch has way more power and is portable, I can't support your point here.

Yeah, there's a lot of love being poured into this. Little details like this are one of the first things passed over in thoughtless remakes.

One of my favorite games of all time, it is in my top 10. I would pay $60 for this on release with no regrets.

Though it's a visual nitpick of mine, I will get the game and it does look amazing.
While this is your opinion it's clearly not what the majority thinks and I do think that's it's extremely stupid. The lightning is what really makes the remake shine in the first place, it adds far more depth to it, in and also adds more contrast making it possible to distinguish objects better and making it easier to orientate yourself in the world. The ''cardboard''-ish look is not nearly as expressed as in the newer Paper Mario games, it's a blend with TTYD and the modern Paper Mario aesthetics. And no, the original didn't look like real objects like stone and wood, that's complete bs. That stupid sentence alone makes me think it's likely you're just another troll-divvy. How does the original look more ''realistic''?

The cardboard look isn't doing it for me. I prefer the normal looks of the trees, buildings, and such that the first two Paper Mario games had.
They didn't look like "real" wood and stone of course, but you could make out what they're suppose to be in the simple textures.
It was suppose to be like a pop-up book.
The lightning effects of the engine causing the rooms to be darken just dampens the atmosphere in my opinion.
I rather they don't do that. But, that's just me.

No hubo Metroid Prime 2 Echoes remastered, pero a cambio recibimos otra joya de la maquina mas infravalorada de Nintendo, asi que estoy conforme, solo espero que a los otros 2 metroid que faltan, le hagan el mismo tratamiento que el primero y por lo pronto puedo esperar.

A remaster is little more than a port to PC/new consoles + increase in resolution.
In this they've completely remade the game with actual paper style models, added lighting, global illumination, shadows, and material shaders that didn't even EXIST in the original. To say nothing of the 16:9 aspect ratio. Nah, this is a remake.

En este caso "Remake" es correcto, pues no se refiere a la comparación del resultado final sino a cómo se ha llevado a cabo.
Es un remake porque esta hecho desde 0 y aparte añade contenido nuevo que no estaba presente en el original, así que es correcto usar el término “remake” para este juego.

the remake honestly makes it look more "Papery" because the original had almost no Papery elements other than mario's transformations, wich i think is really good, because... come on, it's called PAPER Mario, Not "Flat models Mario"

Estoy jugando el original, me pude conseguir una Gamecube, me gusta como se ve, es justamente como su nombre dice "paper", se ve papel, como si hubieran pintado sobre papel, el remake lo veo como si usaran carton osea desde los arboles tener mas ramas q sobresalen, me da la impresion de que sea carton pegado con mas carton, y sobre los colores es como si tienen un carton y le hubieran pegado enima carton de colores, llege a jugar el paper mario del 3DS me encanto, y ahora q estoy juegando el del GC me esta gustando, loque me gusta del remake son las luces, y el "reflejo", pero que bueno que revivan ese juego, marco una epoca para los jovenes de esa epoca.

Because 99% of people would rather take a visually up to date version of the game that aesthetically lies somewhere between TTYD and the modern Paper Mario games. Almost everyone would have complained if they simply ported it over to the Switch as all this can be achieved with emulators anyways. They added all the lightning to the game which is awesome, the original doesn't look fantastic by today's standard anymore.

Its a remake the other games you listed would be remasters that use the game original code while improving visuals and perhaps adding new content. Remakes are from the ground up and this is absolutely not a remaster.

the og already had a great artstyle, this game could release today and no one would complain about the graphics, so aside from aspect ratio changes there's not much else they had to do here, its basically a remaster, which is great.
I just wish we could get a new 'real' paper mario game like the first 2. The switch away from them being rpgs sucks and I have zero interest in them because of that. Mario rpgs are always so fun, hopefully all the mario rpg remakes will show nintendo that plenty of us want more. Especially since there are no more mario and luigi games being made to cannibalize sales.

No. In the original game that Yoshi can be a variety of different colors.
He changed to a bunch of colors (with unique hairstyles too) depending on what time you got his egg. Like, it used the Gamecube's clock.
99% chance it'll be the same here, green Yoshi Kid is just the look Nintendo defaults to for anything TTYD-related.
The timing you get Yoshi determines his color. White being the longest wait to get. Details like this are part of the reason WHY people love this game!

I kinda like the original more... because the backgrounds seem more 2D, which complement the main character's flatness. I think the assets in the Remake look stunning, but they seem more 3D, and actually what you want is to maintain the 2D aesthetic... ?

@@RZ302 Do we have confirmation that they're from the ground up remakes? Because take the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition remasters. Those were the original games dumped into UE4 with new graphics & THOSE weren't remakes. AFAIK, that's what's happened here. The devs dumped the original games into new engines & spruced up the graphics, but they're still the same games underneath the new graphics.
Gamecube is still the greatest console ever created.
I like the Gamecube for what it brought to the table, but to be the best ever created it would have to hold up against modern consoles. Since the Switch has way more power and is portable, I can't support your point here.
