I really love the sisterly bond between Lilo and Nani! It feels very genuine and I’m sure a lot of people can relate to it! Even the relationship between Lilo and Stitch is believable!

There’s actually a deleted scene that gives more context to the strange photos Lilo takes of tourists. Basically, it shows white tourists treating Lilo like something to be gawked at and talked down to and to take photos of without her consent, a curiosity for being a native Hawaiian, just another part of their tropical vacation experience rather than a person. So she gets back at them and asserts her agency by messing with rude tourists and treating them with the same sort of dehumanizing attitude they treat her, including taking pictures of them like they’re something to be gawked at.

The pudge story is so sad, because apparently the fish name pudge can control the weather, her parents died in a storm, she’s trying to appease the fish she thinks is responsible for her parents death so she doesnt lose anyone else.

“I ain’t know you had a throat like that” is an INSANE way to say someone can sing 😭😭

I hated Bubbles when I watched this as a kid. Now, I can understand why he was going to take Lilo. It's his job to determine if Nani was capable of taking care of her. Nani was only 19, barely an adult herself. She was having a hard time coping with the loss of her parents while becoming a parent. It's obvious she was barely keeping everything from falling apart. After that call from Lilo, he came to find her alone and the house destroyed. What options did Bubbles have? She didn't even have a home anymore, so leaving her there would be irresponsible.

Seeing the lilo making a wish part made me think of your Disney quit playing with my heart song which is always gonna be a great song

If you think this one’s emotional, wait til you see Lilo and Stitch 2. The entire 3rd act had me bawling like a big ole baby. 😂😂

What i love about the movie is the conversation with Lilo talking to Stitch about her parents, him crying at night, and knows that's why he wrecks things and pushes her. Because that's why she is aggressive and does the same to her sister. And how she remembers everyone who leaves. It's so subtle, yet so well written. And how Bubbles became a part of the family. It explains why he was ghosting them so much. He cared about them and wanted to do what's best for them. Of course, all the comments talking about Pudge the fish. Can't forget about them visiting Graceland! 😅

Nani is an amazing sister for taking on the responsibility of raising Lilo. She also lost her parents and now has to take care of a little kid.

When social workers get involved to decide if a young adult sibling may raise the minor, the end result is either yes, the siblings may stay together or the minor will end up in foster care, if a home is available, if not, then the minor will be sent to a temporary government-owned child facility.

Why is Pudge the fish important?

1- David is the best Disney love interest. He’s supportive and patient, and understands that Nani has a lot going on. He doesn’t push, and is just there for her.

That speech Stitch gives the Grand Councilwoman gets me every time: "This is my family. I found it all....on .... my own. It's little and broken, but still good. (looks back at Nani and Lilo) Yeah....still good." 🥺😭

I used to live in Hawaii (my dad was stationed on Oahu for three years), so to answer a few of your questions:

  • @noxfox4758

I think the reason they had social services checking on them is because Nani is only 18/19 and lilo is 6. They needed to make sure lilo would be provided and cared for. Nani probably got out of high school just recently and had a job for what little expenses and things she’d want to buy for herself, since she was still living with their parents. Imagine having to all a sudden take on all of the house and food expenses and taking care of a really young kid on your own.

  • @Sabrina-jl4sp

I love this movie. Incredibly heart wrenching when you think about all Nani and Lilo have been through. Nani isn't playing hard to get with David she just has too much on her plate as a young woman who just lost her parents and is trying to keep custody of her sister.
